Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't
Chapter 655 - 651: The World Revolves Around Me
"What? A weirdo like that actually exists?"
In the dorm, Estelle was completely shocked after hearing Cecilia’s story. "The truth is bound to come out eventually. What was that girl thinking? How did she even get into Lorcain Tech?"
Blair leaned back in her chair. "Honestly, don’t be so shocked. It takes all kinds to make a world, and I’ve learned that firsthand since I started my life online. My DMs are full of people asking to borrow money. If I don’t reply, they start cussing me out, saying I make so much as a streamer but won’t even lend them a tiny bit of cash. Like, ’What a waste of a follow!’"
"That girl is probably just trying to score some free stuff, thinking she’ll keep it up for as long as she can get away with it."
But Cecilia shook her head, a serious look on her face. "I actually think she’s going after the guy, Simon Spencer. I told her today she might as well just date him, and her eyes instantly lit up."
"She’s been eating all the food he sends. Over time, she probably started imagining it was all for her. I bet she’s been in love with him for a while now."
Estelle and Blair exchanged a look, then both nodded. "You might be right about that."
Estelle laughed. "Not many young people are thinking straight these days."
As if suddenly remembering something, Blair got up, walked over to her wardrobe, and pulled out an item of clothing.
"I finished it!"
It was the white cashmere sweater that Elias Warner had stained.
Blair’s incredible artistry had completely transformed it. The once pure-white sweater was now covered in color; she had painted a magnificent fireworks display across it.
Cecilia’s eyes widened in pleasant surprise. "It’s beautiful, babe! It’s been so long, I thought you’d given up on it!"
"I just worked on it in my free time when I wasn’t streaming. I’m glad you like it." Blair smiled, handing the sweater to Cecilia. She made sure to add, "I used a special kind of fabric paint, so it won’t fade. Don’t worry."
Cecilia couldn’t wait to try it on. Honestly, she rarely wore such colorful clothes, but the effect was surprisingly stunning.
Especially now, in the grim cold of early winter in Lorcain, wearing something so vibrant could completely change your mood.
Estelle was instantly jealous. She grabbed Blair’s arm and started whining playfully, "I want one too!"
This time, Blair didn’t refuse, agreeing readily. "Alright, I’ll paint one for you later."
Cecilia glanced at the time. Emeric Grant would be here any minute.
"I have to get my aunt checked into the hospital this afternoon. Emeric is coming to pick me up."
"We totally forgot until you mentioned it." Estelle sidled up and slung an arm around Cecilia’s neck, asking curiously, "So, how was it last night?"
Blair added hesitantly, "He wasn’t actually a virgin, was he?"
Cecilia looked at their reflections in the mirror, unable to suppress a smug, satisfied smile. She nodded. "Let’s just say he’s a natural!"
That was high praise indeed.
Estelle’s interest was instantly piqued. "What kind of natural?"
"In every way."
"Your luck is just too good, isn’t it?" Estelle pouted, exasperated. "Getting the secret rare from a blind box twice in a row? So all the defective duds get shipped off to Jane, and you get all the treasures?"
"What about the law of averages? Does it only apply to you?"
She thought about the guys Jane Sterling had slept with since coming back to the country. Not a single one had made the grade.
It was just like Jane’s classic saying: "I want a relationship with some length to it, but unfortunately, they’re never long where it counts, and they don’t last long when it counts."
So tragic!
"What can I say? The world just revolves around me." Cecilia checked her perfect makeup in the mirror, then turned and gently patted Estelle’s cheek. Leaving her with a gloating smile, she swayed her hips and sauntered out of the dorm.
Blair just smiled and shook her head.
’We’re both college students, so why is there such a huge gap between me and Cecilia?’
As Estelle snapped out of her daze, a sudden, inexplicable wave of depression washed over her.
Sensing how real her feelings were, Blair walked over to comfort her. "It’s not that the gap between you and her is big. It’s that none of us can compare to Cecilia."
That "none of us" said it all.
In Blair’s eyes, Cecilia was cool, perceptive, intelligent, and decisive. Her obvious beauty was almost the least dazzling thing about her.
’She’s strong and calm in a crisis and can always keep a clear head. That’s so rare!’
And in Estelle’s eyes, Cecilia was someone who did whatever she wanted without regrets or fear of the consequences.
’Ever since becoming friends with Cecilia, I’ve started talking a big game about guys and sex, but deep down, I’m still constrained. Every time I see Cecilia navigate her relationships so effortlessly, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of admiration, even idolization.’
’Relationships, men... they’re like spices in Cecilia’s life. She gets them when she wants them, and when she wants to leave, she does it cleanly, without dragging things out.’
’It’s just so elegant!’
’But I could never do that. I don’t even dare to take the first step.’
Outside the school gates, Emeric Grant saw Cecilia emerge and quickly got out of his car.
With a radiant smile, Cecilia jogged over and threw herself into his arms.
Emeric caught her securely, a smile gracing his features. "The hospital sent a car to pick up your aunt. We can meet them there directly."
"There’s a pickup service?"
Emeric explained, "It’s one of the private hospital’s value-added services. It’s available to all patients, not a special privilege. Don’t worry."
Cecilia nodded and handed Emeric the jacket she’d borrowed that morning. After she got in the car and took off her coat, he noticed her sweater was a riot of color.
"That sweater is pretty unique. It’s different from your usual style."
"One of my best friends painted it by hand."
"It’s beautiful."
Meanwhile, the private car from St. Jude’s Premium Hospital had already brought Yvonne Sterling to her destination.
Jasmine, Lily, and Ethan Sterling had all come for her admission today; only Brendan Harris was absent.
Emeric Grant’s father, Vice President Brian Grant, was even there to greet them personally at the entrance.
As soon as the two groups met, Mr. Grant greeted them warmly. "A pleasure to meet you all. I’m Emeric’s father, and I’m also the vice president of this hospital."
"You must be Cecilia’s mother? Ms. Sterling, you’re so young and elegant. All three of your children are so exceptional. I’m quite fond of Cecilia."
"And you must be Cecilia’s aunt? I’ve reviewed your case file. It’s nothing serious, so please don’t worry. Just rest and recover here with us, and we’ll make sure you leave in perfect health."
"Hello..."
Mr. Grant and his son, Emeric, were polar opposites in personality. When dealing with patients or anyone else, Emeric was often expressionless, his cold, severe aura creating a powerful sense of distance.
Mr. Grant, on the other hand, was a social butterfly. In the blink of an eye, he had already greeted everyone present.
