Chapter 1940: Chapter 1942: Can I Speak with Yang Qiu Alone?

In the dining room

Yang Ming’s father saw his wife return, and noticing her lack of excitement, suspected that their daughter probably wasn’t entirely agreeable to the matter, so he didn’t ask.

Instead, he pointed to the table and said, "Everyone’s finished eating, tidy all of this up."

"Alright, we’ll clean up here. You can go to the front hall. A little later, we’ll bring the Sobriety Tea over. You have some then go to sleep."

Yang Ming’s father nodded, then led everyone away.

Meanwhile, Yang Ming’s mother asked her two daughters-in-law to stay behind and clean up, while she herself prepared the Sobriety Tea and headed to the front hall.

After all, it was necessary to convey Yang Qiu’s need to think it over for a few days to Wang Kui.

Upon entering the room, she poured Sobriety Tea for everyone, "Drink some quickly; otherwise, the alcohol might get to your head."

Wang Kui drank the Sobriety Tea, his emotions in turmoil. He had been too impulsive just now, directly mentioning marrying Yang Qiu.

Initially, he thought that maybe Yang Qiu would agree, which was why he had agreed to this arrangement.

But looking back, it seemed Yang Qiu hadn’t agreed, and perhaps this was just the Yang Family and his own wishful thinking.

Just as he was pondering this, he heard Yang Ming’s mother say, "Wang Kui, I just asked my Xiaoqiu. She said this matter was too sudden, and she hasn’t figured it out yet. She wants to think it over for a few days."

Learning that Yang Qiu wanted to consider it, rather than outright rejecting it, Wang Kui felt a bit relieved and said, "No problem, Auntie. This is an important decision, and it should be thought through well, to avoid future regrets."

Wang Kui’s words satisfied Yang Ming’s father and Yang Ming’s mother, and Yang Ming’s mother

added, "You’re a kind person. If my Yang Qiu indeed ends up with you, we’d be at ease."

Yang Ming’s mother spoke plainly; she wholeheartedly supported the match.

"Thank you, Auntie, for valuing me so much. Don’t worry, if Yang Qiu and I really get together, I’ll certainly be good to her."

Wang Kui vowed.

"I believe you, I believe you." Yang Ming’s mother nodded.

Wang Kui took a sip of tea, then stood up to say, "Uncle, Auntie, can I speak with Yang Qiu alone?"

Wang Kui felt he might need to say something to Yang Qiu, to apologize for his earlier rashness.

"Uh..." Yang Ming’s father was momentarily unsure whether to agree.

Since it was already nighttime, he worried that people might gossip if their daughter was alone with Wang Kui, which wouldn’t be good for Yang Qiu.

It was then that Yang Ming spoke up, "Dad, Mom, why not ask Xiaoqiu’s opinion? If Xiaoqiu agrees, let them talk alone. Maybe after a good chat, this matter can be resolved?"

Yang Ming’s father thought that made sense, so he gave a look to his wife.

Yang Ming’s mother promptly said, "Alright, I’ll go ask Xiaoqiu."

Saying this, Yang Ming’s mother left the room, while the others waited here, sipping the Sobriety Tea.

A short while later, Yang Ming’s mother returned and said, "Xiaoqiu said okay, you can go over now. I’ve sent the others back to their rooms. If you want to say something, best be quick. After all, it’s Xiaoqiu’s room, and if word gets out, it won’t be good for anyone."

Yang Ming’s mother couldn’t help but remind him, even though she knew Wang Kui likely wouldn’t bring it up, it was best to be cautious to prevent any accidents.

"Auntie, I’ve been too presumptuous. Forget it then."

Wang Kui felt that his head wasn’t working well today. First, impulsively saying he wanted to marry Yang Qiu, and now impulsively wanting to enter Yang Qiu’s room.
