Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't
Chapter 740 - 736: Canceled Together
The main hall was already quiet. Besides the servers and the chefs behind the counter, the only other people in the entire space were Cecilia Sterling and Julie.
When Kylie Churchill called out, the two women instinctively turned to look, and a server immediately went to greet her.
"What’s wrong with you people?" Kylie Churchill asked the server, looking displeased. "I called several times and no one answered."
The server maintained a professional smile and explained patiently, "I apologize. Our policy requires staff to stay a certain distance from private dining rooms to ensure our guests’ privacy. There’s a service bell on the table in your room. You can just press it whenever you need us."
Kylie Churchill pouted and thrust out her hand impatiently. "You mean this thing? It’s not working at all!"
"I’m very sorry. The battery might be dead. Please wait a moment, I’ll take care of it right away."
The server was still very warm and professional, taking the service bell to replace the battery. But as Kylie Churchill turned around, she caught sight of Cecilia Sterling at the counter.
It was no wonder she noticed them. The two women at the counter were the only other guests in the main hall, making them stand out.
Cecilia was holding a small spoon in one hand and a sea urchin in the other. Behind her, the teppanyaki chef was preparing flaming shrimp. A burst of fire shot up from the grill, casting a warm, reddish glow on Cecilia’s delicate, beautiful cheeks.
"What are you doing here?"
Slightly surprised, Kylie Churchill walked a few steps closer to Cecilia. She glanced at the sashimi boat on the counter in front of her and couldn’t help but let out a cold sneer. "Didn’t you acquire Cirrus Palace? Why aren’t you eating at your own place instead of coming all the way to Aetherium?"
"What’s the matter? You know Cirrus Palace can’t compare to this place, don’t you?"
Before Cecilia could say a word, Kylie turned and walked away with a haughty look, muttering to herself, ’How ridiculous. Can’t even book a proper private room. I guess she can only sit at the counter and get roasted by the grill while she eats.’
"You know her?" Julie asked Cecilia curiously, snapping back to reality.
Cecilia scooped out the rest of the sea urchin with her spoon, popped it into her mouth, and explained without hiding anything, "My ex-boyfriend’s current girlfriend."
"No wonder," Julie said, her expression one of understanding. No wonder the tension was so thick.
Cecilia wasn’t about to let some silly girl ruin her dining experience. She continued to eat with gusto.
Kylie Churchill, on the other hand, had put on a proud and haughty front, but the moment she turned away, she was fuming. She stomped back to the private room, puffed up with anger.
Shawn Lane noticed her expression was off and couldn’t help but ask with concern, "What’s wrong, Kylie? Did the server make you angry?"
It was a minor issue. The server had already replaced the battery, so there was no need to be angry about that.
"Of course I’m not angry at the server!" Kylie pouted. "Do you know who I just saw outside?"
Shawn Lane looked at her, and a specific person’s image immediately formed in his mind. "Cecilia Sterling?" he blurted out.
"How did you know?" Kylie asked, slightly startled.
Shawn Lane shrugged and smiled. "There aren’t many people who can make you this angry. She came for Japanese food, too?"
Kylie Churchill nodded.
Shawn Lane was instantly lost in memories. He still remembered that Cecilia loved Japanese food. In fact, he was the one who had taken her to have it for the first time. She had said Japanese cuisine was too expensive, and she could never bring herself to spend the money on it.
Even the amazed expression on her face as she took her first bite of salmon was still vivid in his memory. It all seemed like it had happened just yesterday.
But thinking about it now, he could no longer tell which of Cecilia’s words or expressions had been genuine. ’It’s like I never knew her at all.’
"It’s pretty funny, though. She and her friend are sitting all by themselves at the counter in the main hall. I guess her membership level isn’t high enough to get a private room." Kylie Churchill didn’t notice Shawn’s expression and was still fuming to herself.
Shawn Lane snapped out of his thoughts and comforted her softly, "Don’t worry about it. We’ll just eat our meal. We’re in a private room, so we can’t see them anyway."
Only then did a smile return to Kylie Churchill’s face. "Then you should eat more. The quality of this sashimi does look amazing."
About an hour and a half later, the two of them finished their meal and came out of the private room.
"Miss Churchill, I hope you enjoyed your meal. Were you satisfied with the dishes today? Please let us know if there was anything lacking, and we will work to improve." A server immediately brought their shoes over and asked about their dining experience.
Kylie Churchill replied casually, "It was alright. The sashimi quality was good, but the tatami cushions were a bit hard. My butt started to hurt after sitting for a while. You should have some softer cushions available. Everything else was fine."
"Understood. We’ll record your feedback. We look forward to your next visit."
Coming from the back, they had to pass through the main hall again. Cecilia and Julie hadn’t finished eating yet, mainly because they were eating slowly and chatting the whole time.
Kylie Churchill instinctively glanced over at them. Seeing that Cecilia was still there, she provocatively linked her arm with Shawn Lane’s and lifted her chin slightly, like a proud peacock.
Shawn Lane’s expression also grew colder by a few degrees when he saw Cecilia. He was clearly still holding a grudge against her over the matter of the artificial intelligence program.
Cecilia, for her part, saw them too, but she only gave them a brief glance before acting as if she hadn’t seen them at all.
The encounter passed without incident, with neither side trying to stir up trouble. But just as Kylie Churchill was about to step out of the restaurant, a server suddenly ran after them. "Miss Churchill, please wait a moment."
Kylie Churchill stopped and turned around. "What is it?"
The server glanced nervously at Shawn Lane, who was standing beside Kylie, before speaking. "I’m sorry, Miss Churchill, but you need to settle the bill for your meal now."
"Settle it now? Just charge my card directly. I’ve got hundreds of thousands left in my account, don’t I?"
With that, Kylie Churchill turned to leave but was once again stopped by the server.
Her face showed her impatience, but before she could get angry, the server quickly said, "Miss Churchill, your membership has been canceled, so you’ll need to pay for this bill separately."
"Are you kidding me? My membership was canceled?" Kylie Churchill’s eyes went wide with disbelief.
Shawn Lane also frowned deeply. "What’s going on? Who authorized you to do this?"
"It... It was..."
The server stammered, not daring to explain, when Cecilia walked up to them, a smile on her face. "I did it," she said, looking at the two of them. "Do you have any questions?"
They both stared at Cecilia, their expressions a sight to behold.
"You?" Kylie Churchill was stunned. "How dare you?"
Then she glared fiercely at the server. "I have a platinum card here! I spend hundreds of thousands a year at this place, and this is how you treat your premium members? You just cancel my membership whenever you feel like it?"
The server remained silent. After all, their boss was standing right there.
"What’s the meaning of this silence? I’m a platinum card holder, and my dad has a diamond card! We’re..."
"What’s your father’s name?" Cecilia asked, interrupting Kylie Churchill.
Kylie Churchill scowled, glaring viciously at Cecilia.
Cecilia shrugged. "It’s fine. We can always look it up in our system."
With that, Cecilia turned to Julie and said, "Cancel her father’s membership, too."
