Reborn As Noble
Chapter 1546: The Golden Wave ( 1546 )
A panicked scream echoed across the beach.
"Eeeekkk! Little brother!! Help meeeeeee!!!"
Heres’s voice faded as he was dragged by Kliatana back toward the path they had come from, his feet kicking up sand as he was hauled away. Javier clapped his hands together once, watching the scene with a wry smile.
He glanced at Marcellus, Cedric, and Aelius, who stood beside him. The sand wall had vanished, the magic circles had dissolved, leaving only the peaceful beach and the sound of waves.
"Rest in peace, my brother. Your sacrifice will not be forgotten."
Marcellus pressed a hand to his chest and bowed his head. "He was a good man. Annoying, but good."
Cedric sighed dramatically. "Gone too soon. May he find peace in the afterlife."
Aelius adjusted his glasses, his expression flat. "Oi. Heres is not dead yet. She’s just going to punish him." He let out a weary exhale and shook his head before mumbling under his breath. "These three... no shame, no sympathy. And yet they call themselves brothers."
After Heres and Kliatana had disappeared, Javier placed both hands on his hips and glanced out at the sea. He let out a long, contented sigh.
"Well... since today is a vacation, I guess I’ll just enjoy my day."
Marcellus and Cedric, who had their arms crossed, glanced over toward where Liana was standing. They noticed their wives had already arrived and were chatting with Liana and the others near the grill.
Marcellus smirked. "I’m going to join them."
Cedric nodded. "Me too. I’m starving."
Aelius shook his head, a faint, amused smile on his lips as he watched his brothers walk away without a shred of concern.
"You all have no mercy. Our brother is facing the wrath of his pregnant wife, and you’re all just going to eat and swim."
Javier shrugged, a cheeky grin spreading across his face.
"What can we do? He dug his own grave. Besides, Kliatana won’t actually kill him. I’m sure after a few moments, they’ll both make up. She’s too soft on him, especially when he uses those charming words and that smooth voice of his. She’ll forgive him before the sun sets."
Marcellus smirked, glancing over his shoulder. "I’m sure after that, they’ll be in their villa. And knowing those two, they’ll be... making up. Loudly. Very loudly. Probably for hours."
Aelius sighed, but his smile remained. "True. But still... you could at least pretend to be concerned."
Javier’s grin widened. He wiggled his eyebrows. "We are concerned. We’re concerned that if we interfere, we’ll be next~ So the best thing to do is stay far away and let nature take its course."
Aelius chuckled softly, shaking his head as he followed Javier and the others toward the gathering.
"You’re all terrible brothers."
Just as they all walked together toward the grill, they turned and glanced at the sea. Their eyes narrowed at the sight before them.
A massive golden Pekko was sliding across the ocean surface as if it were solid ice. His golden feathers gleamed under the sun, and he moved with regal, effortless grace, carving through the water like a skater on a frozen lake.
Beside him, Garius wore golden beach trunks, his arms crossed casually over his chest. He was jumping lightly across the waves, each leap carrying him forward without effort.
Behind them, Alf followed, wearing black beach trunks. He skipped across the water with quiet precision, his movements calm and steady, his expression remained composed as he adjusted his glasses.
Javier, Marcellus, Cedric, and Aelius squinted their eyes, staring at the scene with a mix of annoyance and disbelief.
"Hmmph! Show off."
"Yeah. Our old man is a really annoying one."
"What kind of father shows off like that in front of his sons?"
Marcellus squatted down, narrowing his eyes toward their father.
"Damn, skipping on the water like his feet are on solid ground. Not even a ripple. Not even a splash."
Cedric joined in, muttering under his breath with a flat, deadpan tone.
"Yeah. He’s probably doing this just to remind us how inferior we are." He made an exaggerated face, puffing out his chest and deepening his voice in a mocking impression. "’Look at me! I’m Garius! I can walk on water! I’m the strongest being in existence! I’m so amazing, even the ocean respects me~’"
Aelius adjusted his glasses, his voice calm but carrying a sharp edge.
"Hmmph. A powerful man such as him, and yet he always wants to have practice duels with us."
Javier cupped his mouth with both hands before booing in a very low voice.
"Booo~ Cheat!"
Javier spun around, dropping into a crouch as he scooped up a handful of sand, using his magic crafting skill to shape it into various forms the moment his father’s gaze swept toward them. The sand shimmered, shifting and molding into tiny, intricate shapes. A miniature Pekko. A tiny tower. A little sword. All while whistling innocently.
Marcellus and Cedric pretended to be playfully wrestling, pushing and shoving each other with exaggerated grunts and dramatic poses.
Aelius flinched, nudged his glasses, and turned his head away, pretending to admire the vast ocean with an expression of deep contemplation.
After their father continued skipping across the wavy sea with Giddie and Alf, they all turned again and shared a glance before shrugging. But Javier was hiding a smirk before he turned toward Aelius.
"Aelius?"
"Hmm?" Aelius glanced at Javier, his expression curious. "Yes, little brother?"
"You still have that gold coin from before, right?"
Aelius’s hand slipped into his pocket and pulled out a single gold coin, holding it up for Javier to see. "Why do you need this? It’s not like there’s a market or shop around here."
Javier smiled calmly, his eyes glinting with mischief. "I want to show you something interesting."
Aelius tilted his head, his brow furrowing further. "Oh... how?"
"Just channel your mana while holding the gold coin~"
Aelius smirked, a confident glint in his eyes. "Like this?" He channeled his mana, and a beautiful golden aura flared around his body. The gold coin in his palm began to glow, pulsing with radiant light.
"Yes~ Now," Javier said, his voice calm and smooth. "Get down on one knee on the sand. Keep holding the coin up."
Aelius frowned but complied, lowering himself to one knee. "Hmm? Why do you need me in this position?"
"Just wait and see. Now press one palm on the sand."
Aelius’s brow furrowed deeper, but he placed one palm flat against the ground while his other palm remained upward, holding the glowing coin. His mana continued to channel, the golden light pulsing steadily.
Javier grinned cheekily. He pressed his hand against Aelius’s back and activated his tremendous mana, channeling his skill through his brother’s body.
Meanwhile, on the sea.
Garius paused mid-skip, standing perfectly still on the water’s surface with both hands behind his back. His gaze shifted as a massive, towering golden wave rose around him from all directions. The wave curled inward, threatening to crash down on him and the two beside him.
He smiled calmly, his eyes glinting with amusement.
"Ah... look at that, Alf~ Looks like my son is testing his skill against me~"
