To Yuri Walsh and Hayden Jennings’s surprise, the bullet from Yuri’s gun missed Melody Summers entirely, striking the wall behind her with a loud BANG.

Melody Summers, who had been standing in the center of the room, had simply vanished into thin air!

Just as Hayden Jennings and Yuri Walsh were wondering if their eyes were playing tricks on them, another gunshot rang out—BANG!

In that instant, blood sprayed from Yuri Walsh’s chest!

Yuri Walsh slowly looked down, staring in shock at the red stain spreading across his chest. The air seemed to stand still in that moment.

The next second, the gun fell from his hand, and he staggered before collapsing to the ground.

The anger on Melody Summers’s face hadn’t faded. She walked over, gave Yuri Walsh a vicious kick, and muttered, "You bastard. I’ve put up with you more than enough times. You just had to have a death wish! I gave you an out, and you spat on it! Go on, go reunite with your sister!"

Seeing Melody Summers vanish into thin air and then suddenly reappear, Hayden Jennings was utterly dumbstruck.

He tremblingly raised a hand to his chest and stammered, "You... how did you... How could you..."

Seeing Hayden Jennings’s expression, Melody Summers suddenly felt a playful urge to mess with him.

A mocking smile played on her lips as she spouted some nonsense. "This is the latest invention from Professor Paige Walsh: the ’Neural-Control and Optical-Camouflage-Based Genetic Modification to Surpass Human Limits and Achieve Instantaneous Movement.’ Pretty amazing, right? Way more impressive than that zombie virus you cooked up!"

Hayden Jennings: "..."

Seeing Hayden Jennings’s expression like he’d just seen a ghost, Melody Summers frowned in dissatisfaction. "...Hey! Don’t look at me like that. I’m telling you the truth!"

"Didn’t I tell you? You’re a worthless piece of crap. You’re not even fit to carry Professor Walsh’s shoes. You deserve to be under her heel for the rest of your life! And you call yourself a prodigy? You were just propped up by your family’s money, you have no real ability of your own. Just take your academic garbage and get the hell off Terra!"

Hayden Jennings’s fury boiled over at Melody Summers’s words. In his blind rage, he didn’t even care that she had a gun and lunged straight for her. "You little bitch! I’ll kill you!"

But before he could even touch Melody Summers, a figure burst in through the door and sent Hayden Jennings flying with a single kick!

"Don’t move! Hands up!"

As the voice rang out, Officer Tristan Tanner, dressed in a police uniform, quickly pounced on Hayden Jennings, pinning his arms behind his back and restraining him.

Melody Summers’s eyes widened as she looked at the officer who had just burst in. "Officer Tanner?... What are you doing here?!" she exclaimed in surprise.

While cuffing Hayden Jennings, Tristan replied, "Our undercover agent was in danger. Of course we had to come and ensure your safety!"

Melody Summers: "..."

Melody Summers wrung her hands, trying to suppress the awkwardness of having her fake undercover act exposed right to her face by the police.

Just as Melody Summers was about to explain, several more heavily armed police officers entered the room.

Roman Rhodes was the last to enter. Seeing that Melody Summers was unharmed, he let out a sigh of relief. The first thing he said was, "You kids never listen! How many times have I told you? If you run into danger, the first thing you do is call the police..."

Sensing another long-winded lecture coming, Melody Summers quickly cut him off. "Alright, alright! That’s enough! I know!"

"I was going to call the police as soon as I got the evidence! What if you guys came and tipped them off?! Didn’t you already come up empty that time at The Serene Leaf Teahouse?"

The words had barely left Melody Summers’s mouth when, before Roman Rhodes could reply, Tristan Tanner pointed at Yuri Walsh’s body and asked, "This... isn’t this Dr. Walsh?!"

He looked up at Melody Summers, asking in astonishment, "...Did you shoot him?!"

Melody Summers glanced down at Yuri Walsh and shrugged. "Oh, yeah. But it was self-defense! He was working with Hayden Jennings!"

As she spoke, Melody Summers waved the voice recorder in her hand. "He and Hayden Jennings developed that zombie virus together! He even tried to shoot me. I’ve got it all on tape!"

No sooner had Melody Summers finished speaking than Hayden Jennings, who had been lying on the floor with an ashen face, seemed to have a switch flipped. He suddenly burst up, struggling to raise his body, and roared in Melody’s direction, "It’s not a zombie virus! It’s a magnificent breakthrough that pushes past human limits!"

The officer pinning Hayden Jennings down saw this and slapped him on the back of the head, barking, "Shut up! Settle down!"

Officer Tristan Tanner looked at Yuri Walsh’s closed eyes, his own filled with disbelief. He murmured, "I can’t believe it... Dr. Walsh just won the State Award for Medical Contribution last week. He was the medical center’s youngest specialist professor..."

’Such a promising young man. He started life at a height most people could only dream of reaching, and his future should have been so bright. Why couldn’t he see reason? Why did he have to get involved in all this nonsense...’

Melody Summers could guess what Officer Tristan Tanner was thinking and snorted coldly. "Who knows. The Walshs are all psychos. They got tired of their cushy lives and decided they wanted to find new ways to die..."

Speaking of the Walshs... Melody Summers immediately asked, "Right, did you go arrest the Walshs? Yuri Walsh’s father and his uncle are both accomplices of Hayden Jennings. That Autumn Sawyer was just a scapegoat they pushed out to take the fall! ...And the Jennings Family, don’t you let any of them get away!"

Roman Rhodes nodded and replied, "Don’t worry, the police will conduct a thorough investigation. No one who needs to be arrested will get away. ...Alright, this isn’t the place to talk. Let’s go outside!"

A few officers carried out Yuri Walsh’s body and escorted the ashen-faced Hayden Jennings out of the basement, with Melody Summers following close behind.

But to her surprise, upon returning to the villa’s living room, she saw several women lying in the center of the room. They were in ragged clothes with disheveled hair, emaciated, and their exposed skin was covered in bruises. Their mouths were sunken in, clear victims of Hayden Jennings’s vicious experiments.

Seeing the scene before her, Melody Summers’s heart ached. She couldn’t help but ask, "Officer Rhodes, what’s the plan for them?"

Roman Rhodes replied, "First, we’ll send them to Professor Walsh... Professor Walsh’s lab is already developing a vaccine. Maybe there’s still time..."

Melody Summers remembered she still had some S Level Far Sea Secret Medicine and asked, "So, can I go visit them after a while?"

’Melody Summers planned to wait until Paige Walsh’s research was done, then find a chance to give them the S Level Far Sea Secret Medicine. They never should have had to endure this senseless disaster.’

"I think that should be fine. I’ll ask for you when the time comes." Seeing Melody Summers’s dejected expression, Roman Rhodes patted her on the shoulder and comforted her, "Alright, don’t dwell on it. You did your best to save them. What happens next is out of your hands... Okay, let’s get you home. Your family must be worried sick!"

...

It was late into the night when Melody Summers was brought home. The Summers Villa was still brightly lit.
