Chapter 841 Join the Human Race Faction? Chu Sheng Prefers Going Solo!

Huo Lang never expected this. He had rushed over in a panic to warn Chu Sheng to flee, but his actions had backfired completely. Originally, they hadn’t intended to pay any attention to the City Lord’s Mansion’s summons at all. They might have just turned around and found a quiet spot to tally their loot. Yet, after his earnest persuasion, they had actually decided to go.

Come to think of it, it made sense. Whether it was the Law Enforcement Team or the Eight Great Clans, anyone who dared to cause trouble for Gu Yuexi and Chu Sheng would either end up dead or lose a layer of skin. They had dared to kill the Jiang Family Grand Elder and flatten the Law Enforcement Team Captain against a wall. Why would they care about a piece of paper from the City Lord’s Mansion?! If they straight-up ignored the summons, there was absolutely nothing the City Lord’s Mansion could do about it!

Huo Lang stood rooted to the spot, his mouth hanging open for a long time. He was completely dumbfounded, unsure whether to laugh or cry. Just as he was at a total loss, Chu Sheng looked at him again and asked a second question.

"Where exactly is the Sea Monster Battlefield? Send me the coordinates."

Huo Lang’s brain hadn’t quite caught up yet, and he subconsciously blurted out the exact location of the southern defense line. He even explained the specific situation on the southern front.

Chu Sheng said "Thank you." Then, with a flap of his wings, he flew into Gu Yuexi’s inner robe pocket with a SWOOSH.

Finally, under Huo Lang’s bewildered gaze, Gu Yuexi gently flicked her sleeve. The space around her distorted slightly, and in the next second, she vanished from sight.

Only Huo Lang remained, standing blankly on the spot, staring in the direction the person and mosquito had left. He stood there shell-shocked, a solitary figure blowing in the wind. It wasn’t until Daya skipped over, tugged on his arm, and asked in confusion.

"Brother Lang, didn’t you come here to convince Fairy Gu and Lord Mosquito not to go to the Sea Monster Battlefield? Why is it that after all your persuading, they’re heading in that exact direction? Besides, why aren’t they traveling with the main army?"

Prompted by Daya’s words, Huo Lang suddenly snapped back to reality and slapped his thigh. "Right! How could I forget about that!

"If Fairy Gu and Lord Mosquito blended in with the main army, they might have had a sliver of hope. As long as the Eight Great Clans didn’t spot them, they wouldn’t be heavily targeted. But charging single-handedly into the Sea Monster Battlefield—how is that any different from seeking death?!"

Pacing around anxiously, Huo Lang raised his foot to chase after them, wanting to warn Gu Yuexi and Chu Sheng. However, Daya suddenly grabbed his arm and yanked him back.

"Brother Lang, where are you going? Did you forget that Lord Mosquito just gave us a mission?"

Huo Lang froze, his mind struggling to process. "What mission?"

"The support group! The Lord Mosquito Fan Club!" Daya tapped Huo Lang on the forehead with a look of exasperation. "How could you forget such an important task? Were you scared stupid?"

"But..." Huo Lang looked toward the direction where Gu Yuexi and Chu Sheng had disappeared, still looking worried. "What about Fairy Gu and Lord Mosquito? They’re unfamiliar with the area, and the battlefield is so chaotic."

"Ugh, you’re so dense!" Daya rolled her eyes at him dramatically and planted her hands on her hips. "Didn’t you just say earlier that if Fairy Gu and Lord Mosquito joined the City Guard Army’s camp, the officers from the Eight Great Clans would definitely make things difficult for them?

"The Eight Great Clans would certainly make them suffer, assign them the most dangerous missions, or even stab them in the back. But now that Fairy Gu and Lord Mosquito are charging into the battlefield on their own without joining the City Guard Army’s ranks, those officers won’t have any way to scheme against them, right?

"They can fight when they want and leave when they want. How freeing is that? It’s much better than being plotted against!"

After listening to Daya’s analysis, Huo Lang furrowed his brows in deep thought. The more he thought about it, the more it made sense. True, with Lord Mosquito’s temper, how could he ever tolerate others bossing him around? Acting alone was actually safer; at the very least, they wouldn’t have to worry about being stabbed in the back by their own side.

"You’re right! I was overthinking things." Huo Lang’s brow relaxed, and he clapped his hands together. "Let’s go! Let’s get Lord Mosquito’s support group up and running! We’ll build up momentum first! That way, whenever Lord Mosquito needs us, we can provide backup at a moment’s notice. We absolutely cannot let down his expectations of us!"

"Mhm!" Daya nodded vigorously, her eyes instantly lighting up. "Don’t worry, Brother Lang. We will definitely complete the task Lord Mosquito gave us flawlessly!"

With that said, the two turned and disappeared into the crowd, busy setting up the fan club.

Meanwhile, Gu Yuexi used Instant Teleportation continuously along the coordinates Huo Lang had provided. In the blink of an eye, she was already approaching the third defense line against the sea demons.

There were a total of five defense lines on Luoping City’s southern front against the sea demons, stretching all the way from the coastline to the city itself. Under normal circumstances, battles between the Human Race and the sea demons only occurred at the outermost first defense line. One-third of the City Guard Army’s forces were stationed there to regularly clear out small-scale sea demon harassments.

However, once the sea demons amassed a large army, the City Guard Army’s numbers would not be enough. They wouldn’t be able to hold out for long before the sea demons breached the first defense line.

When the sea demons entered the range of the second defense line, the Human Race would immediately sound a red alert, impose martial law across the city, and prepare for battle. Once the second defense line was also breached, the City Lord’s Mansion would immediately issue an emergency edict, conscripting all cultivators at the Divinity Transformation Realm and above to reinforce the third defense line.

But usually, by the time the City Lord’s Mansion finished assembling the reinforcement teams made up of loose cultivators, the third defense line would already be on the verge of collapse and unable to hold out much longer. Therefore, the loose cultivator teams rushing to help were often sent directly to fortify the fourth defense line.

The fourth defense line was the crucial battlefront that decided life and death, victory or defeat. It was also the most brutal meat grinder. This was because the fifth defense line behind it was Luoping City itself. Once the sea demons reached the walls of Luoping City, those cultivators below the Divinity Transformation Realm could only cower inside the city without even a chance to escape. Though they possessed some cultivation, in the face of a true battlefield, they were no different from ordinary humans on Blue Star. To put it bluntly, they didn’t even have the qualifications to serve as cannon fodder. Apart from silently praying that the city wouldn’t fall, there was absolutely nothing they could do.

If the situation truly escalated to the point where four consecutive defense lines were breached, the City Guard Army would have been essentially wiped out. The loose cultivators at the Divinity Transformation Realm and above would have suffered immense casualties at the third and fourth lines, leaving very few survivors. Within Luoping City, only the Eight Great Clans would be left with some hidden trump cards and the strength to fight.

But whether the Eight Great Clans were willing to live and die with Luoping City... that was hard to say. Cases of everyone fleeing for their own lives in the face of disaster were not unheard of in history. It was no exaggeration to say that in Luoping City, the Eight Great Clans were the strongest, but they were also the most unreliable!

Before long, the person and the mosquito were nearing the third defense line. Sensing the aura of the Sea Race, Chu Sheng flew out of the pocket and perched on Gu Yuexi’s shoulder. He briefly explained everything he knew about the sea demons to her.

Gu Yuexi listened and nodded calmly. "Those not of our race are bound to harbor different motives."

Chu Sheng rolled his compound eyes. Just as he was about to retort with "That’s racism," Gu Yuexi spoke again, adding another sentence before he could get the words out.

"Except for you, this mosquito."

"Fine!

"I’ll give you that one!"

Since Gu Yuexi had put it that way, Chu Sheng couldn’t exactly complain.
