Reincarnated As The Heroes Guide
Chapter 327: Her Secret Weapon
Since she was getting good stuff from boxes today, Kalli was in an excellent mood.
Of course, the dress wasn’t actually suited to her as equipment. She had precisely zero healing skills, and that’s what it buffed. But that was fine, she could buy more dresses later, and change up her fashion.
Though, she was rather fond of the form fitting composite battle suits. Wearing them all the time was a bit like wearing a hug that was always the perfect temperature.
Plus, the armour smoothed out all the bits that jiggled in spots that weren’t supposed to jiggle.
Any girl’s favourite secret weapon.
There was a very good reason that they had become the universal standard for outdoors wear in the city of Marimgar, and it wasn’t because there was something wrong with every other sort of armour.
Then, she realized that she didn’t have to match the ones who went to fight. Her work was entirely in the Hall of Heroes, so she really could dress up however she wanted.
Though the craftsmen all wore the armoured bodysuits for practical reasons, the kitchen staff all wore chefs coats, and the lower city had its own fashion sense. So, she could start her own trend, and if she wanted to wear even the strangest possible outfits, there was nobody to stop her.
Across the room, Kalli noticed Amber, the only Saint Class healer in the city, sitting and staring out the window.
"Hey Amber, try this on. I got a drop that’s for healers, and I think it’d look good on you."
Kalli handed her the dress, and the healer smiled. "Oh, this will be perfect for the sunny days."
She quickly equipped the dress, switching outfits, then did a little spin that made Sanchez cough as he choked on his coffee.
"Miss Amber, you might perhaps want to consider that the dress is not particularly long before spinning like that."
The healer laughed. "It’s fine, I’m wearing flesh tone tights."
Sanchez sighed in relief. "You nearly gave me a heart attack."
That made Kalli giggle. Sanchez was sitting a few tables over from Amber, but the healer was tall for a woman of Marimgar, so he was close to waist level to start with. However, the healer was lying to him. She was not, in fact, wearing tights.
But if nobody said anything else, then she didn’t have to be embarrassed by her slip up. At least, not any more embarrassed than she already was.
However, she said it with enough conviction that Sanchez didn’t question things.
Instead of saying anything, Kalli went to the store to purchase a similar one for herself, only to find that you could pick the style of dress, but unlike the bodysuits, there was no submenu for colours and patterns.
Reluctantly, she purchased the dress, and received a small box.
"Oh, so that’s how it works. You pick the colour and pattern when you open it. I was concerned there for a moment, thinking that I was going to get random fashions in a chosen style."
Sanchez laughed. "You need to tell Esmeralda. She’s been complaining that there isn’t enough, and I quote, ’witchy and goth fashion’ in the System selections. Which seems odd given that I haven’t seen her wear anything but the composite battle armour in ages."
"Perhaps it’s just a matter of not having the right clothes available. I’ll let her know the next time that I see her. You can pick new fashion if you want as well."
Sanchez shrugged "I’ve been wearing a uniform my entire adult life, I barely even owned civilian clothing anymore even before I came here. I’m fine with the battle armour, and the lounge pants I got from the tailors."
Amber nodded. "They’re quite popular. They make a soft fabric from the tuber plants as well as the durable ones, and they make great nightwear. I’ve got a nightgown they made, and it’s super comfy."
Sanchez smiled at Kalli. "I’m surprised that you didn’t know already."
Kalli shrugged. "I’m not a nightwear sort of person. I am naturally a hot sleeper, I don’t even like extra blankets in the summer."
From the other side of the room, one of the female mages laughed. "That’s the way to do it. Clothing is overrated."
Sanchez covered his ears dramatically. "My virgin thoughts, surrounded by all these degenerates."
Kalli winked at him. "Does that mean you don’t want us to model the new lingerie options for you?"
"Hey now, I didn’t say that."
The mage laughed, but made a grabby gesture at Kalli.
"Now that you mentioned it, I want some of that action. A couple more cute outfits for when I’m off duty are well worth the points. I know that being a clothing store isn’t really the purpose of the shop, but if I remember my history right, frontier general stores used to sell everything from provisions to tools to clothing and hats.
That’s sort of what we’ve got here, right?
An old school general store, but with magic and technology that’s far beyond what we were used to?"
Kalli nodded. "I can’t say that you’re wrong, I am basically the general store operator."
Then, she changed into the new sun dress that she purchased, light blue with a pattern around the sleeves that Kalli immediately identified as the same filigree that was on the Marimgar Academy uniforms.
"You know, these are nice. Look, it’s only Uncommon Grade, but it gives three mana regeneration every five seconds and some agility. I’m not sure that it will win out over the battle armour, but it’s definitely comfortable."
From the door Reggie made an appreciative noise.
"The battle armour definitely wins," he announced. "The dresses are cute, but the way the armour hugs to the curves..."
Kalli winked at him, "I will tell Burt that you appreciate his figure."
"Dammit, why does everyone pick on me?"
Sanchez patted him on the shoulder. "Because it’s entirely too easy. Besides, you’re never going to have any luck with the ladies, you’re already spoken for, and she likes to bully you even more than the Coordinator does."
Reggie frowned. "Dammit, I knew it. That woman is determined to torture me."
The ladies said nothing. They knew that he actually liked it.
