Chapter 2226: Chapter 1931
Walking into the room, Song Yun headed straight for the bathroom and said to Wang Ling, "Xiao Ling, I’m going to wash up first, you can watch TV."
Wang Ling’s mouth twitched, thinking how Song Yun acted so naturally, entering and going to bathe as if she were his wife.
Gathering her thoughts, she replied irritably, "Song Yun, don’t talk nonsense, I didn’t invite you here for such things."
Song Yun pouted, looking aggrieved, "Can’t I even wash my hands?"
"Wash... wash your hands?"
Wang Ling widened her eyes, stuttering, "You... you mean you want to wash your hands?"
"Yes," Song Yun nodded, "If you won’t let me wash, then forget it."
Wang Ling hurriedly said, "Alright, alright, you can wash your hands first."
Song Yun entered the bathroom, and Wang Ling looked at the closed frosted glass door, suddenly feeling like she’d been played. Could he really just be washing his hands?
While Wang Ling was doubting, the door suddenly opened, startling her.
Song Yun smiled, "Xiao Ling, are you guarding the door to spy on me?"
"Spy on you? I’m not interested."
Wang Ling huffed angrily, suddenly doubting if asking Song Yun for help was the right choice. He never seemed serious.
Song Yun walked out and flopped onto the sofa, "So, what do you want me to help with?"
"Now you’re acting like the host?"
Wang Ling rolled her eyes at the relaxed Song Yun on the sofa. She placed her laptop on the coffee table, the monitor automatically playing several photos of mine pits.
She turned the laptop toward Song Yun, a serious expression on her face, "I’ve discovered a jade pit in the Western Xinjiang Hetian that’s yet to be mined, with tremendous value. If it can be tapped, it’d be a great opportunity for Feng Chaohuang."
Song Yun asked, puzzled, "Doesn’t Feng Chaohuang mainly deal in Burmese jade? Are you planning to change your business strategy to focus on Nephrite Jade now?"
Wang Ling explained, "The old Burmese pits are mostly mined out, with little remaining value. For example, the piece of premium glass-grade imperial green you just found, is now almost extinct, hence its high expense. In the past, it wouldn’t have been valued at four hundred million. In this environment, continuing with Burmese jade would be seeking trouble."
"So now, with this opportunity, I plan to shift Feng Chaohuang’s main focus, to mining Nephrite Jade. The old Hetian pits in the Western Border are similarly almost depleted, with most Nephrite Jade on the market actually being Qinghai Jade. If I can acquire this Nephrite Jade Mine, its significance goes beyond mere mining."
"Can’t tell, you’re quite the business mind, no wonder your dad made you CEO." Song Yun chuckled, then said, "You want my help, not just to assess the original stones in the mine, do you?"
Wang Ling shook her head, "No, we’ve surveyed extensively; the reserves are very rich."
Song Yun was perplexed, "Do you want me to join in commercial negotiations to buy the mine? I wouldn’t consider myself an expert in that."
Wang Ling shook her head again, "Few people know of the mine, and the thirty square kilometers around it is uninhabited wilderness. I bought that land for less than ten million, now all resources there belong to Feng Chaohuang."
"So what do you need me for?"
This time Song Yun was really puzzled. You’ve bought the property, and the jade reserves are rich, what do you need me for?
Wang Ling frowned slightly, her expression grave, "It’s a long story. When I bought the land, others weren’t aware of the Nephrite Jade mine. Recently, I’ve been busy with other matters, so I didn’t rush to mine it. Unexpectedly, the people I stationed there kept getting killed—some fell off a cliff, some drowned, some died in car crashes, all kinds of strange deaths."
Hearing this, Song Yun dropped his joking demeanor, solemnly saying, "Too many incidents occurring, it can’t be a coincidence; this is definitely intentional."
Wang Ling nodded, continuing, "I suspect it’s intentional too, but both the police and private detectives I hired couldn’t find any clues. So I got a security company to station people there, and an even worse incident occurred—a fire broke out, killing all thirty-six personnel."
"After extensive investigation, nothing was found, and I was heavily fined by the government. I had to use many connections to suppress the issue. Now no one dares go there, so I resorted to drone surveillance. But drones crash as soon as they reach the mine area, further confirming someone is sabotaging us."
"Curiously, even if this is commercial competition, the others are acting way too brazen. Plus, all available info suggests no one is in that area. This is very bizarre; I’ve decided to investigate!"
Upon hearing this, Song Yun understood, looking at Wang Ling, he smiled, "You want me to help uncover who’s behind this?"
"Exactly." Wang Ling nodded, "At the rough stone trade fair earlier, I saw your swordsmanship, you’re remarkably skilled, so I want you to join my team."
"Team?" Song Yun raised an eyebrow, "You’ve already assembled a group then?"
Wang Ling didn’t hide it, candidly saying, "Including you and me, there’ll be eight people. The other six are experts in their fields, true specialists."
