"I dreamed that Ke’er came back. She even called me ’Mommy’! Yaohui, is Ke’er really coming back?"

Gong Shiya looked at Gu Yaohui with a hopeful expression, her face lit with a radiant smile he hadn’t seen in a very long time.

Seeing Gong Shiya like this, Gu Yaohui’s heart was, of course, relieved, even joyful.

But upon hearing her words, his heart filled with bitterness.

If he had any news of their daughter’s whereabouts right now, perhaps he could have answered Gong Shiya with an unhesitating, definitive yes.

But as it stood, he had no clues at all. Even the small glimmer of hope sparked by the young girl Gu Hengzhi mentioned today had been instantly extinguished by his words.

Although Gong Shiya’s words were a question, she wasn’t actually waiting for Gu Yaohui’s answer. It was as if she didn’t even see the bitter look on his face; at this moment, her heart was completely filled with the daughter from her dream.

"Keren called me ’Mommy,’ and she hugged me! I’m so happy, Yaohui, I’m so, so happy!"

Gu Yaohui clenched the fists hanging at his sides. He could certainly feel Gong Shiya’s joy. He would do anything if it meant she could stay this happy forever.

They hadn’t found her yet, so he would keep searching. He would search the places they’d already looked again, and he wouldn’t let a single new place go, no matter how unlikely.

’We’ll find her. I know we’ll find her!’

Over at B University, the new semester had just begun. The first day was for registration, and to give students time to prepare, they weren’t required to report to their respective colleges and classes until the afternoon of the second day.

This meant the students were free for the morning.

In fact, many students hadn’t yet shaken off their long vacation habits and were continuing the "glorious tradition" of sleeping in on their first day back at school.

There was such a person in Dorm 304 as well.

But obviously, the one sleeping in in Dorm 304 was not Shen Nian. In fact, even Wang Chunhua and Qi Yunzhi had made plans with Shen Nian the day before to go for a morning run together.

So, when the only one left in the dorm, Cao Yuqing, finally woke up after sleeping in, she found the four-person room completely empty except for herself.

’Good, I’m alone,’ she thought. ’I didn’t want to see those people I hate anyway!’

With that thought, Cao Yuqing, who happened to be walking past Shen Nian’s desk, gave it a kick.

It was as if doing so could vent the resentment festering in her heart.

However, Cao Yuqing’s kick didn’t damage Shen Nian’s desk; instead, it just made her own foot hurt. Not only had she failed to vent her resentment, but she’d also managed to injure herself. Instantly, Cao Yuqing’s heart filled with even more hatred.

Without even thinking, she wanted to charge forward and destroy something belonging to Shen Nian and the others.

But before Cao Yuqing could do anything, she heard a knock at the door.

Cao Yuqing’s first reaction was that Shen Nian and the others were back, so she decided to just ignore it.

But the knocking continued, and it was even accompanied by a voice calling, "Open up!"

And the voice calling "Open up" was clearly not Shen Nian or the other two.
