Chapter 2230: Chapter 1933: Something Happened!

Wang Ling gave a bitter smile and said, "Morris and Oro were introduced by a friend of mine. He only said their combat power was strong, but didn’t reveal their identities. If Li Huanxin hadn’t said anything, I still wouldn’t know they were professional assassins."

"The group you put together is kind of interesting." Song Yun smiled playfully and asked, "Right, how much did you pay Morris and Oro?"

Wang Ling said, "Two million Huaxia Coin each."

Hearing that, Song Yun raised an eyebrow and said in a deep voice, "For professional assassins ranked around fortieth in the world, killing someone casually would cost at least one million US Dollar. You only gave two million each and thought that was enough to hire them? That’s absolutely impossible."

Wang Ling’s heart gave a jolt. She said in shock and doubt, "You mean they have some other agenda?"

"Whether they do or not, I’m not sure. But with me here, even if they have other plans, you don’t need to worry."

Song Yun blinked at Wang Ling, looking like he was saying, "Leave it all to me."

Seeing this, Wang Ling suddenly felt a bit flustered. She stepped back, wanting to put some distance between herself and Song Yun, but in the cramped space she bumped into the iron wall behind her with a loud clang.

She was startled, and in a flash she bounced forward, straight into Song Yun’s arms.

So soft, so firm!

Song Yun chuckled and wrapped his arms around Wang Ling’s back. "Xiao Ling, are you trying to thank me?"

"You... don’t mess around."

Wang Ling abruptly struggled out of Song Yun’s embrace, both shy and angry. She changed the subject and said, "You... how do you know Morris and Oro’s rates? Don’t tell me you’ve hired killers before?"

Song Yun raised his brows at her, and said mysteriously, "That’s a secret."

"Fine, forget it then."

Wang Ling pouted in annoyance and reached out to pull open the bathroom door.

Song Yun pressed down on her hand to stop her. "You can’t go out yet."

"Why?" Wang Ling’s delicate brows knitted slightly, her face full of confusion.

Song Yun laughed and said, "We’ve been in here less than two minutes. If you go out now, they’ll think I’m not up to the task. That’d screw me over."

"Not up to what?" Wang Ling asked, puzzled, then suddenly realized, her face flushing red. "Song Yun, y–you’re such a scoundrel."

Song Yun curled his lip, looking all innocent. "I’m not a scoundrel. I only squeezed in here with you to remind you, remember? I’m trying to help you."

Wang Ling thought about it. Song Yun really had meant well; she had wrongly blamed him.

She fell silent for a moment, then muttered, "Even if you mean well, doing this ruins my innocence, doesn’t it?"

Song Yun shot back, "What’s more important, your innocence or your safety?"

Wang Ling answered without hesitation, "Of course my innocence is more important."

"Alright then, go on out."

Song Yun pointed at the bathroom door, speaking with righteous seriousness.

Wang Ling was stunned for a moment. Before she could react, Song Yun ran his fingers over her lips, then rubbed his hands together and slapped both her cheeks, leaving two bright red handprints. "Done!"

Wang Ling said blankly, "Y–you... what’s that supposed to mean?"

Song Yun laughed. "Now they’ll think you gave me two slaps. Your innocence is safe, and my manly pride is safe too."

"But..."

Wang Ling still wanted to say something, but Song Yun cut her off. "Hurry up and go out. If you stay too long, they’ll start getting suspicious."

After a moment’s hesitation, Wang Ling pulled open the bathroom door.

She turned back to look at Song Yun, and suddenly remembered his Blacklight Broken Sword. She asked, "Oh right, that broken sword of yours—how come I haven’t seen you bring it on?"

Song Yun said, "I have it on me."

Wang Ling asked doubtfully, "You’re carrying it? Then why didn’t they search you when we went through security?"

Song Yun flicked his not-very-long hair and shamelessly said, "Maybe it’s because I’m handsome."

"Narcissist."

Wang Ling rolled her eyes at Song Yun. Seeing Maisy Lin walking over, she quickly stepped out of the bathroom, deliberately keeping her face stiff, as if she’d just had a fight with Song Yun. She ignored Maisy Lin and went straight back to her seat.

Song Yun was about to walk out of the bathroom when he saw Maisy Lin standing at the door.

Maisy Lin’s gaze landed on his cheeks, her expression saying "I get it," and she smiled. "Looks like barging into the bathroom just now didn’t work out for you."

Song Yun’s lips curled into a playful grin. "Heh, how about you and I have some fun instead?"

Maisy Lin gave him a teasing look, snorted, and said, "Aren’t you afraid I’ll slap you again? My damage output is way higher than Wang Ling’s."

Song Yun blinked and teased, "My damage output will make you fall in love with me."

Maisy Lin curled her lip in disdain. "Sorry, but an Asian size can’t satisfy me. And I don’t like talking to people weaker than me. Move aside, I’m going to the restroom."

"Alright, I can’t afford to mess with you. You’re a demolition expert after all."

Song Yun shrugged, grinning, and walked out of the bathroom.

"Useless playboy second-gen, what’s the point of you tagging along!"

Maisy Lin glared at Song Yun’s back, snorted coldly, and slammed the bathroom door shut.

Song Yun returned to his seat. Morris, Oro, and Li Huanxin all saw the red handprints on his face and broke into gloating smiles.

Seeing this, Wang Ling actually felt a bit guilty. Song Yun had kindly reminded her, yet now everyone misunderstood him. That made her feel bad.

She sat down in the empty seat next to Song Yun, calmed herself, and asked, "Song Yun, what do you do?"

Seeing her take the initiative to chat, Song Yun said with a smile, "I’m just an ordinary guy."

Wang Ling looked surprised. "An ordinary guy? Then who did you learn your swordsmanship from?"

"Self-taught."

"I don’t buy it. Are you from some dojo or something?"

"No. I actually paint—specializing in nude figure studies. If you’re willing, I can draw a nude portrait of you..."
