Chapter 719: Finding Out

Wang Xiang gave Fu Mingxue a thumbs-up.

"Mingxue, you’re amazing! I can’t believe you know how to drive. By the way, is it hard? When did you learn?"

She was actually a bit puzzled.

When Mrs. Fu was here before, they had spent a lot of time together, and the Fu family didn’t seem all that special.

’How did they raise such an amazing daughter?’

"I studied a related field, so it’s a bit easier for me. Anyway, Sister-in-law, I need to go home and make dinner."

Fu Mingxue wasn’t one to over-explain things to others.

She unlocked the main gate with her key, stepping inside and closing it immediately, shutting out the prying eyes of the people outside.

She got home early today, so she hadn’t eaten at the factory cafeteria.

That meant she would have to make her own dinner.

After a moment’s thought, she decided to make some dumplings. It had been a while since she’d last cooked.

After all, she still had fresh meat stored in her space.

She pulled some scallions from her small vegetable patch and kneaded some dough.

By the time she finished wrapping the dumplings, half an hour had passed.

The next day, she drove to work.

As she drove into the factory, some people noticed her.

"Morning, Group Leader Fu!"

Fu Mingxue saw it was Li Zhao and nodded back. "Morning, Mr. Li!"

Li Zhao’s eyes lingered on the car for a couple of seconds, but he was tactful enough not to ask about it.

"By the way, Group Leader Fu, Director Geng just stopped by. He said we need to take a trip to the base. You should get ready; we’ll probably have to leave in about half an hour."

Fu Mingxue was a little surprised to hear this.

She nodded. "Alright, I understand."

’I need to go find Director Geng and see what’s going on.’

She didn’t linger, heading straight for Director Geng’s office.

Director Geng was just stepping out of his office. Seeing Fu Mingxue, he said hurriedly, "Group Leader Fu, perfect timing. The base needs you to make a trip over there. A problem has come up, and they need you to take a look. Li Zhao has to go as well. You’ll be leaving in half an hour."

"Alright. I’ll be back in half an hour."

With the trip confirmed, Fu Mingxue wasted no more time. She went straight to the lab to delegate some tasks to Chang Qingze.

After all, Chang Qingze was the deputy group leader.

Half an hour later, Fu Mingxue set off with Li Zhao.

However, they didn’t take the same car.

Li Zhao rode in Director Geng’s car.

Fu Mingxue, however, insisted on driving her own car.

She stated that she wouldn’t ask the factory for gas reimbursement and would pay for it herself.

Director Geng had no objection.

A short time later, Qin Wenhao returned from his mission.

He wasn’t surprised to find his wife wasn’t at home.

After he had debriefed from his mission, Director Xie told him about the time Fu Mingxue had been cornered.

This sent Qin Wenhao into a rage.

If Director Xie hadn’t quickly mentioned that the two brothers were still in custody, he probably would have stormed off to Li Village.

Director Xie wasn’t surprised in the least to see the furious look on Qin Wenhao’s face.

He was also thankful that Fu Mingxue had been able to protect herself last time and that nothing serious had happened.

"Oh, and don’t bother going to your wife’s factory. I hear she left on a business trip a while ago and still isn’t back."

Qin Wenhao: ...?

His brow furrowed.

He sighed internally.

’He knew that if his wife was on a business trip, she’d likely gone to the base.’

’That was good, too. After all, the base was very safe.’

Just then, Director Xie spoke up. "Say, since you’re finally back, why not come over to my place for dinner tonight?"

Qin Wenhao shook his head. "No, thank you. I’ll just cook something for myself."

’They had both been away from home for a while. He needed to take the time to tidy up.’
