Reincarnated With A System Of Different Genre

Chapter 143: World System Functionality, Love Demon

  • Next Chapter

Ethan Morvendrell was currently gathering his companions.

The warm summer sun illuminated the academy grounds, and although today was officially a holiday, none of the people gathered here had come to relax.

"Why do we have to do this on our holiday?!" Erica complained while lazily resting a long staff on her shoulder.

"You know, you should actually learn know how to enjoy your free time."

"Junior, I honestly didn’t expect you to invite me along, I’m actually a little happy..." Soleil said with a bright smile, her golden hair glistening beneath the sunlight.

"And why exactly did you drag me here?" another blond-haired student asked with an expression full of resignation.

His name was Leopold Voss.

For the sake of clarification, despite both having blond hair, he and Soleil weren’t related in any way.

"You all..." Ethan sighed before looking at each of them.

"I’ve already explained this several times. I need the body of a Hollow Lich for one of my experiments, and today we’re going to capture one."

His eyes gleamed with confidence.

"And not just any Hollow Lich either, we’re going after the strongest one."

The moment he finished speaking, Soleil naturally slipped beside him and wrapped both of her arms around one of Ethan’s without the slightest hesitation.

Seeing such shameless behavior in broad daylight, Erica’s expression darkened almost immediately.

She and Ethan knew each other since the Intermediate Division and had also entered the Senior Division together.

She certainly didn’t have any romantic feelings toward him.

At least, that was what she believed.

Besides, Ethan wasn’t even her type. He was also a few months younger than her.

Even so, seeing Soleil, a girl in her final year of the Senior Division, cling so openly to Ethan somehow irritated her.

To make matters worse, Soleil even glanced at her with a cheeky smile.

It almost looked as though she was deliberately declaring her dominance.

"You two, stop being so shameless!" Erica finally yelled.

Ethan coughed awkwardly before gently separating Soleil’s hands from his arm.

After all, he wasn’t an ordinary person.

Everything he did... was for world peace.

Although he couldn’t deny that having a beautiful girl cling to his arm wasn’t exactly an unpleasant experience.

Still, he knew where his priorities lay.

World peace came before everything else.

Especially because, Soleil wasn’t an ordinary girl.

’View Status Screen.’

Ethan silently activated one of the abilities granted to him by the mysterious existence known as Aion.

Although he disliked that self-proclaimed bastard who had suddenly entrusted him with the responsibility of saving the world, he couldn’t deny that the abilities accompanying the mission were incredibly useful.

This world already possessed something similar to a World System, but ordinary people could only see simple information of their own such as names, age, and other basic details.

Because of that, most people barely paid attention to it.

Ethan’s version, however, was completely different.

It allowed him to see fragments of information that should have remained hidden.

————————

Ethan narrowed his eyes slightly.

Even now, the system refused to display Soleil’s true name.

That meant the name "Soleil" was merely an alias and it wasn’t recognized as her real identity.

The countless question marks carried another meaning that meant she was far stronger than him.

At the very least, an entire realm above his current level.

Ethan himself had already reached the peak of the Adept Realm and stood only a single step away from becoming an Expert.

Unlike most people, he cultivated both the warrior’s and the mage’s paths simultaneously.

Even then, the system still couldn’t properly evaluate Soleil’s strength. That alone made her terrifying.

Meanwhile, Soleil quietly glanced toward Erica once again as a faint smile appeared on her lips.

No matter how much Erica denied it... Her emotions were as clear as daylight to Soleil.

It wasn’t that Soleil wanted to steal Ethan away, nor was she intentionally trying to create conflict between them.

The truth was much simpler.

The young human girl named Erica simply hadn’t realized her own feelings yet. She was still inexperienced.

Given enough time, however, Soleil was almost certain the two of them would eventually end up fighting over the same person.

Ironically...

The person standing at the center of this invisible battlefield remained completely oblivious.

Such was the destiny of a world’s protagonist.

"We’ve arrived," Leopold said after they finally reached the familiar entrance of the Goblin and Undead Dungeon.

"Should we discuss the strategy one last time?"

"No." Ethan shook his head.

"We’ll stick to the original plan but first let’s report our entry to the instructor."

The group continued walking toward the entrance.

However, Ethan had another objective besides obtaining the body of a Hollow Lich.

His gaze unconsciously drifted toward Soleil again.

Although the World System only revealed fragmented information, combined with the memories of the future that occasionally surfaced within his mind, Ethan already knew a great deal about her true identity.

A familiar blue screen quietly appeared before his eyes.

————————————

Ethan looked at the quest window in silence.

When they had first met, he had accidentally rescued Soleil.

That single event had somehow triggered an entire chain of quests connected to her.

Although the time they had spent together wasn’t particularly long, Ethan had already reached one conclusion.

Soleil wasn’t an evil person.

At least... not yet.

And if there was even a chance to save her future, he intended to take it.

There were no personal feelings involved, even if the other party happened to be a demon! Or maybe they were...

As today was a holiday, only a single instructor remained inside the Observation Room to monitor the dungeon and the monsters within it.

Unfortunately for him, he had no idea that today would become one of the most troublesome days of his career.
