Chapter 148: Crossing the Line?

Red searched for the Kobold Scouts, moving quietly. This was a new type of battle for him, and he won it as he found two more Kobold Scouts. They were eight trees away from where he killed the first two Kobold Scouts.

These two Kobold Scouts were not looking for him. They were watching the ambush and discussing something in their language. He didn’t give them the chance to do whatever they discussed as two arrows pierced their heads.

The two Kobold Scouts’ bodies fell on top of the hobgoblins. That seemed to disrupt the fight and killed that unfortunate hobgoblin in the process. Red cringed a little, but then shrugged. That was just that hobgoblin’s bad luck to be in that position.

In fact, it was not his fault, but the two Kobold Scouts’. If they didn’t stand there, their bodies would not fall onto that hobgoblin. He shrugged and searched for more Kobold Scouts.

He guessed that there were more than just four Kobold Scouts following him. He found three more, observing the battle from the tree. Red was about to shoot them down, but then he noticed two more Kobold Scouts approaching.

He quickly changed the target toward the two moving kobolds as the initial three kobolds were observing the battle intensely. Two quick succession shots were fired. He had gotten a lot better with his aim, as he hit them in the head.

Fortunately, the two bodies fell on an empty spot, not on top of the goblins or hobgoblins. One of the initial three Kobold Scouts noticed the falling bodies. It alerted its friend only when an arrow pierced its friend’s head.

Before it could figure out what happened, another arrow hit its last comrade in the head. That was when the last Kobold Scout snapped and moved. It immediately stood and ran away, but there was no way it could escape from Red, who had extra Dexterity from the blessing.

Red chased after the last Kobold Scout. An arrow was nocked on his bow, aiming for the running kobold. The thick canopy became his obstacle this time, but he managed to find a gap and fired.

The arrow hurtled through the leaves and hit the Kobold Scout’s thigh. That was a miss as Red aimed at the head, but that was enough. The Kobold Scout failed to land properly and fell off. It fell headfirst to the ground, and that should be enough to kill it.

That last missed shot helped his Bow Mastery reach level 7. He was not surprised to hear the notification since it was about time for his Bow Mastery to reach the next level.

"That makes it nine... There should be more, right?" He muttered as the ninth Kobold Scout fell.

He searched for more Kobold Scouts instead of assisting the battle. The initial ambush reduced the number of kobolds by half, and three more Elite Kobold Fighters were dead, leaving seven of them.

The kobolds realized that they could not escape and decided to fight it out. It had become a battle, but it was in the goblins’ favor with their numerical advantage. At this point, the kobolds were fighting just for the sake of killing the goblins, not to win or survive.

Red continued his hunting and found eight more Kobold Scouts. He killed them all with an arrow to their heads. He tried to look for more, but he could no longer find any of them after five minutes of searching.

That was when he decided to help with the fight, but that side didn’t really need his help as the battle was over. It was a quiet sight to see bloody corpses everywhere.

Since the battle was over, he came down and searched for the Kobold Scouts he killed. He didn’t plan to loot the one he didn’t kill, but he was not going to give up the ones he killed.

Red saw how powerful the Goblin Champion was as he saw the mangled bodies of the Elite Kobold Fighters. For them to do it to the Elite Kobold Fighters told him that he was still far from the Goblin Champion.

’Maybe I can match it with my Infernal Berserk... maybe...’

He thought to himself as he found his first Kobold Scout’s body. It was easy to find because of the Kobold Scout’s cloak and an arrow in their head. He did Appraisal on them all, and the lowest level of the Kobold Scout was actually level 20.

He exchanged the body for loot, which gave him three inferior cores, two Might Cores, and one Magic Core. Those three cores quickly disappeared as they appeared.

He was about to look for more of his Kobold Scouts until a raging voice rang out.

"What are you doing!? This is not yours!"

He didn’t know why, but he felt like the words were directed toward him. Just a hunch, but he wished he was wrong. He wished it was just a fight between two hobgoblins until he turned around and found the cynical Goblin Champion walking toward him.

"Don’t you dare take the loot from us! I didn’t see you in the battle! You didn’t fight with us! How dare you take the loot!" The Goblin Champion was getting angrier, pointing at Red with his axe threateningly.

He was calm, and his mind was telling him that he should act carefully. He was facing a Goblin Champion, not a hobgoblin, telling himself to be mindful with his words.

"This is my loot. I killed that kobold myself," Red showed the arrow in his head. He retrieved the arrow after the body disappeared.

"LIAR! I DIDN’T SEE YOU IN THE BATTLE!" The Goblin Champion screamed louder, picking up his axe. Each step created a loud thud on the ground, still had the axe pointing toward Red.

Red could tell that this Goblin Champion might want to take this chance to kill him. He was not going to die here and not going to die at the hands of supposedly his ally.

He directed his right palm toward the angry Goblin Champion. Using six times his mana, he activated his Fireball.
