Chapter 67: Romantic Ride

The motorcycle hummed softly as it moved through the streets at a moderate pace. Ethan drove it calmly and deftly, swerving between cars and overtaking the ones he considered slowpokes.

Sitting behind him, Evelyn held the sides of his shirt, a smile on her face.

"Where are we going?" She asked, her voice barely audible.

Ethan turned his head slightly and replied, "We’re heading to the coast to have fun."

Evelyn blinked behind the helmet. "Wait. You want to do that?!"

Ethan laughed, his voice muffled by the wind. "Sit tight, we’ll be out of traffic soon."

Evelyn trembled slightly, her eyes lighting up in excitement. She had always wanted to go on a thrilling ride, but never had the chance. Especially after giving birth to Nora, she lost her passion for it.

Now, however, Ethan had reignited that passion, and her heart was beating fast.

Just as he had said, it only took them half an hour to escape traffic and get onto the long, lonesome road by the coast. Since Arcane City was closer to the sea, they easily reached the coast.

Ethan slowed down slightly, allowing Evelyn to enjoy the view.

"Do you like it?" He asked

She turned to the endless expanse of water stretching before them and nodded. "I do. I’ll have to update my bucket list today."

Smiling, Ethan slowly increased their speed. "Well, hold on tight...!"

Evelyn’s eyes widened, and she quickly wrapped her hands around him.

The bike jerked and shot into the distance at high speed, driving down the long winding road that led to the bottom of the cliff.

Unable to restrain herself, Evelyn opened her mouth and screamed, feeling adrenaline rush through her body.

The strong wind brushing against her body made her shiver, and she clung to Ethan tighter. The young man grinned, then winced when he felt her grip tightening on him.

’Holy... she’s going to crush my ribs at this rate.’

He still laughed, though, enjoying the thrill with her. As they came down the road, he gradually slowed their speed until they got to the bottom of the cliff.

There, they had to park their bike and get off. Evelyn got down first, followed by Ethan.

Her legs trembled slightly, but Ethan held her hands and helped her steady herself.

"Rate that?" He asked with a smirk tugging at his lips.

Evelyn shook her head, her black eyes still shining. "I’ll give you a four out of five. You did well."

Chuckling, he held her hand as they walked closer to the shore. There were other people around too, mostly couples and a few heartbroken individuals who came to sightsee and drink away their sorrows.

Ethan and Evelyn stood together, staring at the sea with smiles on their faces.

Leaning her head against his shoulder, Evelyn said, "This reminds me of when we first met."

"Oh?" Ethan blinked. "At the convenience store?"

She shook her head. "No, not that. It was in a cinema."

"Huh?" The young man blinked in surprise and confusion. "I thought we met at the convenience store I was working at back then."

Holding his hand tighter, Evelyn explained. "Well, that was your first time noticing me. But I already saw you at the cinema a week before."

Scratching his head, Ethan tried to remember. "I think I remember going to watch a new movie, but I don’t remember meeting anyone. Did we talk that day?"

"No." Evelyn shook her head. "We didn’t talk. In fact, you didn’t talk with anyone. And I... got a little interested in you."

Smiling, Ethan glanced at the nostalgic expression on her face. "So you traced me to the convenience store?"

Evelyn blushed slightly. "Well... I guess I did that. And I frequented the place until I met you on the shift."

Shaking his head, Ethan chuckled. "And here I thought I was bold by asking for your number."

Evelyn’s smile brightened. "Right? You could imagine how surprised I was when you did. That’s why I acted awkwardly and agreed so clumsily."

"Ah, clumsy you." Ethan teased. "At first, I thought I shouldn’t call you. After all, you seemed hesitant about it. But I still called anyway. And I don’t regret calling."

These were his genuine feelings after reliving those memories—the same feelings the original Ethan had.

Raising her head to look at him, Evelyn smiled. "And I don’t regret choosing to give you my number too."

Ethan glanced around and noticed no one was looking. Then, he leaned down and stole a kiss from her.

Evelyn blinked in surprise, then slowly raised a finger to her lips. She smiled faintly, leaning against Ethan more.

The two of them stood in silence, simply staring at the sea while enjoying the cool breeze. Thankfully, the weather wasn’t sunny, so they weren’t being affected by the heat.

Instead, everything felt serene and peaceful. After a while, Evelyn moved away from him and said, "Hm, let’s go back already. I don’t want to keep Nora and Cassandra waiting for too long."

Ethan nodded and turned around, still holding her hand. "Alright, let’s go."

As they returned to the motorcycle, someone who had been drinking all by himself turned to look at them.

Seeing Evelyn and Ethan, his eyes widened.

’They’re here! Did they follow me?’ Chris gritted his teeth and turned away.

He uncorked the bottle and drank its contents in huge gulps.

’Did they come to gloat, or is it just a coincidence?’ He burped, eyes reddened with tears that were held back. ’Whatever, it’s not like I care. Women are only good at breaking your heart.’

Meanwhile, Ethan and Evelyn got back on the bike and sped off, not knowing they had caused quite the mental damage to some young man a few minutes ago.

Even though Evelyn was hurrying, they didn’t head back immediately. Instead, they spent the afternoon on a quiet coastal drive, enjoying the sea breeze and each other’s company.

A while later, Ethan decided it was enough and drove them back to the district. They didn’t head to the shop immediately. Instead, they stopped at a convenience store to buy bread and some other food ingredients for themselves and Cassandra.

After confirming their purchase, Ethan placed the plastic bag on his lap and started the engine.
