"There is really no need for that." Han Ruochen curled her lips and insisted on refusing. She then looked around and asked, "Old Master, can you send someone to call for Brother Muchen? I am not being rude; I just have somewhere else to be." She did not visit her father earlier in the afternoon. Given that her father had the peculiar habit of worrying whether one of his kids had drowned or, worse, been caught by a police officer, she thought that it was time for her to go back home.

As for the person she was supposed to meet, she could only assume that he was not here at the moment.

"Wait," Old Master Xu said, exasperated when he heard Han Ruochen’s question. He knew that the woman was looking down at him, but he had no evidence to prove it. If he had a beard, then he was sure that it would be bristling with anger at the moment. Han Ruochen was such an unlikeable lady. She did not know how to please others or to make an elderly man like him happy. She was such a blockhead!

Did she only know how to fish and wade through the troubled waters?

Han Ruochen pursed her lips when she saw the old man shooting a glare at her. She had no idea why the man was upset with her, but she had done nothing wrong. She simply did what she thought was right. However, from the looks of it, the old man did not seem to think so. Fortunately, this time around the old man did not quarrel with her and left without making a fuss.

When Han Ruochen saw him leave, she sighed in relief. With the old man gone, she was finally able to relax.

However, just as she was about to sit down, someone came to stand in front of her and asked, "Do you know where the restroom is?" It was a lady’s voice. Han Ruochen raised her head and looked at the woman. She was pretty young and sounded quite haughty and arrogant.

Han Ruochen was clueless. Why was it that she kept bumping into people who were so full of themselves?

She pursed her lips and pointed to the room in the corner.

"Oh," Shen Lingxue nodded, then took ten yuan out of the handbag that she was carrying with her. She then threw the ten yuan bill in front of Han Ruochen. She then walked toward the restroom in her high heels.

"Crap, what is going on?" Han Ruochen, who caught the ten-yuan bill, looked at the money and curled her lips in disdain. "Just what kind of place did Brother Zhai bring me to?"

No matter whom she met, they turned out to be abnormal.

Han Ruochen wondered what to do with the ten yuan. She bent her knees and was about to sit down when the lady from before returned. "Are you skiving? You are not supposed to sit here."

"Miss, it seems like you have dropped your money." Han Ruochen pursed her lips and smiled sweetly. She returned the ten yuan to Shen Lingxue.

"No need; this is the tip I gave you for showing me the directions. But let me give you a piece of advice. You came to the Xu family’s residence to work, so even if they are good-tempered, you should not skive off. You should do what you are supposed to do. If people in the Xu family caught you skiving, you might lose your job."

This servant of the Xu family was so audacious that she was daring to skive around in broad daylight.

"Miss, I think you are misunderstanding something. I am not a worker here."

"You are not a worker? Then what are you?" Shen Lingxue’s eyes widened. She looked at Han Ruochen and then, after a short while, could not help but laugh out loud. "Are you here to become the last disciple of Old Master Xu? Just you?"

If just about anyone could become Old Master Xu’s disciple, then she would have never asked her father to arrange some sort of connections for her.

Han Ruochen did not understand what Shen Lingxue meant, but the latter continued with her tirade nonetheless. "How old are you? Are you already married? You might already have a child or two because you do look that old. Do you even know how to get into a boat? No, I should not have said that. From the looks of it, I think you know how to get inside a boat at least..."

It was not that easy to steer a boat, much less get into the boat and then wade through the sea. She glanced at the woman in front of her, and Shen Lingxue was filled with a hint of mockery in her heart. She did not believe that Han Ruochen could steer a boat, much less take care of fishing and wading through the troubled waters.

Shen Lingxue herself had worked herself to the bone before she was finally able to get skilled in steering the boat.

Han Ruochen: "..."

She realised that she was once again being undermined.

"I might be old, but I am not that old. And I can steer the boat quite well. The last time I went to the sea, I was able to return with a full haul." Han Ruochen was frowning hard when she thought about how everyone was looking down at her.

"I see, so you can catch some fish?" Shen Lingxue gave a scornful smile. She was more at ease now. "Bet you feel proud about catching a full haul. Little sister, let me give you a piece of advice... it is better to have a competitive advantage over others."

Han Ruochen laughed when she heard the contemptuous words of the woman. To put it bluntly, the woman was telling her that she had better connections when it came to gaining a foothold in society than Han Ruochen.
