Reborn in the 80s and Remarrying an Officer, Let the Ungrateful Cry!
Chapter 603: What’s There to Compare?
Qin Wenze was a bit stunned by this.
"You’re saying Gao Lan has her sights set on your wife’s courtyard house? That... that can’t be, can it?"
Qin Wenhao sneered. "She showed up at our door yesterday, so how is it not possible? First, she tried to get my wife to sell the courtyard house to her. When my wife refused, she turned around and asked to borrow it. That’s a house my wife bought with her own money, not a gift from the Qin family. Tell her to drop those ideas."
With that said, he couldn’t be bothered to add another word and simply turned and left.
Left standing there, Qin Wenze’s expression turned exceptionally grim as he processed what his brother had just said.
He immediately headed straight home.
Gao Lan was surprised to see him back so soon after he had just left.
Just as she was about to ask what was going on, she noticed his grim expression.
Moreover, his eyes were glaring at her in anger.
This made her panic.
"Wenze, you... why are you back? Did... did you forget something at home?"
"Did you go looking for Fu Mingxue when you were out yesterday?"
The moment Gao Lan heard this, her expression changed.
"What, did she run and tattle to you?"
’What is with this Fu Mingxue?’
’She’s supposed to be an intellectual, so why does she keep resorting to such petty tricks?’
"Fu Mingxue is far too busy; she has no time to come see me. Don’t change the subject. I’m asking you—what was that all about yesterday, trying to buy the courtyard house from her? You even asked to borrow it?"
"How did you have the nerve to even ask?"
Gao Lan laughed in exasperation. "And why wouldn’t I have the nerve to ask? It’s not like I’d be living in her courtyard house for free. A house needs people in it to feel alive! Besides, her courtyard is just sitting empty. What’s wrong with her lending it to us?"
"I was only thinking of our family when I considered buying her house. After all, I want to bring Yueyue and Qiaoqiao here to live with us, and her courtyard is bigger—plenty of room for everyone. Plus, if our families are neighbors, the kids can play together, right?"
Qin Wenze couldn’t believe how thick-skinned she was, to actually go and find Fu Mingxue about this.
He sneered. "Buy her courtyard house? Do you even have the money for it?"
Gao Lan: ...?
"How much could it cost? A few thousand yuan at most, right? You and Qin Wenhao are real brothers. If we’re a little short now, we can just pay him back slowly over time, can’t we?"
’She was doing her best to push aside the thought that her mother-in-law had been the one to provide the money for it.’
’What more could they possibly want?’
Qin Wenze was so taken aback by her ignorance that he could only laugh.
’That courtyard house for a few thousand yuan?’
’What was she thinking?’
’And paying it back slowly? Was she planning to take several years, or was she just planning to mooch the house for free?’
’Why not just have them gift her the courtyard house outright?’
He took a deep breath, suppressing his anger.
He said coldly, "Don’t you go getting any more ideas about that courtyard house. And another thing—we’re living here. From now on, Yueyue and Qiaoqiao will live at the Qin Family Mansion. Their grandparents will raise them; they don’t need to live with us."
"You’re going back to work on the eighth."
With that, he turned and left, his face dark.
Gao Lan’s expression was just as foul.
’Hmph. So everyone’s on Fu Mingxue’s side, is that it?’
’Just because Fu Mingxue is more educated than I am? Fine. I’ll get into a university too.’
’Just you wait!’
’She would show everyone in the Qin family—she was in no way inferior to that Fu Mingxue.’
Fu Mingxue had no idea that Gao Lan was now so dead set on competing with her.
In truth, even if she had known, she wouldn’t have cared.
Everyone has their own life to live; there’s no need to constantly compare yourself to others.
In the blink of an eye, it was time for the couple to depart.
When the twins learned that both their mom and dad were leaving, they couldn’t stop crying.
