Chapter 547: It’s Not My Loss, After All (5)

"This is huge news! And it’s about Xiao Nian!"

"About me?"

Shen Nian was surprised. For the past few days, she had been diligently attending her classes and spending the rest of her time holed up in the library. She hadn’t done anything earth-shattering—in fact, she’d barely even been out.

Professor Liang was still out of town and hadn’t returned to campus, so Shen Nian was taking advantage of this period to really work on her fundamentals.

’She couldn’t let Professor Liang return only to find she didn’t even know the most basic principles of Chinese medicine. At that point, she would be disgracing her master!’

"That’s right! It’s about you! The results for this year’s campus belle selection are out!"

"The Campus Belle selection?"

’Shen Nian really hadn’t expected this,’ she thought. ’This school is so ahead of the times. A Campus Belle selection? Was something like that already popular in this era?’

"Yep! The school picked five Campus Belles this time, and two of them are freshmen."

"Yunzhi, are you saying that Xiao Nian was chosen as a Campus Belle?"

Hearing Qi Yunzhi’s words, even Wang Chunhua, who was normally calm and uninterested in gossip, leaned in and asked in delighted surprise.

"Yes, yes! Our dorm has a Campus Belle now!"

"I’m actually sharing a dorm with a Campus Belle!"

"..."

Shen Nian was exasperated. ’A Campus Belle... can I just refuse the honor? Besides, I’ve been keeping a very low profile at school. It’s not like in the future, with its highly developed internet. How could a title like this possibly land on me?’

What Shen Nian didn’t realize, of course, was that her looks and demeanor had made her stand out among the freshmen from the very first day of school.

And as for the upperclassmen, Shen Nian had momentarily forgotten about Ruan Hongbo, the senior she had met earlier.

Ever since the new student orientation, Ruan Hongbo had been sparing no effort to talk up this beautiful junior, Shen Nian. As a result, unbeknownst to her, she had gained considerable popularity among the upperclassmen!

"You just said there were two from the freshman class. So, who’s the other one?"

Chu Lingxiu was also happy in her heart to hear that Shen Nian had been chosen. Although Lingxiu always felt that she wasn’t bad-looking herself, from the first moment she laid eyes on Shen Nian, she had thought Shen Nian was gorgeous—much more so than her.

’It was only right that Shen Nian was chosen as a Campus Belle,’ she thought. ’It would be strange if she *hadn’t* been!’

However, Chu Lingxiu wasn’t as ecstatic as Qi Yunzhi and Wang Chunhua. After a moment of surprise, her thoughts turned to the other one.

At Chu Lingxiu’s reminder, it dawned on Wang Chunhua as well, and she looked toward Qi Yunzhi.

But when Qi Yunzhi heard Chu Lingxiu’s question, her previously excited expression suddenly changed.

"The other one is Gu Shuxin, from 405."

It was no wonder Qi Yunzhi’s expression changed. Her impression of Gu Shuxin hadn’t been very good lately.

In her opinion, that Gu Shuxin was no match for their Xiao Nian at all.

If it weren’t for those false rumors, how could Gu Shuxin possibly have been chosen as a Campus Belle right alongside their Xiao Nian!

When Qi Yunzhi had first learned that those rumors were false, she had wanted to go and clarify the matter. But Shen Nian found out and stopped her. After all, it was someone else’s business, and it wasn’t worth it for Qi Yunzhi to get involved. She might have just ended up getting dragged into the mess herself.

Besides, a lie is a lie. Just talking about it won’t make it true!
