Chapter 303: Let’s Go to Sleep

Lu Cheng hadn’t forgotten the scene he’d witnessed when he first returned: Shen Nian, surrounded by all those people.

While the joy of their reunion had overshadowed everything else, that didn’t mean Lu Cheng had forgotten, nor did it mean he wouldn’t look into it.

Shen Nian looked at Lu Cheng. If she wasn’t mistaken, was he asking her to tell on the people who had bothered her?

’Who would’ve thought? I was just imagining this earlier, and now it’s actually happening.’

"Don’t worry, I wasn’t bullied!"

Shen Nian said, looking at Lu Cheng. It was true that some people had *tried* to bully her, but she hadn’t let them get away with it!

But from the look on Lu Cheng’s face, he clearly wasn’t satisfied with that simple explanation.

"Alright, alright. I’ll tell you the whole story, just don’t get bored!"

"I won’t get bored."

Lu Cheng’s words warmed Shen Nian’s heart. She took a moment to recall the day’s events, organized her thoughts, and began to give Lu Cheng the full report.

"...and that’s what happened! Right when you showed up, she was about to complain that my gift was too cheap and probably wanted to use the chance to slander me. But in the end, her words just blew up in her own face! And then, you arrived!"

Shen Nian couldn’t help but chuckle when she mentioned how Liu Fanglan had made a fool of herself. Honestly, she was a little curious how all the gossips would react when they found out what Liu Fanglan had done today.

’It should be pretty entertaining!’

Lu Cheng’s expression darkened when he heard how Liu Fanglan had tried to bully Shen Nian. If Shen Nian hadn’t come out of it unscathed, he might have marched right over to their place to demand justice for her.

"In the future, if she does anything else to upset you, you don’t need to hold back."

Lu Cheng could tell that Shen Nian’s initial restraint with Liu Fanglan was because she was worried about his position.

"Huh? But this is your company’s housing! If I make a big scene, won’t it reflect poorly on you?"

"It won’t."

"Hmm?"

’Was I wrong about that? Does a family member’s behavior really have no connection to the employee? That doesn’t seem right...’ While Shen Nian was still pondering this, Lu Cheng quickly gave her an answer that she found both funny and exasperating.

"Someone of her status can’t affect me."

"Pfft!"

Shen Nian couldn’t hold it in and burst out laughing. If Liu Fanglan ever heard what Lu Cheng just said, with her personality, she’d probably be furious enough to die.

Still, with Lu Cheng’s words, Shen Nian really did feel a surge of confidence.

’If I don’t have to hold back when dealing with Liu Fanglan, then she’s a pretty weak opponent.’

’After all, if I don’t have to worry about the consequences, there are countless ways I can handle her.’

Lu Cheng didn’t continue the topic of Liu Fanglan. Instead, he looked at Shen Nian.

"I understand, but... aren’t you worried I might do something bad if I just do whatever I want?"

"You won’t. And even if you did do something bad, I’ll be there to take care of it."

’Oh my God,’ Shen Nian thought as she looked at Lu Cheng, ’my man is just so damn handsome!’

Shen Nian smiled, a brilliant, radiant smile.

"Okay, then you’d better remember what you said today!"

"Mm, I’ll never forget."

Shen Nian nodded in satisfaction. Then, she turned her head, and her gaze happened to fall on the wall clock. She gasped in surprise.

"Wow, it’s gotten so late! Let’s go to bed!"
