Shen Lingxue’s face turned pale. "Mumu? What are you doing here? You should be taking my side! You should not be helping this outsider. I am your future sister-in-law—"

"Paa!" Zhai Mumu spat on the ground with a sneer on her face. She raised her hand and pointed a finger at Shen Lingxue’s face. "If you are daydreaming, then wake up. Pee on the ground and look at your reflection first. You? And my sister-in-law? These two words do not belong in the same sentence. My brother has never accepted that stupid engagement since he was a child. Yet you keep clinging to him shamelessly."

"What’s worse is that you actually came to cause trouble for Miss Han just because you lost your chance to become the disciple of Old Master Xu—"

"Like I would have accepted her as my disciple!" Old Master Xu stepped forward and slammed his wooden cane against the hard concrete with a loud, ringing thud. His grey eyes were fixed on Shen Lingxue as he spoke in an angry voice, "My disciple went to the sea. Took a dangerous task and returned safely. Do you even know how difficult it is for a person to actually dive into that dangerous channel and map out a map to travel through that path?"

He curled his lips and sneered coldly, "You do not! You only know how to rely on money and make flawed maps. Do you even know what the context of the deed that Miss Han has is? The deed that she owns is different from other ordinary ones. What she has done is something that no other person could ever do. Thus, the bureau actually established a state-partnered strategy. This port is not just a simple port; it comes under the state’s jurisdiction. It completely overrides the local commercial permit!"

Zhai Mumu sneered coldly when she saw Shen Lingxue’s face turn pale. She was quite enjoying the face slap that had been delivered. "Did you hear that? Even if your cousin holds a position in the bureau, you did not tell the truth to him, did you? You just asked him to prepare a document and made him stop the functioning of this dock. Maybe if you had been honest with him, he would have told you that he could not and did not have the authority to do so. You only caused more trouble for your cousin. Right now, he is sitting in the interrogation room after being apprehended."

Hearing these words, Shen Lingxue turned even paler. Her cousin was taken away for interrogation?

The old director narrowed his eyes dangerously. "I have already revoked the authority of your cousin and demoted him to a lower position. I also suggested a detailed investigation of what your cousin did all these years, and it would be better if he were not involved in any corruption."

Shen Lingxue’s face drained of all colour. "Wha... what? How could you do that, Old Master? How could you start a sudden investigation on my cousin like that?"

"I just did. Since you like to talk about official things so much, then I will deal with you and your cousin officially." Old Master Xu sneered as he rubbed the top of the cane that he was holding. "You better not cause any more trouble for my disciple from here on out, or else I will make sure that your family faces an investigation the next time."

Shen Lingxue’s face turned, if possible, even paler. She turned panicked, humiliated and stripped of her leverage. Seeing the old man protecting Han Ruochen so fiercely, she felt really annoyed, but what could she even do? She could only turn on her heel and flee.

Seeing her fleeing in complete disgrace, Zhai Mumu could not snort. She turned to look at Han Ruochen with a smile on her lips. "Are you alright, Sister Han? I am sorry that we did not clear this matter up ahead of you. Maybe if you knew that you had a state-registered dock, then you would not have been troubled. You could have talked about this matter with Miss Shen easily."

Han Ruochen smiled warmly at Zhai Mumu and Old Master Xu. "How did you two come just in time?" She did not think that it was just a coincidence.

"My brother called us; someone gave him a heads-up that Shen Lingxue was coming to cause trouble for you. So he asked us to come here and deal with her," Zhai Mumu explained. She had no idea why Zhai Muchen was keeping such a close eye on Han Ruochen. But it seemed like there was some hidden agenda because she had never seen her brother pay attention to a woman so much before. Thus, even though she had a mission to deal with, she still came to this small village to deal with Shen Lingxue.

Of course, there were some personal grudges involved as well.

When Han Ruochen heard that it was Zhai Muchen, who had sent them to her, her heart could not help but soften. Brother Zhai—he really cared about her. He even helped her out in such a troubled situation. If he had not sent his sister and Old Master Xu, Han Ruochen would have been worried that this matter would have escalated further and further. She pursed her lips into a thin yet warm smile before saying, "Thank you, Sister Mumu, Master."

Old Master Xu waved his hand. "I am your master; it is my responsibility to take care of you." He then turned to look at the thugs on the docks, and his eyes turned chilly. "And you all, do you want me to personally escort you all, or are you going to leave on your own?" He asked in a cold voice.

Old Scar was scared silly when he heard the old man’s words, though he had no idea who this old man was, he knew that his position was not low at all!
