Chapter 1282: Chapter 1254: There Is Only One Truth

Aria didn’t know as much as the senior brother. She was contacted by him for help a few months ago. Along with Old Three and Mu Hualili, they split into two groups of four and searched the world for Qio Yu Xuan. It took a lot of effort before they found the boss fighting at a hideout on the border between two countries. If they had arrived a little later, the boss would’ve been done for.

"Kids shouldn’t ask too many questions!" Qio Yu Xuan glared at Aria, who pouted, "Why does the senior brother get to know, and I don’t?"

"Have you got the same anti-hypnosis constitution as your senior brother?"

"Uh... alright, I’ll stay silent." Aria glanced at the blood-stained cotton ball in the senior brother’s hand and shook her head like a rattle drum. Forget it, she’d just play the clueless sweetheart.

"We’re about to see Qian soon. Yao, what do you think I should bring her as a gift? Do you think she’d appreciate this?" Qio Yu Xuan raised a giant diamond ring, almost blinding Aria.

"Boss, where did you get such a huge piece of glass?"

Isn’t this glass? If it’s real, how much would it be worth!

"I pried it off the guy who drove me insane. Do you think it could be fake?"

Qio Yu Xuan’s head was filled with thoughts about pleasing Qian. Oh dear lovely Qian~

Nong Yao wore a cold expression, took another cotton ball out of a glass jar, and jabbed it hard, "You’re practically asking to die! Your weak body won’t last long even if you don’t cause any trouble, yet here you are courting death, and I’m too lazy to save you. Next time, don’t count on me to help!"

"There won’t be a next time; everything’s settled. I wonder if Qian will have a boy or a girl~"

"Hmph, next time you court death, let your precious Qian carry her baby to save you!"

"Heh heh..." Thinking of Qian who he hadn’t seen for months, Qio Yu Xuan was left grinning foolishly.

Under the same blue sky, everyone harbored different feelings.

Qian anticipated Yu Minglang’s return from work to share the news that Qio Yu Xuan was returning.

Qio Yu Xuan was eager to soon meet his long-separated Qian.

While Yu Minglang was about to unveil an important piece in the mystery of Qian’s background.

Everything was about to change drastically.

Yu Minglang arrived at the last stop of that villain’s life, found the prison guard responsible at that time, and presented his credentials.

"I want to know if this person exhibited any unusual behavior at the end."

"Unusual... doesn’t seem like it... Oh, I remember, before the execution, he was chatting with his cellmate who was changing his clothes. He had a high education; people didn’t quite catch what he said."

"I need to speak with the person who conversed with him."

Yu Minglang would never let go of even the slightest chance and was determined to go all the way.

After meeting the two men, Yu Minglang asked what the person said at the end. An older inmate remarked.

"He seemed to talk about soul...something."

"Soul particles?" Yu Minglang had an epiphany, and the man nodded incessantly.

"Yes! That’s the thing, we asked what it was all about, and he said after people die, their souls come out and float around, saying things even spookier than the shamans back in our hometowns. We all thought he was mad; after all, he never said anything that made sense."

Yu Minglang’s heart sank, another piece of the puzzle in his mind became faintly visible, and he continued to ask.

"Aside from that, did he say anything else?"

"Nothing much, everyone used to beat him up because they couldn’t stand what he did. Even though we’re criminals, he even went after little girls, and we all have kids; that’s why we beat him up."

A person like him would get beaten up even in here; despite being incarcerated with the worst of the worst, there is honor among thieves. For crimes like his, you get beaten upon entering.

This was not the answer Yu Minglang wanted, so he persisted, "When you said he was bragging, did he not refute at all?"

"Refute... oh! I remember now! Once we told him he was crazy, that such things were impossible, and he said over twenty years ago there were scientists who experimented with switching the souls of two kids. Everyone laughed then, ha! If something like that succeeded, how could it not have made headlines? The world would have known!"

Yu Minglang couldn’t laugh.

He only felt as if the puzzle in his heart was finally complete.

The inmate mocked again, but Yu Minglang, already having what he needed, didn’t linger. His visit was just a small incident here, not creating even a ripple.

Just like what that villain said before dying, the fellow inmates thought it was just whimsical talk. There are plenty of people who brag before death; nobody thought it was real.

However, Yu Minglang felt as though a bucket of cold water had been poured over him. What the criminal said sounded superstitious, but that’s because he didn’t understand. If one understood the scientific principle, perhaps it wouldn’t seem so far-fetched.

Abroad, research on the contentious existence of souls continues unabated. Once, in an inadvertent conversation with Qian, Yu Minglang also unintentionally browsed some related foreign scientific literature. Current scientific levels still cannot unravel the question of whether souls exist, although abroad it’s being studied, the topic is taboo domestically for inexplicable reasons.

Present civilization has studied atoms, protons, quarks, and neutrinos, but scientists have discovered a substance even smaller than neutrinos, called superstrings, which some believe are souls.

Another theory, which Qian and Yu Minglang discussed, deals with the weight of the soul, believing the soul adheres to the body and when the body dies, this matter leaves and floats in the air, unattached, entering a so-called particle state. Regardless, everyone agrees that once the soul particles leave the body, they cannot return, making death irreversible.

Some scientists say that sometimes, when taking photos, the "ghost images" seen are manifestations of the particle state, but this view has never been conclusively proven.

The speculative content in science fiction magazines seems far removed from life, but when all evidence points to it, Yu Minglang seems to understand something.

A mysterious scientific team from twenty years ago, a psychiatrist father deeply troubled by his child’s illness, plus a group of philosophy and metaphysics experts, and possibly more unknown researchers, crafted an unknown experiment. These seemingly unrelated points converging to highlight a key person.

Chen Xiaoqian.

Yu Minglang finally understood why Qio Yu Xuan, clearly so fond of Xiaoqian, didn’t dare acknowledge her.

Even when smart Qian found clues and started to investigate, Qio Yu Xuan, unable to cover it up, preferred to erase Xiaoqian’s mother’s memory and fabricate a factually untenable story that he and Xiaoqian’s mother had an "uncontrollable" affair resulting in Xiaoqian. As for the testimonies mentioned by Chen Lin...

Yu Minglang cleverly considered, if Qio Yu Xuan could erase Xiaoqian’s mother’s memory, why couldn’t he have erased Chen Lin’s?

Inserting hypnosis and such supernatural methods could easily enable Qio Yu Xuan to alter many people’s memories. He went through great lengths, preferred Xiaoqian not forgiving him, and insisted on the truth being one thing.

Xiaoqian is Qio Yu Xuan’s child, but her body was born from Chen Lin and Xiaoqian’s mother!
