Chapter 256 - 3.13 The Life of Chronos (3)

Zander kissed her again because he knew she was too confused and thinking too much. She grabbed his hair and they made out on the beach for a few minutes before she finally pulled away, looking him directly in the eyes.

"I won’t tell anyone. I promise."

"I know Nyx. But why does Fleur treat me kindly and say similar things, just not nearly as eloquently or sincerely or as much as you do."

’Shit I knew I had competition.’ She thought sadly.

"Probably because you’re one of a kind. Is she a good person?"

"An amazing one. Just not as amazing as you."

"Do you think I should talk to her and maybe try to help stop the demons and faeries from fighting?

"Zander you just literally told this woman she has direct competition for your heart and instead of being jealous she offers to help. I know you like Fleur too but Nyx, she’s something special. Keep them both close to you but do not break this woman’s heart. It will cause more conflict on Earth."

"Oh no. I’ve caused more problems than I have solutions already haven’t I?"

"That depends on how you navigate through this. I think you should still treat Fleur very well and be personable with her, but I don’t think you should give your heart to anyone other than Nyx right now. That could change, but let her know you’re committed to her if she wants that."

"That is very thoughtful of you. Yes, I would really like that but there’s something else I would like to know."

"Sure, what is it, Zander?"

"Is today a date?"

Nyx thought about what he really meant by this question. Was he asking her if she was romantically interested in him or was it something else?

"Yes, I think it is. You did something very nice for me and I very much appreciate it. Why do you ask?"

"Because I do not wish to date anyone else but in order to bring the world together, I will have to be very close with a lot of people and I can’t do that without you, Fleur and probably people I haven’t met. So please help me."

’I really don’t want to have to make a decision so fast but my father is just going to send more suitors and my gut is telling me to just go with it. He’s a god... I’m a princess... she’s a queen... we’re both just people. Ugh.’

"I will help you, Zander. I already promised you that."

"That is not what I am asking. Didn’t you say two people date when they felt romantically interested in someone? I am asking if you want to date me."

She stood stunned and pale in the face.

’There are too many emotions to keep track of. I think I screwed this—’

She kissed him and smiled. "Yes, I will go on dates with you. I will also help and talk to Fleur."

"Ok good, let’s go."

"Wait what!" She exclaimed.

Zander teleported Nyx to the fairy realm and everyone immediately started whispering in the trees.

"Hello Fleur, this is Alistair’s daughter, Nyxara Nightwing. Like you, she is helping me adjust to life here. I would like you two to sit down and talk. I think you two will be able to figure something out to help the demons. I will return later."

"Hello Zander it is good to see you and thank you for introducing me to your friend. Just so you know, there is a war going on between the elves and vampires now in the south."

"What! Didn’t the elves just fight with you? Why do they fight so much?"

"They’re aggressive and angry. The humans are likely to third party them this time."

Zander kissed Nyx, who kissed him and smiled.

"I will always keep you safe. I am sorry for leaving but this is the best way," he whispered before he disappeared.

’The guy I agreed to go on dates with ditched me in enemy territory but for some reason I’m not afraid or mad. This is all so weird.’

"Well, it seems someone won the gods heart quickly," Fleur said politely and kindly.

"I’m so sorry if you were interested in him... You can date him too! It just kind of happened, I can’t even begin to explain."

"It’s ok young one, I don’t think a god would date more than one person. He wants us to unite us, not drive us apart. So, how can we stop our races from fighting?"

"You aren’t going to execute me or hold me prisoner!" Nyx cheerfully cried out.

"Let me guess, he told you that you have an amazing soul? He kept going on about souls. He wants to unite us, not divide us. Why would I do such a thing?"

’He’s right. She is a wonderful person. No wonder he felt confident leaving me here.’

"I’m sorry for the accusation. He speaks very highly of you and said he only asked to date me because he didn’t want to cause conflict. He said you were an amazing soul who could help unite us. I just don’t know how we do it."

"Well, you are the daughter of the king are you not? I’m sure we can work something out." She smiled.

’Oh well. I shouldn’t be falling for a god or any man right now anyway. This poor girl is probably the only one who can understand what it feels like to have to hide in isolation because of what happens when people like us are noticed in public.’

"I am and he will listen to what I have to say so I am all ears. Let’s work together!" Nyxara said excitedly to Fleur.

Zander landed in the middle of a battle between vampires and elves.

’More bloodshed. This is sad.’

He sat and observed as the two races continued to kill and slaughter each other. He also started to pick up other souls approaching from the far east.

’Humans!’ He raged.

As the battle continued, a massive human army was headed directly toward the elves and the vampires who looked like they had been locked in battle for days. The entire battlefield was red bodies, torn from limb, slaughtered from magic, some completely burnt to a crisp.

’I cannot let humans do this. This is so beyond unreasonable.’

"Humans! Look out!" An Elven commander screamed.

"Shit! Elves, it’s either you or us so we must retreat!" A vampire general shouted.

"That’s bullshit! We are already in another battle with the humans. Let us retreat and regroup."

"ENOUGH!" Zander screamed.

His voice was so loud it shook the Earth. He was floating in the sky with his wings and his golden eyes were fully illuminating, pulsating like a heartbeat. He had his full armor set on with his massive sword in both hands.

"Humans! How dare you continue this dirty tactic after I already made it clear to your leadership that it is unacceptable!" His voice bellowed, and all three races could understand him clearly.

The human generals started laughing.

"It’s just a smart war strategy," one general screamed back.

"One god. 10,000 humans. What could you possibly d—" his head was cleanly cut off by Zander’s flying blade.

Zander raised both his hands and started obliterating human after human with various magical spells, and when they started to run he screamed, "Athena’s Wrath!"

A small orb formed in his hand and he began manipulating it. Meteors fell from the sky and he directed them using the ball of magic between his hands.

"By the gods...RUN!" The elven general screamed.

"GET OUT OF HERE!" The vampire general screamed.

"HALT!" Zander screamed, and both of their armies were encased with large magical bubbles.

"We’re trapped! We can’t get out!"

"This is bad! We’re all done, starting to for pray to the gods!"

"Spare us Zander!"

The humans were quickly finished and Zander used his wings to hover over both the armies.

"And give me one reason why I shouldn’t execute both of your armies right now?" He screamed in a rage.

"Zander. Calm down. Unite them. You are supposed to unite them then destroy them if they cannot be united."

"But they were just killing each other. Why should they be spared? They’re not any better than the humans."

"Because maybe you can bring two groups together. Encourage the elves and vampires to become allies or you will destroy both of their armies instantly. Demand a meeting with Theron and Verde. What would Nyx or Fleur say if they saw you right now."

Zander frowned and a single golden tear fell from his eyes.

"What have I done Zephyra? I just left her in enemy territory because I assumed Fleur would keep her safe but what if I was wrong?"

"You were right about that, you were wrong here. Trust me just do what I suggested. It should work. They are literally trembling and bowing in prayer right now, look."

Zander’s eyes stopped illuminating and he looked at all the injured warriors from both sides. They stopped fighting. They were at his mercy.

He cast healing magic to the injured from both races and streams of golden auras flew effortlessly out of his hands.

’Unite the people you love so dearly my son. It is the only way to save the planet from the Val’Kreen army. My mother always told me. I must do this. Thank you Zephyr.’ He thought while he continued making sure everyone was ok.

"Woah, captain! I feel brand new." An elf yelled.

"General! We are fully healed and ready for battle!" A vampire captain yelled.

"Are you that daft? He just told us to stop fighting, healed us AFTER killing off an entire human army like it was nothing. Shut up and fall back," The general replied, causing Zander to smile.

"Leaders from both races please step forward and state your names!" Zander screamed formally, still with a hint of anger.

An elf and a vampire slowly stood up and cowered over to the center of the battlefield.

"I am Commander Dreadspire of the 2nd Vampire army."

"I am General LaFelle of the great elven army."

"If you wish for your races to both walk away I have one simple condition. You stop fighting each other today and set a formal meeting up for tomorrow at 7 PM at the Royal 5 headquarters with Theron and Verde. Fleur and Alistair will be there and whomever the new human chosen to replace the evil one will be present. This is not a request. It is an order."

They didn’t hesitate. They both agreed and Zander noticed several Cyan souls mixed in the lot of both. The generals were both good souls as well.

"Understood, thank you Lord Zander," Commander Dreadspire said with a bow before leading his army away.

"Thank you, I will speak with Theron personally. The elves are grateful for sparing and healing us," General said before mounting his horse and leading his army back toward elven lands.

’Such a waste of good people!’ Zander thought, no longer angry, just sad.

’Why can’t they stop fighting? I do not understand!’
