Chapter 608: My Ke’er Has Returned (Part 1)

Gu Hengzhi had already informed the family that Shen Nian would be visiting the Gu residence today, so both Gu Yaohui and Nanny Xu knew to expect her.

This was especially true for Nanny Xu. Although she didn’t know Shen Nian was coming to treat a family member, she was well aware that Shen Nian was someone the young master adored.

After all, the doll the young master treasured so dearly was a gift from the very young lady visiting today!

Therefore, Nanny Xu had started making preparations the moment she learned Shen Nian would be visiting.

"Eldest Young Master, Young Master, you’ve returned! This must be Miss Shen. Welcome, welcome!"

Nanny Xu’s demeanor toward Shen Nian was far more enthusiastic than it had been when Gu Shuxin visited previously. It was a classic case of "love me, love my dog"; of course she would give a warm reception to someone the young master was so fond of.

Besides, from the moment she first saw Shen Nian, Nanny Xu knew that this Miss Shen was a completely different type of person than the other Miss Gu who had visited before.

"This is Nanny Xu," Gu Hengzhi explained to Shen Nian. "She’s been with our family for a long time." He then nodded to Nanny Xu, clearly approving of her warm reception.

"Hello, Nanny Xu."

After Gu Hengzhi’s introduction, Shen Nian quickly greeted the nanny. ’Since Nanny Xu called me Miss Shen right away, she must have known I was coming. Clearly, Gu Hengzhi told his family about my visit... I just wonder what exactly he said.’

"Oh, hello! Miss Shen, please come in. Mr. Gu has been waiting for a while now."

The "Mr. Gu" Nanny Xu spoke of was naturally Gu Yaohui. Not only had the nanny made preparations, but so had the current head of the Gu family.

Shen Nian glanced from Gu Yaohui to Gu Zifan and back again. ’The resemblance between father and son is really quite strong.’

"Miss Shen, welcome."

Gu Yaohui rose to his feet upon hearing the voices from the entryway. His eyes lingered on Shen Nian for a moment before a smile touched his lips as he spoke.

"Mr. Gu, thank you for having me."

"There’s no need to be so formal, Miss Shen. You’re my son’s friend, so feel free to call me Uncle Gu. Besides, your visit today is for the sake of our Gu family!"

"Very well, Uncle Gu. In that case, please don’t call me Miss Shen. You can just call me Xiao Nian."

"Excellent. Then I won’t stand on ceremony, Xiao Nian."

Gu Yaohui gazed at Shen Nian, his smile growing even warmer than before. ’Now I’m starting to understand why Gu Zifan is so fond of this ’Sister Nian,’ and why Gu Hengzhi also holds her in such high regard.’

’This young woman truly earned it. After all, even he had taken a liking to her, and this was only their first meeting.’

"Please, have a seat. Nanny Xu, bring us some tea and refreshments."

Gu Yaohui gestured for Shen Nian to sit down, then turned his head and called to Nanny Xu.

Seeing his uncle’s attitude toward Shen Nian, Gu Hengzhi breathed an inward sigh of relief.

As for Gu Zifan, he held tightly to Shen Nian’s hand the entire time. He was delighted to see his father’s friendly attitude toward her, and he beamed, looking back and forth between Shen Nian and Gu Yaohui.
