Chapter 1637: You Call This Safe?

  • Next Chapter

Inside the trash can, Shinji Matou’s face was full of fear, clearly planning to sell out his teammates to survive.

“Where is Kirei Kotomine?”

Su Xiao flicked his finger, and the Boundary Line shot out from his sleeve, wrapping around Shinji Matou’s neck.

“This…”

Shinji Matou was at a loss for words; he didn’t know the whereabouts of Kirei Kotomine. The last time they met, it was through multiple channels and a good deal of luck.

“Since you don’t know, you’re useless.”

“No, give me some time…”

Szzz~

The Boundary Line tightened, deeply cutting into Shinji Matou’s neck. After slicing through his flesh, the cold wire withdrew, leaving a thin trail of blood in the air.

Shinji Matou’s eyes widened, his hands grasped his throat, gushing fresh blood, and he made a choking sound as his body gradually slumped inside the trash can.

With a thump, Su Xiao closed the lid of the trash can and stepped out of the alley. Behind him, Rin Tohsaka froze momentarily before she hesitantly followed.

“Sorry.”

Rin Tohsaka murmured lowly as she walked out of the alley, her spirit rattled by witnessing a familiar death before her eyes. But the other party was an enemy Master; such is the Holy Grail War.

Outside the alley, Su Xiao closed his eyes, sensing something. The Eye of the Apostle hovering high above had switched to alert mode. The reason why Su Xiao hadn’t shown himself earlier when A Mu fought Cu Chulainn was mainly because he was searching for Kirei Kotomine. With Kotomine’s cautious personality, he was very likely hiding nearby.

Unfortunately, Su Xiao still couldn’t locate Kirei Kotomine. As for tracking the golden flash, while it was indeed a good method, given the golden flash’s abilities, the chance of success without Bubu Wang tracking him was very low. But Bubu Wang was currently focused on Stan and the others.

Ultimately, Su Xiao had to deal with the Blood Gate Adventure Group first to participate comfortably in the Holy Grail War.

With that in mind, Su Xiao recalled the Eye of the Apostle and headed toward the outskirts of Fuyuki City with Rin Tohsaka. His gains from this battle were significant; A Mu had killed Cu Chulainn, so he now had time to check Reincarnation Paradise’s notifications.

[Your Servant has killed Cu Chulainn (Lancer)]

[Cu Chulainn, one of the seven Heroic Spirits participating in this Holy Grail War, yielded 7.3% World Source upon defeat. You currently have a total of 7.3% World Source.]

[You received the Gold-set Treasure Chest (this treasure chest has a high chance of containing a Gold-set item)].

…

[You killed Shinji Matou.]

[You received 0.2% World Source, bringing your total World Source to 7.5%.]

…

Seeing the 0.2% World Source gain from killing Shinji Matou did not surprise Su Xiao. As for the Gold-set Treasure Chest dropped by Cu Chulainn, its value would be no less than a Legendary treasure box if it contained Gold-set items.

Walking along the street, Su Xiao constantly contemplated one thing: what was the main task for the Blood Gate team’s adventure group?

Based on Su Xiao’s understanding of large adventure groups, their main task is complex and likely requires teamwork. Furthermore, it very possibly relates to the Holy Grail War.

The best approach now would be for Su Xiao to sabotage the Blood Gate team’s main task; thus, he could wipe them all out.

Not to mention other aspects, simply engaging in a direct confrontation with Blood Gate isn’t worthwhile. The previous two times, Su Xiao ambushed Blood Gate members because he had no other options. Thanks to Bubu Wang’s tracking now, Su Xiao was sure of the main task’s importance to Blood Gate.

Firstly, the drop rate for Scarlet Cards in this Holy Grail World is absurdly low. Su Xiao killed nearly 60 Blood Gate members, obtaining only 3 Scarlet Cards. This could be due to two reasons: either the drop rate is genuinely low in this world, or his Luck Attributes have expired.

Thinking about the latter reason made Su Xiao’s brain ache slightly. He was reluctant to accept it. If other Contractors had his level of Luck Attributes, they would likely use them to fight, but Su Xiao felt none of that. He always felt like he merely restored his Luck Attributes to normal levels—or rather, his luck was erratic and intermittently revived the Great Chief’s Halo.

Su Xiao calmed his thoughts, no longer dwelling on Luck Attributes, instead refocusing on Blood Gate.

Clearly, directly clashing with Blood Gate isn’t worth it. Although satisfying, not even reclaiming bullet costs from enemy kills makes it extremely frustrating.

While Su Xiao pondered, he and Rin Tohsaka arrived at an uninhabited two-story villa. A preliminary inspection led Su Xiao to conclude it hadn’t been lived in for at least two months.

Su Xiao took out a uniquely shaped Key, inserted it into the lock, twisted, and the door opened easily, leaving Rin Tohsaka bewildered.

Inside the villa, lights soon illuminated the place, with Su Xiao laying back on a sofa while A Mu sat on a small stool in front of TV focused attentively.

“A Mu, you’re quite injured…”

“Moo~”

A Mu’s voice changed pitch, his head swaying like a rattle drum, meaning: “Master, A Mu is fine. No need for Healing, I’ll recover on my own.”

“Is that so? Rin, help A Mu bandage his wounds.”

“Seriously, I’m injured too, you know.”

Rin Tohsaka found a medical kit and began bandaging A Mu’s wounds meticulously. Without A Mu tonight, she might not have survived unscathed.

Su Xiao’s plan from now on was very simple: wait. He didn’t believe Stan wouldn’t complete the team’s main task; once they slip, that would be the beginning of their end.

“Rin Tohsaka, take off your clothes. You need some Ability to protect yourself.”

“What?!

Upon hearing Su Xiao’s words, Rin Tohsaka was shocked as she backed away slowly, appearing unwilling to comply even by force.

Seeing Rin Tohsaka’s reaction, Su Xiao’s expression remained unchanged. He had a promising idea that needed testing, and based on tonight’s events, giving Rin Tohsaka some self-protection Ability was prudent.

“I mean, such things can’t be forced—and this is a crime regardless of…”

Despite Rin Tohsaka’s symbolic struggle, her blouse was removed, and she lay on the sofa.

Su Xiao sat on the coffee table next to her, on which several types of alchemy materials were arranged.

In front of him lay Rin Tohsaka, mysteriously blushing while wearing only her bra.

“Is it really… alright? I won’t turn into a Monster?”

“Theoretically speaking, it should be fine.”

“Theoretically…”

With a snap, Su Xiao used a folding knife to cut the strap of Rin Tohsaka’s bra, making her feel a sense of release, heightening her nervousness as her hands shielded her chest to prevent exposure.

Su Xiao’s idea was simple—to engrave an alchemy array diagram on Rin Tohsaka’s back to primarily act as an energy storage, its nature as close to a command seal as possible.

Keep in mind, the Magic Power in this world is universal; what truly determines one’s Magic Attribute are Magic Circuits. Su Xiao had no interest in researching Magic Circuits. What he wanted was to grant Rin Tohsaka sufficient Magic Power, allowing her to, even if not enhance her Magic Strength, at least become a Cannon.

A Metal Injection Gun appeared in Su Xiao’s hand. Seeing it, the recently calm Rin Tohsaka almost sprang upright in terror.

“And what’s this for now?”

“This is a biologically-based anesthetic that reduces side effects by over 70% compared to most anesthetics, preventing shock-induced neurological damage during ‘Third Starlight Alchemy Array’ formation due to pain, providing overall safety.”

Words like Starlight, Alchemy Array, pain, shock, and neurological damage continually stimulated Rin Tohsaka’s nerves. She grabbed her clothes to flee but returned to the sofa, fast asleep and in an Abnormal peacefulness within half a minute.
