Melody Summers feigned confusion and asked, "Don’t you have your own knockout drug? I just got injected with one! It’s not like you’re out, so why do you have to get it from me? What are you planning?"

Seeing that Melody Summers wasn’t cooperating, Hayden Jennings stared at her darkly for a long moment. Then he turned to Yuri Walsh and said, "Starve her for two days. No food, and especially no water! Once she’s starved into submission, she’ll know what to do!"

Without another word, Hayden Jennings turned and hurried out of the basement. He had to seize the opportunity, before that woman Cindy Hughes got too far away, and find a way to drag her back!

Melody Summers: "..."

Watching Hayden Jennings’s retreating figure, Melody Summers complained to Albus in her mind, ’This Hayden Jennings is a real psycho...’

’I was hoping to get some information out of him, but I didn’t expect him to go completely off-script and just run away!’

’But then again, who would have thought that a paranoid, twisted madman who conducts human experiments would be so thoroughly fooled by Maeve Summers? He thought he had Maeve under his thumb, but he couldn’t even see that her identity was a fake. He’d believed she was his benefactor’s daughter, Cindy Hughes, this whole time. It just goes to show, being overconfident isn’t a good thing...’

After Hayden Jennings left, Yuri Walsh glanced at Melody Summers with a complicated expression. "Melody," he urged, "things have come to this. Just hand over the knockout drug, or else..."

Otherwise, given Hayden Jennings’s methods, Melody Summers was bound to suffer.

That wasn’t something Yuri Walsh wanted to see.

Melody Summers looked up, her eyes meeting Yuri’s for a moment. She retorted, "Why do you absolutely have to have that knockout drug? What are you going to use it for? ...What exactly are you people doing?!"

Yuri Walsh didn’t answer her. He just gave Melody a look filled with heartache and regret, then sighed, turned, and left the basement.

Melody Summers: "..."

Melody Summers complained to Albus in her mind again, ’How could I forget? This Yuri Walsh is a psycho, too!’

’Now they’ve all run off. How am I supposed to get any information? Don’t tell me I’m really going to just sit here tied up for two days.’

A wave of despair washed over Melody Summers at the thought. She tried shouting a few more times, but no one answered. It was as if she were the only person left in the entire villa.

After sitting on the chair, bored out of her mind for a while, Melody Summers called out to Albus in her head again: "White, help me look around. Are there any cameras nearby?"

A few minutes later, after getting a negative reply from Albus, Melody Summers finally felt safe enough to slip into the space.

Having been tied up for four or five hours, Melody was sore all over. She stood on the lawn of The Arcadian Space, stretched luxuriously, and loosened up her limbs. Then she picked a bunch of grapes and ate them to regain some energy.

She then pulled out her phone and sent a message to her family, letting them know everything was fine and that they shouldn’t worry about her, just take good care of her aunt.

Once she was done, Melody Summers reluctantly left the space and returned to the dark, cramped basement. It took quite a struggle for her to tie herself back onto the chair.

Just as Melody was about to close her eyes and rest for a bit, she heard the sound of a lock turning at the door.

A few seconds later, the door opened, and Yuri Walsh walked in carrying a tray.

He cautiously kept his distance from Melody and said in a gentle voice, "You must be hungry. Would you like something to eat?"

Melody glanced at the tray. On it were bread, steak, a creamy soup, and some cherry tomatoes.

Melody raised an eyebrow at the sight. "Didn’t Hayden Jennings say he was going to starve me for two days? What’s this, then?"

Yuri Walsh said nothing. He picked up a fork, speared a small piece of pre-cut steak, and held it to Melody’s lips. "I made this myself. Try it, see if you like it."

The aroma of the steak filled the air, smelling absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, Melody had just eaten and had no appetite.

She didn’t even glance at the food Yuri offered, turning her head aside. "I wouldn’t dare eat that," she said coldly. "What if you poisoned it?"

At her words, Yuri Walsh’s expression turned downcast. He sighed and explained in a low voice, "I wouldn’t. I would never hurt you. Locking you up... I had no other choice."

When Melody remained silent, her face cold, Yuri continued to persuade her. "Melody, just hand over the knockout drug. As soon as you do, we’ll let you leave."

Melody stared at Yuri for a long moment before she finally couldn’t hold it in any longer and let out a snort of laughter. "PFFT. Yuri Walsh, who are you trying to kid? You think you’d let me go if I actually gave you the drug?"

’You’d be more likely to kill me to shut me up!’

At that, Yuri lowered his gaze. After a moment of silence, he took a deep breath and said to Melody with grave seriousness, "Even if I can’t let you go right away, I can always take care of you!"

Melody Summers: "..."

As Melody stared at him as if he were a complete moron, Yuri squatted down to her level, meeting her eyes. He said softly, "Melody, I really, truly like you. Just hand over the drug, and I’ll convince the Teacher to give you to me..."

"...Then I’ll take you away. I’ll keep you at my house, and you’ll want for nothing for the rest of your life!"

Melody Summers: "..."

Melody was so incensed by Yuri’s words that she let out a bitter laugh. She was just about to curse him out when a figure suddenly burst in through the door. Before Melody or Yuri could react, the person lifted a hand and violently smacked the tray out of Yuri’s hands, sending it crashing to the floor!

"Yuri Walsh! How dare you cheat on me! Do you really think I’m a pushover?!" Joy Jennings’s eyes were red with fury; she had clearly heard every word Yuri just said.

Looking at the mess on the floor, Yuri pinched the bridge of his nose in irritation. "Who let you in?" he said coldly. "Get out!"

Joy Jennings couldn’t believe Yuri could be so cruel. To be caught in the act and still have this attitude! She was trembling with rage, but she didn’t want to lash out at him, so she turned and shot a venomous glare at Melody Summers instead.

Melody Summers: "..."

Melody had never been so speechless in her entire life.

Seeing that Melody’s face showed no trace of guilt or shame either, Joy could no longer hold back. She raised her hand and swung it hard at Melody’s face—

However, the expected sound of a slap never came. Instead, a piercing scream erupted from Joy’s mouth the next second. "AHHH—!"

Melody had sunk her teeth into Joy’s hand. In moments, the rich, coppery tang of blood spread through her mouth.

She pictured herself as the female homeowner from 1404. No matter how Joy struggled, she refused to let go, as if she intended to tear the flesh from the bone, skin and all.

Seeing this, Yuri rushed to pry open Melody’s jaw, finally managing to free Joy’s hand from her mouth.

Staring at the bloody teeth marks gushing on her hand, Joy, furious and in pain, shrieked through her tears, "You actually dared to bite me?! I’m going to kill you!"

After this chaotic scene with Joy and Yuri, Melody lost all patience for waiting.

She turned her head and spat the mouthful of blood viciously onto the floor. Then she looked at Yuri and said, "Yuri Walsh, go get Hayden Jennings. I agree to give him the knockout drug! Tell him to come see me himself!"
