Chapter 1907: Chapter 1909: Slave Trader Gathering Information (Part 1)
On the road, one could still hear rumors about Yang Qiu.
Wang Kui specifically paid attention to Yang Ming’s expression, as if he was also enduring something.
He advised, "Shopkeeper, don’t listen to those people talking nonsense. That’s just how folks in the county are; they discuss every matter, but after a few days, it’ll pass."
"Hmm, it’s nothing." Yang Ming nodded and didn’t wish to argue with those people. Some things can’t be solved simply by debating them. Whether Yang Qiu can have children or not will be revealed in time.
"Shopkeeper, does your sister really intend to take a husband into the family?" Wang Kui asked gossipingly, treating it as idle chat on the road.
Yang Ming didn’t think much of it. He trusted Wang Kui a lot; otherwise, he wouldn’t consult him on every matter.
Initially, the Escort Agency relied entirely on Wang Kui. It’s not unfair to say the Escort Agency belonged to Wang Kui.
He just lucked into a great deal, but fortunately, he is now involved in some matters of the Escort Agency, so he’s not entirely a hands-off manager.
"There’s no such thing; it’s all just gossip!"
Wang Kui didn’t quite believe these words. After all, there’s no smoke without a fire. He thought Yang Ming might be unwilling to discuss family matters, which was why he said that, so he tactfully stopped asking.
But unexpectedly, Yang Ming spoke up again and poured out his feelings, which made Wang Kui feel that Yang Ming truly didn’t treat him as an outsider.
"Actually, if she can really get a husband to join the family, it wouldn’t be a bad thing. After all, Yang Qiu has just returned home. It’s better for her to stay, rather than going to a husband’s house and having to serve the in-laws. If she gets bullied, we wouldn’t know! But finding the right person is hard, especially given her current situation."
"That’s true!" Hearing Yang Ming’s words, Wang Kui could only reply like that. Saying more would reveal too much, as he didn’t want anyone to know he was familiar with Yang Qiu.
The two first went to the slave trader in town.
A man around fifty years old came out to greet them, "Are you looking for someone to be a maid, a wife, or a house servant? We have all kinds here, and if you can’t find a suitable one, we can find another for you. We’ll ensure your satisfaction!"
Wang Kui’s presence was intimidating, so some things required Wang Kui to speak.
"Can you really find us anyone we want? You must be boasting!"
Upon hearing this, the man instantly became displeased, feeling challenged, and promptly said, "Just tell me what you want; I’m Han Laosi, renowned in this business for many years. If we don’t have it in our agency, we can bring it from elsewhere."
Upon hearing this, Yang Ming and Wang Kui exchanged a glance, and Wang Kui then spoke, "I think you’re just bragging. How many years can you have worked here that I don’t recognize you?"
"Go out and ask around—Han Laosi of the slave trader—everyone knows me. I’ve been doing this for over twenty years. You folks must be from out of town." The man showed an impatient face.
"Do you want to buy people or not? If you do, say it quickly. If not, leave, don’t waste our time. Others are watching here too..."
Before he finished speaking, Wang Kui immediately pressed him aside. Wang Kui’s presence carried a sense of intimidation, especially when he used his hand to press the man, implying a threat, scared him so much that he started stammering.
"Good sirs, good sirs, what are you doing? Let’s talk properly, please don’t resort to violence."
