Chapter 499: Body Tempering

Qin Tuo looked at the streetwalkers teasing him, his face expressionless.

In truth, his attention was completely focused on the alley behind him.

Anyone who appeared openly at this moment would not escape his notice.

Seeing that Qin Tuo wasn’t reacting at all, confusion flickered in the streetwalkers’ eyes.

It was terrifying to imagine just how strong this person was.

The tall figure, as if knowing he had been discovered by Qin Tuo, didn’t bother to hide, simply walking over brazenly.

The tall man dropped the pretense and walked straight toward him.

They had found Qin Tuo to be a lost cause, so they turned their full attention to the tall man.

The streetwalkers surrounded the tall man, teasing him and pulling out all the stops to entice him.

This naturally gave Qin Tuo the perfect opportunity to get a good look at the man.

The tall man, annoyed by the streetwalkers, suddenly let out a sharp cry, uttering a strange syllable.

The moment the sound left his lips, the women’s faces went blank.

Then, as if they were mindless zombies, they turned and walked away.

The streetwalkers went straight into their respective rooms, turned off the lights, and lay down in silence.

It appeared as if the tall man had taken control of all their minds.

Qin Tuo’s pupils contracted sharply. He was completely shocked.

The tall man walked up to Qin Tuo, his face devoid of expression, and watched him in silence.

Qin Tuo asked coldly,

“Who are you? And how did you do that just now?”

But Qin Tuo had been watching very carefully. This man clearly hadn’t used any technique, as there wasn’t the slightest fluctuation in his aura. He had done it with complete ease.

It was as if doing so was as simple for him as breathing.

At that thought, Qin Tuo’s heart sank.

The tall man didn’t answer. After staring intently for a moment, he suddenly let out a cold sneer.

“So you’re the young master of the Huangfu Family? I didn’t expect you to be this weak. Looks like this commission will be easy money.”

Hearing his contemptuous tone, the color drained from Qin Tuo’s face.

‘Does this guy know my identity?’ he immediately realized.

Qin Tuo pressed him urgently,

“This Huangfu Family you’re talking about… what kind of family is it?”

But the tall man just slowly shook his head, his eyes cold and indifferent, not answering Qin Tuo’s question.

Qin Tuo immediately asked another question,

“Who sent you? Was it the Liu Family?”

The only possibility Qin Tuo could think of was that this man was a powerful assassin sent by the Liu Family.

He couldn’t imagine any other power having the motive to send such a formidable expert to assassinate him.

Hearing Qin Tuo’s words, however, the tall man looked genuinely curious and asked,

“Oh? The Liu Family? What Liu Family?”

It was clear he wasn’t faking it; he truly had no idea who the so-called Liu Family was.

Qin Tuo slowly explained,

“What other Liu Family could it be? The Liu Family from the Capital City, of course!”

The tall man shook his head and gave a disdainful sneer.

“I don’t know anything about some bullshit Liu Family. All I know is that you’re coming with me today!”

As his words fell, revealing his fierce determination, he unleashed an incredibly tyrannical and powerful aura.

Qin Tuo immediately sensed trouble. Just as he expected, the man attacked in the very next moment.

The tall man suddenly roared, and a powerful, sharp aura erupted from him, instantly filling the entire alley.

Qin Tuo felt as if he were being crushed by an invisible mountain. An excruciating pain shot through his bones, making them feel like they were about to break.

Under this pressure, he couldn’t move a muscle, no matter how hard he struggled.

The tall man’s eyes, however, filled with contempt. He paid it no mind.

He strode forward, leaped into the air, and brought his palm down in a heavy strike.

Qin Tuo’s expression changed. He never thought his protective glow would be so fragile against this man.

He reacted instantly, trying to fight back.

However, the tall man was faster.

He swung his other hand, striking Qin Tuo swiftly on the shoulder.

The blow sent Qin Tuo flying backward, spitting blood. He almost collapsed to the ground.

Qin Tuo struggled to his feet, feeling an agonizing pain as if all his internal organs had been violently displaced.

Wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth, Qin Tuo’s eyes, like those of a wild beast, fixed on the tall man before him, not daring to let his guard down for a second.

The tall man, however, looked surprised and muttered to himself,

“Strange. You’re even weaker than I imagined. You’re still just a mortal body? You haven’t even undergone Body Tempering?”
