Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer
Chapter 1597: Esports Tournament Part 24
Half an hour later...
Maxwell’s face was drained of color when more gigantic monsters spawned in the training ground.
"What did I do to deserve this?" He quietly muttered, feeling extremely exhausted from cleaning the monsters.
A training ground that usually spawns a monster every 15 minutes or so ends up spawning multiple monsters every 1 minute.
It took at least 2-3 minutes to kill them each time. But now they were forced to spend half an hour fighting nonstop just to avoid being overrun by monsters.
Who still had energy to keep training when they expended most of their stamina and items to eliminate monsters?
More importantly, these monsters didn’t even grant them a single experience point, much less any drop loot.
This was considered the biggest taboo for a slacker like him.
Do all the work for absolutely nothing in return!
How infuriating was that!
Alas, Maxwell’s day couldn’t get any worse when he received a severe scolding from the higher-ups.
At the same time, he was ordered to contact the Vanguard Guild and asked what the meaning behind their actions was.
Almost every guild had made an unspoken truce to stop clashing with each other to prepare for the esports tournament. They highly doubted the Vanguard Guild was ridiculous to pick a fight out of nowhere.
Even if it was for revenge or retaliation, their first target shouldn’t even be them.
"The leader of this operation is the Vanguard Honorary Elder, Cool Wind. Hopefully he’s more amiable to converse with." Based on his understanding of Cool Wind from the past action, Maxwell prayed they were reasonable.
Soon, Maxwell found the contact information and sent a direct message to them.
[Maxwell: Evening, Vanguard Honorary Elder Cool Wind. I am Maxwell, an Ethereal Guild Captain of the training ground that you have disrupted today. May I ask what we have done to receive such actions?]
A few minutes went by, and there was still no response.
’Ugh, this is making me so anxious.’ Maxwell felt the urge to use the toilet. Anxiety and uncertainty would cause his stomach to feel like an urgent need to sit on the toilet.
The life of a slacker wasn’t easy.
Luckily, his stomach was spared when there was finally a response.
[Cool Wind: You should ask your lovely Team Leader Brim.]
’Team Leader Brim??!’ Maxwell’s eyes flared up. No wonder that bastard hadn’t shown up lately.
"A useless person like him who can’t do anything good except cause chaos. Besides having connections, he’s nothing." Maxwell admitted to being a huge slacker, but that didn’t mean he failed to do his job.
In fact, it was because he did his duty well that the higher-ups could barely criticize his slacking trait.
Without hesitation, Maxwell reported the situation to a higher-up who was specifically against Brim and the connection behind him. This was the only surefire way that the message got relayed properly.
...
Elsewhere, Xu Feng led the team to another location.
"Hmm, the scale is smaller." Lightning Blade knitted his brows.
"Of course, it’s smaller." Xu Feng mused. "This isn’t a training ground for the Super Guild, but some regular players who think they could do whatever they want online."
He didn’t plan on provoking Ethereal more than necessary.
The operation they did was good enough, granted that they really punished Brim and ensured they gave out proper compensation.
He reckoned the Maxwell person was smart enough to understand the situation.
Hence, he moved on to begin targeting the others who chimed in to defame Gentle Wind.
There were consequences to one’s actions.
Just because they hid behind the screen didn’t mean they could escape unscathed.
"No need to hold back on this one. Just go all ham and kill whoever is here." He gestured with his finger and told them to go in.
"Hehe, no need to hold back?"
"Say no more!"
"Highest kill count, get a free boba!"
In the blink of an eye, every person charged straight in and began a massive killing spree.
"What the—"
"Wait, why are you targeting us?"
"Who are you guys?"
"That banner... the Vanguard Guild? But why??!"
Amidst the slaughter, some of the players recognized the banner they were holding. They became even more doubtful and skeptical.
Banners couldn’t be replicated by others to prevent impostors.
As for maliciously trying to impersonate and create a banner of a similar kind, one simple report would get them severely punished.
They were clueless as to how they became a target of the Vanguard Guild.
"Next time, watch what you type online. Smear one of us, and you’ll get the blade." Lightning Blade snorted coldly and unleashed a slashing combo 32 times.
Soon, news of Vanguard Guild going after everyone who had participated in the slander against Gentle Wind spread like wildfire.
It wasn’t even a secret when OneManMedia streamed the entire thing and warned those who participated to make a public apology post.
There was a list that they knew about, so those who did it and refuse to post an apology better pray they weren’t part of the list.
"My viewers, if you smear someone, don’t say I didn’t warn you. Our Vanguard Guild is never one to be afraid of trouble." OneManMedia calmly said.
"Pan the camera to me." Xu Feng suddenly said.
"Eh?" OneManMedia was at first taken aback. But the next moment, his eyes lit up, and he realized this was a rare moment.
As the camera panned toward him, the viewers were excited to see him so close up.
In the meantime, Xu Feng kept a calm composure.
"Guild conflict is always present during MMOs, and Vanguard wouldn’t hold it against you for such conflicts. But personal attacks and slander would not be permitted." He said sternly.
"I don’t know who you may be, but just note that I won’t let this slander slide. This kind of thing is harmful and can push a person to think terribly. Our operation will cease once we receive formal apologies and proper compensation."
