Chapter 1158: Chapter 1130: So You Bullied the Newcomers (Bonus for 200+ Monthly Tickets)

"I’m not envious! I’m just heartbroken! Ever since she was little, my daughter has always been top of her class, the best at everything. How come after getting married and trying to have a child she just can’t seem to conceive? Neither of you two are willing to get checked, and I’m worried your in-laws might have opinions—Qian, should I just buy you a car instead?"

Qian thought her mom’s medication mustn’t be interrupted; her words just made no sense at all.

"Why are we suddenly talking about cars? Didn’t I tell you Minglang and I both just got new ones?"

"What do you know! I’m just worried you might never get pregnant and the Yu Family will have complaints. I’m just thinking of buying something to comfort Minglang, so he won’t take it out on you."

With her mom’s level of insight, spending money from the family to comfort a son-in-law was the best "strategy" she could come up with.

But to Qian, this was outright laughable. Does Yu Minglang lack money? Is she the kind of woman who needs material things to keep a man?

"Don’t you dare stop your menopause medication, and attend more senior activities to keep busy. Stop fixating on my belly! Minglang and I haven’t been married long, having kids is not urgent. And what’s wrong with your son-in-law that makes you think he needs financial consolation?"

This was totally disrespectful to her husband!

"Do I even need to tell you? Those who’ve been through it know! Get a health check this week, see if either of you has any issues, and get it treated if needed. And keep giving your brother good meals; I don’t even know if he’s lost weight these last six months. I’ll come over in a few days."

"Just stay home with your menopause syrup, what’s the point in coming over." Qian brushed off the conversation and hung up.

Ugh, I really hate Chinese New Year.

Before getting married, everyone urged you to marry; now married, they’re urging you to have kids. Once you have kids, they’ll probably urge for a second one. These old ladies and gossipy relatives sure have a lot of time.

Yu Minglang came home, carrying a big box full of stuff, and Qian hurried over to help him.

"Where’d you get all this stuff?"

On top were several cans only available at the office, and below was a large black plastic bag. Curious, Qian reached to poke it, and Minglang quickly stopped her.

"Don’t touch!"

Too late!

Qian yelped in pain, pulling her hand back as it started bleeding. Yu Minglang quickly grabbed the box to prevent its contents from spilling out.

"What the heck is it!"

"King crabs! Mom had someone bring them from Q City, those 7-pound crabs. You’re in for a treat, my little foodie."

Mom refers to Qian’s mom; if he meant his own mom, he would’ve said the old lady in our family.

Qian grumbled, "That old lady just sniped at me on the phone, claimed she wouldn’t even let me have crab roe. But here she is, sending us crabs with a soft heart. Let’s devour these crabs tonight—you can make them the ’crab culinary way’ for me!"

Yu Minglang chuckled, "Sure, you can have them however you want. But what did mom say to get my wife so worked up, with her cheeks puffing like a puffer fish?"

Is the wife turning her anger into appetite?

"She went on and on, but it all boiled down to this: I’m a chicken that can’t lay eggs!"

"Crash!"

The whole box fell to the floor despite his efforts, the 7-pound king crab narrowly missing his foot.

"The crabs are from mom, but where did you get these cans?" Qian asked while helping Minglang pick up the items.

"Won them! Went to the office, and saw the newly hired mining department technicians bragging. I challenged them on work tasks. Some of those newbies were pretty cocky, thinking they’re invincible. They dared to provoke me, so I took the chance to teach them a lesson about the dangers of betting..."

"...So, you ended up bullying the newcomers?"

Qian was flabbergasted at him. What’s this about, even the newbies weren’t spared!

As a dignified CEO, how could he shamelessly win their provisions?

"I didn’t start it. Those little punks don’t know their place, coming in so arrogantly. If I don’t put them in check, are we just letting them grow unchecked? Besides, you wanted these cans, and they aren’t available outside—they’re prizes from your husband’s victory!"

Yu Minglang picked up a can of luncheon meat. "I’ll make hot pot for you guys tonight~"

"Woof!" Upon hearing about hot pot, Meiren perked right up.

"What about my crab feast?" Qian protested.

"Both! I’ll make everything for you!"

This finally appeased Qian.

"These newbies are quite daring, not even formally settled and already challenging you?" Qian had to admire their courage.

That’s called, youthful fearlessness against challenges!

"Not at all, they have no idea I’m the vice president. Here’s what happened..."

Yu Minglang animatedly described the scene to Qian.

He’d just returned from a meeting outside and overheard the newcomers grumbling about their provisions.

They lamented how overrated working conditions at the Yu Family were, complaining about the subpar food. These rookies didn’t realize the provisions were intended as their meals for tomorrow’s mining site inspection.

Yu Minglang stealthily eavesdropped from behind.

He then heard the newbies comment on the audacious attitude of the staff there, wondering who made them so arrogant. They bragged about their own accomplishments at their previous jobs, claiming they only transferred here for the higher pay, not because they wanted to. The Yu Family’s employees were labeled as lacking humility.

This comment seemed to trigger Yu Minglang’s teasing side. He took off his coat, approached them, and proposed a skills challenge. If they won, they wouldn’t have to work and would still get paid for a week. If he won, they’d have to give him the canned provisions for the next day’s mountain inspection.

These rookies, seeing how young he looked, never guessed that he was the legendary figure, Yu Minglang, thinking he was just some junior manager.

"So... you bullied the kids and won their provisions?"

Qian laughed despite herself. Yu Minglang was a seasoned veteran; challenging him was inherently unfair to the rookies.

"These brats causing trouble for their parents in the future! I’m doing them a favor, teaching them humility early on!"

Xiaoqiang chuckled darkly, anticipating the newbies’ reactions once they realized they were challenging the vice president. In truth, he was quite mischievous in private; how would they expect the usually stern vice president to be such a covert troublemaker?

"Seriously, I can’t believe you—by the way, did Dalong speak up when they said those things? How’s he performing at work?"
