Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space
Chapter 1573: Meeting Friends in 1573
Hao Shichao nodded, “That would be best. By the way, could you help us send the money back to Jiang Xinyu?”
Lv Beiguang shook his head, “You’d better wait until Xinyu comes back to talk about it. She wants to come back, but there are too many things going on at home. Maybe she’ll be back around the New Year.”
“Beiguang, do you think I should resign and work for myself?”
“I think you should. I’ve been doing it for years and I feel quite at ease.”
The two of them chatted for a while before Lv Beiguang left. He still needed to deliver a car to Liu Yuwei.
By the time he returned, dinner was ready at home.
The three kids were a bit anxious and wanted to go back to school.
They didn’t really know the area here, so of course, they weren’t used to it.
The next day, the family of five boarded the train home.
Today, Han Xiangjun got off at the Capital Railway Station.
He went straight to the factory.
When Jiang Xinyu saw him, “You’re finally back.”
“So happy to see me back?”
“Of course! I need a vacation too. While you were away, lots of things happened, but I think you need to deal with the issue of the woman and the child first. Let Xiao Hai take you there later.”
That woman really hasn’t settled down; it’s only been a few days, and there are issues every day.
Han Xiangjun felt a bit embarrassed, especially in front of his brother’s wife, making it hard for him to lift his head.
“Alright, I’ll go over first and come back to eat dinner tonight.”
Jiang Xinyu nodded, signaling that she understood.
Han Xiangjun called Xiao Hai, and the two left.
“What’s the situation exactly?”
“Brother Han, I investigated. The child should be yours,” Xiao Hai said with a heavy heart.
Han Xiangjun frowned, “When did I sleep with her? What’s this woman’s background?”
“Her name is Qiu Meiling, and she’s just an ordinary sales clerk. You met because you drank together and met at a club.”
“What kind of person gets to go to a club?”
“Brother Han, here’s Qiu Meiling’s profile.”
Han Xiangjun took it and looked at it. She was just twenty-three. Han Xiangjun sucked in air through his teeth, wondering what was wrong with him at the time.
She’s just from an ordinary family, and her home environment is quite clean.
“Brother Han, this Qiu Meiling is quite simple-minded.”
Han Xiangjun listened and commented, “So you’re saying she’s simple-minded. Fortunately, the child is a girl; it would have been unlucky if it were a boy.”
They drove to a house on the outskirts. Someone here was responsible for cooking and watching over Qiu Meiling and the child.
When Han Xiangjun got out of the car, he saw Qiu Meiling running out. Seeing her, he recalled something.
Han Xiangjun felt troubled. If it had been someone he played with casually, it would have been fine. But with an ordinary person, it made things complicated.
“Xiao Hai, go bring her parents here.”
Xiao Hai drove off.
Qiu Meiling followed behind Han Xiangjun anxiously.
“Sit down.”
Han Xiangjun looked at the girl, frowning and pondering how to solve this issue.
“Why didn’t you come to me when you got pregnant? Why wait until after the child was born?”
Qiu Meiling stammered, unable to say anything.
Han Xiangjun remained calm, “You better tell the truth. Otherwise, the repercussions will be more than you can handle.”
“It’s just, I was scared to come to you.”
Han Xiangjun said nothing, merely staring at Qiu Meiling, sapping her of the courage to continue.
Han Xiangjun felt he was wasting his time. He decided to say nothing more. He didn’t even care to see the child.
Xiao Hai, with his usual efficiency, brought Qiu Meiling’s parents over within an hour.
Han Xiangjun looked at them, seeing they were honest, simple people.
“Please have a seat.”
Qiu Meiling’s father was a bit angry. Having a daughter who got pregnant out of wedlock brought shame to the family. Now, they finally knew who the man was.
“I just found out about the child ten days ago. And, I can see you folks aren’t the scheming type. Regarding how Qiu Meiling tried to trap me, I will definitely pursue it.”
The Qiu family couple was stunned. No matter how they questioned Qiu Meiling, she never explained the child’s origin.
They even thought their daughter had been assaulted, but that’s not what this man seemed to be suggesting.
Standing at the side, Qiu Meiling’s child began to cry. A child less than four months old doesn’t know anything, naturally crying when hungry or uncomfortable.
Han Xiangjun observed Qiu Meiling, noticing she had no intention of tending to the child.
It seems I’ll have to take the child myself.
The crying made Han Xiangjun very irritable.
“So tell me, why didn’t you come to me when you found out you were pregnant? Don’t lie. You should know how I am. If you keep trying to muddle through, I’ll make sure the results are something you can’t handle.”
Qiu Meiling shifted uncomfortably, “Well, Xiao Hong told me if I let you know I was pregnant, you’d definitely not want the child. And if I had the child, I could marry you and have a good life.”
Han Xiangjun believed her explanation.
But who is this Xiao Hong? Probably another woman he had been involved with.
“Ha, marry me? You can give up on that idea. It’s impossible. Since you gave birth to my child, I won’t mistreat you. Think about how much money you want, but there are conditions. The child will have nothing to do with you. You cannot appear in the child’s life. Do not disturb the child’s life. In the future, we won’t have any contact. Even if we meet, we are strangers who don’t even need to greet each other.”
Qiu’s father stood up suddenly after hearing this.
“What do you mean by this? You take advantage of my daughter, and now you want to shirk responsibility?”
Han Xiangjun nodded, “Yes, I won’t take responsibility. As for how this happened, sir, you can ask your daughter. She should know. Your family can discuss it. I will come back in half an hour for an answer. As for Xiao Hong, you can see the consequences for her.”
After speaking, Han Xiangjun turned around and walked away to check on the child.
The nanny was holding the child and giving it water, using a small spoon since there were no bottles available.
Han Xiangjun leaned closer to take a look. The child bore about sixty percent resemblance to him.
He hadn’t expected to have another child; if he had wanted one, he would have had countless by now. He had promised Jianbin not to have any more children.
However, this was an accident, and since it’s a girl, it shouldn’t have much effect on Jianbin. But Jianbin might not be happy about it, right?
But there’s no choice now since the child is already so big. I’ll just have to raise her well in the future.
