Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't

Chapter 747: Don't Mention It Again

“I-Is this really going to work?”

Yvonne Sterling looked utterly unconvinced. It was only natural to feel intimidated by something completely unfamiliar. Besides, her sister’s company was doing so well, and she was terrified of messing things up.

But Jasmine Sterling had complete faith in her sister. “Why wouldn’t it work? You haven’t even started learning yet, so how can you already decide you can’t do it?”

“Listen to me. It’s really not that hard. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll have truly put down roots here in Lorcain.”

“I’m not trying to tie you down. You’re just not sure what you want to do yet, right? If you have your own ideas in a few years, you can go do that. Just think of this as a training ground. It’s our family’s company, so you don’t have to walk on eggshells. If any problems come up, I’ll have your back.”

With her sister putting it like that, it would be melodramatic to refuse again. Besides, she had already agreed. She had to at least give it a try to see if she was capable.

So, Yvonne Sterling braced herself and nodded. “Alright then, I’ll give it a try.”

She looked at Manager Tate and smiled sheepishly. “Manager Tate, I’m a bit of a slow learner. Sorry to trouble you.”

“It’s no problem. Just take your time. We have plenty of it.”

“Okay.”

Jasmine Sterling gave a knowing smile, exchanged a few more words with Felix Tate, and then led Yvonne Sterling out.

“Cecilia said everything’s settled with Brendan Harris, right?”

“Yes. She arranged for him to be the manager of the security department at Cirrus Palace. Yesterday was his first day.” Yvonne Sterling couldn’t help but laugh as she said this. “Brendan Harris thought being a security guard would be a breeze and that he wouldn’t have to learn anything. But when he got there, he discovered he had to learn how to use computers. The security monitoring room has dozens of screens and the equipment has tons of buttons. He said his head was spinning after just one day.”

Jasmine Sterling nodded empathetically. “We’re in a high-tech era. Machines are replacing manual labor, so people have to learn how to control the machines, or they’ll be left behind by society. It’s good to learn; once you have a skill, it’s yours forever. This is Lorcain. Cecilia doesn’t want you guys to be overworked, but you still need to learn some marketable skills.”

“That’s what Brendan Harris said, too. He’s really happy. He works from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, right on the dot. He drives around in his new car, pleased as punch. He said it’s all thanks to Cecilia, and that his life is getting more and more comfortable.” At that, Yvonne Sterling instinctively asked, “Speaking of Cecilia, where is she? Is her school starting soon?”

Jasmine Sterling glanced at the time. “She should be heading to the airport around now. Ethan’s coming back today.”

「Lorcain International Airport.」

Cecilia Sterling arrived just in the nick of time, right as Ethan Sterling was walking out of the arrivals gate.

She saw her brother from a distance, looking radiant. He was walking and talking with Helen White beside him. When he spotted the sister who had come to pick him up, he broke into a wide grin and waved from afar. “Sis!”

As they drew closer, Helen White greeted her first. “Hi, it’s nice to see you.”

Cecilia Sterling offered a small smile in return. Looking at the two of them, she asked, “So? Did you have fun on your trip?”

“It was great!” the two said in unison. Ethan added, “Even though the teams from Cathay only made it to the semifinals at the Global Finals this year, watching it live was a completely different experience. We also got to see a lot of the foreign players we both like. The trip was so worth it!”

“Thank you, Cecilia, for helping us get the tickets,” Helen White said sincerely.

“I’m glad you had fun.” Cecilia beckoned to them. “Come on, my car is parked across the way.”

“I’ll pass on the ride. My dad’s coming to pick me up; he should be here any minute.”

Cecilia nodded. “Alright. We’ll get going then. See you later.”

Ethan also said his goodbyes to Helen White. “I’m heading out then. See you when school starts. You still owe me dinner, don’t forget.”

“You’ll get it! Bye, Cecilia!”

On the way back, Ethan chattered on and on, telling his sister all the fun stories from his trip. It was his first time traveling abroad, and judging by his reaction, he was clearly very satisfied.

“So, did you take care of business?” Cecilia asked suddenly.

Ethan was taken aback. “Huh? What business?”

“You used such valuable tickets to take her with you. Wasn’t it so you could invite her to join your team? How did it go?”

Her reminder made it click. “Oh, that. She said she’d give it some serious thought.”

“You didn’t run into any trouble while you were abroad, did you?”

“Nope. I followed your instructions to the letter. I didn’t leave the hotel after nine at night.”

At this, Ethan thought of something and couldn’t help but steal a glance at his sister.

Cecilia said immediately, “If you have something to say, just say it.”

Ethan hesitated for a moment before speaking. “Is Yvonne… really not Mom’s biological daughter?”

He had been abroad when the news broke. His first reaction was that it had to be fake, but later, his mother had confirmed it was true.

Cecilia knew her brother would ask about this. She couldn’t help but let out a soft sigh. “Yeah. But it’s in the past now. No one brings it up anymore, and you shouldn’t either.”

“I get it.” Ethan lowered his gaze, agreeing with a mix of complicated emotions.

‘Even though he absolutely thought of Yvonne as his real sister, knowing the truth still made things feel… different. It was unavoidable.’

After getting home and unpacking his bags, Ethan headed straight for the Esports Base at Solara Tower.

After several months of renovations, the Esports Base was completely transformed. It had been perfectly recreated according to the original designs, right down to the crystal decorations his sister had prepared for him, which were all in place.

Comfortable, luxurious… it was obviously on a completely different level from other schools’ team facilities. Ethan looked it over, inside and out, and was extremely satisfied.

“All that’s missing now is the equipment,” Golden Blade said from the side. “That stuff is too specialized; we had to wait for you to get back to set it up.”

Nodding, Ethan took out his phone and filmed a long video, which he immediately sent to Helen White. “The base renovation is done! Look how awesome it is! Imagine how amazing it would be to train and play in a place like this. Think about it, quick! I’m waiting for you!”

He had just sent the video when the sound of a drill, BRRRRT, echoed from down the hallway.

“Is someone still renovating in here?”

Golden Blade grimaced in disgust. “It’s that Owen Griffin’s team. They rented a base on this floor too. This entire winter, except for a few quiet days over the New Year, they’ve been drilling from before eight in the morning until it gets dark.”

“I was originally going to stay at the base to keep an eye on things for you, but it was impossible to get any rest, so I gave up on that idea.”

“Ethan, are you going to buy the equipment later? I’m free, so I can go with you!”

“Not today. I have something important this afternoon. Let’s do it tomorrow. I’ll go tomorrow.” As he spoke, Ethan found “Holly” in his WhatsApp and sent her a message: “Holly, I’m back from my trip. Can we meet tonight?”
