Chapter 791: Chapter 791: Found the Antidote 4

A sour feeling welled up in Quentin Holland’s heart, as if acid were slowly eating it away.

He asked, his voice full of sorrow, "Then what about you? Aren’t you going to think about yourself? Your life matters, too. You have family, especially your brother. You’re all he has in this world. If you just leave like this, have you thought about how he’ll feel?"

Annabelle Linton lowered her gaze, falling silent.

After another stretch of silence, she offered a faint smile. "Ryan is an adult now. He doesn’t need me anymore. I’ve already set up his finances and signed all the contracts. When he turns twenty, someone will be there to help him sort it all out..."

Quentin Holland was suddenly at a loss for words.

He watched her with a deep, lingering gaze.

A flicker of resolve flashed in his eyes, and he said in a heavy voice, "Don’t worry, Annabelle. I won’t let you die."

Everyone had said those words to her. Annabelle Linton had long been immune to them.

’I won’t die?’

She gave a slight, wry smile, then let it fade into a placid one. She remained silent.

...

「Lynton.」

Late at night, Leona Grant sat at his desk, signing agreements one after another.

It was the dead of night. Not all the lights in the office were on, leaving the room somewhat dim.

Standing before the desk were the Grant Group’s lawyer and Chase.

Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, the city’s neon lights still flickered.

Faint wisps of light fell upon Leona Grant, accentuating his flawless, chiseled profile.

Chase’s eyes burned as he watched Leona Grant signing the documents, his head lowered. A bitter sorrow flooded his heart, much like the ache Quentin Holland felt while looking at Annabelle Linton.

He had been with Leona Grant for several years and could hardly believe that his boss would be dead in just a few months.

He truly couldn’t believe it.

Leona Grant coughed softly into one hand as he continued to sign with the other.

As soon as he finished one document, the lawyer immediately placed another before him, his own heart aching with sorrow.

The contracts Leona Grant was currently signing were all to arrange for Annabelle Linton’s future.

He had said that he didn’t have much time left. He felt he had wronged Annabelle Linton for a lifetime, and this was all he could do for her now.

He was leaving nearly all his assets to Annabelle Linton, a fortune so vast she couldn’t spend it in several lifetimes.

The lawyer, too, had worked for Leona Grant for many years.

For the longest time, he had believed Leona Grant to be a cold-blooded, heartless man. He never imagined he could be so devoted to someone.

’Then again, are there really any truly cold-hearted people in this world?’

’They just haven’t met that one person who makes them willing to give up everything, to risk it all.’

Leona Grant signed document after document.

At this point, there was nothing else he could leave her.

’But this is for the best. At least her future will be secure. This way, I can be at ease.’

The corners of Leona Grant’s lips twitched into a bitter smile.

’Life is just that capricious. In the blink of an eye, everything can change, leaving you utterly unprepared.’

...

Quentin Holland drove to a hotel.

He got out and slammed the door, the movements fluid and sharp. An aura of cold fury radiated from him.

He took the elevator upstairs, navigated his way to a familiar room, and started kicking the door forcefully.

The moment the door opened, he threw a punch without even seeing who had answered.

Aaron Wyatt had just opened the door when a fist connected squarely with his face.

But when he got a clear look at his attacker, he said nothing at all.
