Chapter 2138: Chapter 1887: Grave Tension
The stone gate opened, revealing the inside of the building shrouded in eerie darkness. It was impossible to discern what lay within.
However, at the instant the gate opened, a bone-chilling cold permeated the air, and everyone could distinctly feel it.
Song Yun, having cultivated the Eight Desolate Dominating Body, did not feel much of a change.
But even Lang Xiaoran and Nie Wushuang, at the early stages of sss-level, were shivering from the cold.
The people of Nine Stars were even worse, their lips turning purple from the freezing air.
The potency of this chilling cold was evident.
Meanwhile, Xiang Jia landed within the building, dashed out fearfully like grease on his feet, not daring to look back.
It seemed as though something inside terrified him greatly.
At that moment, within the pitch-black building, a pair of eerie eyes appeared.
The eyes glowed with a blue light, like a frozen lake, utterly motionless, exuding a chilling coldness.
"Roar!"
An enraged roar echoed, so loud that the entire space seemed to tremble, and everyone felt their eardrums were about to burst.
Moreover, that sound seemed able to penetrate through their ears and into their brains, causing excruciating headaches.
"Sonic attack!"
Song Yun raised an eyebrow, immediately controlling his True Qi to block his hearing, avoiding the attack.
Lang Xiaoran, Nie Wushuang, and the Nine Stars people didn’t know what to do, showing painful expressions, with blood even seeping from Juan Mao’s ears.
Song Yun quickly instructed everyone, "Seal your ears with True Qi."
Upon hearing this, everybody hurried to comply, and though not completely blocking out the sound, it felt much more bearable than before.
Everyone gazed at Song Yun in confusion, wondering how he knew how to deal with the sonic attack despite it being his first time here.
Accompanying the soundwave, a powerful gust blew out from the building, and the stone gate, initially open, slammed shut.
As the gate closed, the soundwave disappeared, the cold withdrew, and everything returned to calm.
At the instant the stone gate closed, Xiang Jia dashed out.
"Phew..."
He panted heavily, visibly shaken.
Looking back at the stone gate, his eyes were filled with dread, indicating that whatever lay inside was extremely frightening. He swiftly moved a few steps forward, distancing himself from the gate.
Without a word, Song Yun stepped forward and kicked Xiang Jia, sending him flying to the ground, demanding, "Speak, what’s inside?"
Xiang Jia glanced at Song Yun, shivering, his head shaking frantically, stammering, "I... I don’t know."
"Don’t know!" Song Yun’s gaze turned cold as he swiftly drew the black light sword and held it against Xiang Jia’s throat, saying gravely, "Didn’t you claim you discovered the Biyang Flower inside the building? How can you know nothing?"
Xiang Jia felt a chill on his neck as the blade cut his flesh, blood began to flow.
He had no doubt that Song Yun would kill him without hesitation if he delayed.
He hurriedly said, "There is a mutant beast inside guarding the Biyang Flower. Although it’s only at sss-level late stage, its strength is exceedingly formidable."
Song Yun pressed the blade downward and sternly said, "Are you saying that ten people, ten Mammoth Mutant Beasts, couldn’t deal with one sss-level late stage mutant beast?"
"Ah!"
Xiang Jia winced as the blade reached his bone, exclaiming in shock, gasping, "The beast inside is terrifying, not a typical mutant beast to compare with, truly, believe me, it’s definitely an sss-level late stage beast."
Could it be a mythical beast?
Song Yun glanced at the stone gate, sneering, and kicked Xiang Jia again, commanding, "Since that’s the case, then why don’t you go ahead and lead the way again."
"Ah! No!"
Xiang Jia cried in panic, unable to stop himself from crashing into the stone gate under Song Yun’s kick.
Bang.
The stone gate shook massively, opening to both sides.
Curiously, this time, nothing abnormal occurred.
No soundwave nor chilling cold appeared.
Thud.
Xiang Jia fell to the ground, his face turning white with fright, scrambling desperately to escape.
Just then, a shadow descended from above.
Bam.
As Xiang Jia stepped forward, he was firmly pinned to the ground.
The foot on his back resembled a feline paw, not large, at most like a lion’s.
Yet, the foot upon his back seemed to weigh thousands of pounds, rendering him completely immobile.
"Help me, save me!"
Xiang Jia’s face filled with terror, he shouted toward Song Yun outside the stone gate, clawing at the ground in vain effort to escape the paw’s hold.
Clang, clang, clang...
The sound of metal clashing echoed, resembling chains dragging on the ground.
From the darkness, a head emerged.
Illuminated by the light, it was clear — a Leopard.
The Leopard’s build was akin to a normal cheetah, yet more athletic, and its gray fur signified its extraordinary nature.
Its eyes were icy blue, like two ice crystals. Two protruding downward fangs were razor-sharp.
"Eight-Winged Ice Crystal Leopard!"
Song Yun’s heart skipped a beat, astonished that such a terrifying mythical beast resided within this stone tower.
The Eight-Winged Ice Crystal Leopard possessed eight wings on its back, allowing flight.
Its sonic attack was powerful, capable of shattering people.
But its true power lay in its eyes, capable of releasing chilling cold, freezing individuals into ice crystals in a short time.
However, according to "Yin Xi’s Manual," the Eight-Winged Ice Crystal Leopard transcended Core Formation. So why was this one only sss-level late stage?
"Roar!"
Then, the Eight-Winged Ice Crystal Leopard issued a low, angry roar, its eerie eyes flaring with rage, swiftly charging out toward the stone gate.
