Reborn As An Interstellar Giant Mosquito
Chapter 2786 - 48: It’s Absolutely Terrifying
"You guys can go back and rest in a bit, after all, you’re all tired. You did really well this time. You’ll all be credited for your efforts later."
Jia Yan said this to them casually.
"Yes, thank you, Lord Jia Yan."
A captain, seemingly afraid that others might beat him to the punch, promptly responded with respect.
The other captains and pilots who joined the battle all cursed inwardly. They hadn’t reacted fast enough, or they could have had a few more words with Jia Yan.
This being was undoubtedly the most terrifying strong figure they had ever met in their lifetime. Secretly, everyone had a rather absurd guess in their minds that they dared not voice out.
That is, Lord Jia Yan was likely an ominously powerful figure even the game operators dared not mess with; why else would the game operators dare not intervene in his actions?
This implies that Lord Jia Yan is either someone the operators couldn’t afford to provoke or that his background is something they couldn’t afford to offend.
In any case, either scenario is far beyond the reach of us common players in the game.
Perhaps speaking with him today might become bragging rights in the future.
Jia Yan piloted the battleship back to the Earth Civilization’s docking port.
"Master, you’ve returned."
The Sovereign controlled by Adisa greeted him.
"Hmm, I’ll continue my closed-door training. If anything comes up, call me. Also, as you’ve seen, the operators likely won’t interfere with our matters, so continue quickly searching for the civilization’s shadow, rapidly devouring their energy. After that, I have some questions for those operators."
"Alright, then I’ll get searching. In a bit, I’ll keep half of this harvest aside to deliver to you."
"Hmm."
Jia Yan controlled his Earth person-like character and entered his closed-door training chamber.
The surrounding players were all silent, none daring to speak to him.
Or rather, none had the courage to speak.
Even in the game, in a universe accustomed to bowing down before strong ones, civilians, even if knowing their true bodies would be safe, didn’t dare show any disrespect to the powerful.
After all, everyone was used to respecting strong ones.
"Lord Jia Yan is simply too terrifying."
"Indeed, Lord Jia Yan must be some kind of strong figure with subspace talent, and his power is undoubtedly fearsome."
"But how did his player body get such talent? It’s a bit strange."
"Do we even need to ask? Lord Jia Yan’s background is terrifying; it’s likely given by the game’s operators, otherwise what other explanation could there be?"
"I see, but for the game’s operators to openly cheat like this, are they trying to ruin the game?"
Only when Jia Yan returned to his resting chamber did the noise outside gradually grow louder.
However, Jia Yan, back in his resting chamber, wasn’t really resting using his game character.
Instead, his focus returned directly to his true body, fully repairing it.
"Soon new resources will arrive. My current body shouldn’t need me to exert more effort to control it, right?"
Jia Yan thought silently.
His true body had been tirelessly controlling the mutation issues.
The previous batch of resources had granted him some extra energy, making his game character able to exhibit precision subspace talent.
This time, with more resources obtained compared to the last, he could confirm that after using the new civilization’s resources, his energy would further increase.
From this perspective, just a few more civilizations, while achieving mutation success might be impossible, his true body would gradually be liberated. When faced with potential enemies, using his half-mutated body to fight wouldn’t be too great a challenge, although avoiding conflict is still preferable if possible.
In any case, receiving new energy was a great encouragement to him.
"Just continue waiting. With Adisa’s cheating-like Adisa’s detection capabilities, he should quickly locate new civilizations for me to devour."
Jia Yan didn’t consider this game as anything significant, merely a means to devour energy.
For a civilization posing a threat to him, it’s impossible for it to exist. If it really exists, then it’s not a game but an exceedingly powerful civilization.
As for within the Earth Civilization, with continuous victories seemingly inevitable, everyone soon rejoiced.
Some players exchanged harvested energy for real currency. While not a lot, for players with ordinary family backgrounds, it was practically a huge sum.
Moreover, everyone knows the future Earth Civilization will continue advancing. With Jia Yan present, even alone, he can destroy enemy civilizations as effortlessly as reaching into a bag, and the players here will soon share in real profits by converting energy into real currency.
So, numerous in-game Earth Civilization players held Jia Yan in high regard.
Not to mention, Jia Yan was a formidable existence, downright terrifying. Even if they didn’t like him, they dared not harbor any ill feelings.
Additionally, within the Earth Civilization, different cultures and regions gradually become familiar with each other.
Like a real world.
After using resources from a second exterminated civilization, Jia Yan gradually felt some of the oppressive sensation on his true body diminish.
Given it’s a controlled mutation process, having used a large amount of energy means naturally he doesn’t have to exert so much effort controlling these changes.
"Oh, there’s even a player getting married."
Jia Yan perceives the external situation.
For him, he doesn’t need to use his player identity for any investigations. By merely using a sliver of Brainwave Power from his true body, within his own Earth Civilization battleship’s embrace, he can perceive everything, no detail spared.
After all, the spaceship is too small. Even though for external civilizations it seems sizable, it’s only a few hundred meters.
Yet, Jia Yan’s current mutated body has reached the size of around sixty to seventy kilometers. Though not wholly grown, it essentially renders the few hundred-meter battleship akin to a planet.
Thus, this spaceship always trails Jia Yan’s true body, seemingly embraced by him.
No one knows it, though.
Jia Yan detects players inside the spaceship, with males and females even getting married and forming families.
"If some of these players are AI-controlled, wouldn’t the player marrying be disheartened?"
Jia Yan thinks with a hint of malice.
"Oh no, this isn’t the worst. Worse would be if some male player, in the game player’s female account, gets real with someone. Due to the game’s realism, truly goes on with it, and upon learning the other’s true identity, wouldn’t the male player feel as if dying from heartbreak? Haha!"
Jia Yan thought, laughing.
Simply hilarious.
However, this speaks to the charm of interstellar games—real enough to feel like another life.
Male players, who married other female characters, likely had similar considerations. Yet, in this game, everyone tends to avoid probing one’s real identity, treating the gaming experience as a genuine world with another identity-like feel.
"That’s actually pretty good, too bad I can’t blend into such a game."
Jia Yan sighed.
It’s not that he doesn’t want to enjoy the fun of gaming, but for him, ordinary beings are simply not the same anymore. Even together in a game wouldn’t invoke the same sentiment. Hence, he can’t partake in gaming with others.
Even if he wants to play, he must play with equally matched opponents, like... a game with all Star River level existences...
