Reborn in the 80s and Remarrying an Officer, Let the Ungrateful Cry!
Chapter 696: A Small Matter
"Is something wrong?"
Seeing an expression on Fu Mingxue’s face he’d never seen before, Director Geng immediately thought of the worst.
He couldn’t help but tense up.
"Director Geng, please don’t be nervous. Nothing’s wrong. I just need your help with a personal matter. It’s like this: there’s a girl from my hometown who’s all alone. She’s being forced into a marriage and has nowhere to go. I was hoping to find her a job. Since you’re so well-connected, Director Geng, I figured any position you could find would be fine."
When Director Geng heard this, he patted his chest in relief.
"Group Leader Fu, you really gave me a scare! I thought there was a problem with the project. I never expected it to be such a small matter. Next time, you can’t look so serious when you’re just asking about something like this."
Fu Mingxue: ...?
’Was my expression that serious? I didn’t even notice.’
Still, hearing Director Geng call it a small matter made her breathe a sigh of relief.
Before she could speak, Director Geng said quickly, "No need to look elsewhere. We have openings in the regular workshops at our factory. Just have her come over."
"However, as for living arrangements—there are no empty dorms at the factory right now. She’ll have to figure that out on her own."
"That’s fine." Fu Mingxue knew that people rarely left their jobs at this factory.
It was truly one person to one post.
If one person left, someone else would immediately fill the vacancy.
So the dormitories were bound to be full.
She had originally thought that since Director Geng was so well-connected, he might recommend a job at a different factory.
She hadn’t expected him to offer a position at his own factory.
After a moment’s thought, Fu Mingxue added, "Her woodcarving is excellent. If there’s a factory that does that kind of work, it would be even better."
She thought it would be a real shame for the girl to have to give up woodcarving.
Hearing this, Director Geng’s eyes lit up. "You say her woodcarving skills are good?"
Fu Mingxue nodded. "Yes, excellent."
"Well, if she has a skill like that, then she really shouldn’t come to our factory. There’s another factory that’s in need of exactly that kind of talent. We have a handicrafts factory here in the city. I think it would be a perfect fit for her."
"I’ll make a call right now."
Fu Mingxue immediately said, "Thank you, Director Geng. I’m sorry for all the trouble."
"It’s no trouble at all. Nothing to be sorry for. In fact, I should probably be thanking you!"
Director Geng dialed a number.
Someone picked up right away.
"Old Zheng, is your factory still hiring? I’m sending over a young woman who’s an incredible woodcarver... You are? Great. I’ll have her report to your factory tomorrow."
With that, he hung up the phone.
Then, he turned to Fu Mingxue with a smile and said, "Group Leader Fu, you heard him. The city’s handicrafts factory needs artisans like her. Have her come to our factory tomorrow, and I’ll arrange for someone to take her over."
"That’s so much trouble, Director Geng. Thank you!"
"Don’t mention it. Just remember to have her bring her letter of introduction and other paperwork, especially for her grain ration. They can transfer it directly to the other factory."
"Okay. I’ll be going now. I’ll have her come to the factory tomorrow."
After saying this, Fu Mingxue walked out.
When she got back in the car, Qin Wenhao asked, "Is it settled?"
Fu Mingxue nodded. "Yes, it is. Director Geng helped find her a job at the city’s handicrafts factory. Let’s go to the guesthouse now and tell her the good news."
"Okay." Qin Wenhao stepped on the gas.
The car drove off.
