Chapter 2250: Chapter 1943: Burning with Fury
After Xia Tian looked over the pill recipe Song Yun had given her and did some research, she found that all those herbs were extremely rare and not easy to gather in Yanjing.
So she immediately got on a plane to head for SH, because SH has Huaxia’s largest herb market.
"Three-hundred-year Lingzhi, that’s the oldest age on the list, so it should also be the rarest. I’ll look for that first."
Xia Tian glanced at the archway of the SH herb market and walked inside, asking shop by shop, and finally, in a Chinese herb store called Fuxuan Herb Store, she found two stalks of three-hundred-year Lingzhi.
"Miss, you’re really lucky. Three-hundred-year Lingzhi is already extremely rare now. I just happened to acquire two stalks yesterday—otherwise, even if you searched the whole market today, you wouldn’t find any."
The old shopkeeper looked kind and benevolent as he spoke to Xia Tian.
Xia Tian smiled and said, "Thank you, Boss. I’ll take one stalk. How much is it?"
The shopkeeper held up five fingers. "Five million per stalk."
The price didn’t matter to Xia Tian, and it was actually fairly reasonable. She didn’t bother haggling, pulled out her card, and said, "Boss, swipe the card."
The shopkeeper froze and didn’t move. Xia Tian noticed his gaze had shifted to the doorway, his expression turning ugly.
"Oh? Three-hundred-year Lingzhi. Little brother, we’re pretty lucky today."
A woman’s voice rang out, full of arrogance.
Xia Tian turned around and saw three people walk into the herb shop: a young man and young woman dressed fashionably, faces full of conceit—rich kids at a glance.
There was also an old man around sixty, but he looked vigorous and sharp.
At the same time, that young man also saw the stunningly beautiful Xia Tian. His eyes instantly lit up, his gaze circling all over Xia Tian’s body, a playful smile tugging at his lips.
The young woman walked up to the counter, picked up the two stalks of three-hundred-year Lingzhi, and said to the shopkeeper behind the counter, "These two Lingzhi, I’m taking them. How much?"
The shopkeeper’s mouth twitched; he awkwardly glanced at Xia Tian.
Xia Tian saw the shopkeeper’s dilemma, so she said to the young woman, "Excuse me, miss. I laid eyes on one of those Lingzhi first and was already about to pay."
"Where’d this country bumpkin come from, thinking wearing Chanel makes you some kind of noble?" The young woman shot Xia Tian a contemptuous look and snarled, "I said these two Lingzhi are mine, so they’re mine. Don’t say you haven’t paid yet—even if you had, they’d still be mine."
There are clearly two stalks of Lingzhi, so why do you have to snatch the one I picked?
Xia Tian had never seen someone this vicious and unreasonable before; anger flared in her chest, and she said in a low voice, "I’m buying this Lingzhi no matter what."
The young woman planted her hands on her hips and glared. "You bitch, you think just because you say you’re buying it, you can buy it? You dare fight with me over something—do you even know who I am? You’re practically begging to die!"
Xia Tian said coldly, "I don’t care who you are. Anyway, I’m buying this Lingzhi."
"Stinking bitch, looking for a beating, aren’t you?!"
The young woman snorted and suddenly swung a slap straight at Xia Tian’s face, actually striking out without warning.
But Xia Tian was now at least in Mid-stage Refining Truth; how could she possibly let herself get hit?
She stepped back half a step and easily dodged the slap.
"You dare dodge!"
The young woman, seeing she’d missed, was so furious her teeth were grinding.
"No manners."
Xia Tian let out a cold snort; she also couldn’t swallow this insult. She swung a slap back at the woman in retaliation.
She only meant to teach the other party a lesson, not actually hurt her, so she didn’t use much strength with that slap.
Even so, her speed was quite fast.
Just as her hand was about to land on the young woman’s face, the old man beside them suddenly moved, grabbing Xia Tian’s wrist in one swift motion.
"A master!"
Xia Tian’s heart gave a jolt. She knew the old man was definitely a cultivator too—and stronger than she was.
"You reckless thing, you dare raise a hand against my young lady!"
The old man’s face was cold and stern. He released Xia Tian’s hand and, in the same motion, sent a slap flying—smack—right across Xia Tian’s cheek.
His speed was so fast Xia Tian didn’t even have time to react.
Her cheek instantly swelled up, a bright red five-finger mark appearing, burning with searing pain.
She touched her cheek and looked at the three people in front of her, filled with both hatred and apprehension.
The old man wore a thoroughly arrogant expression, his tone condescending as he said to Xia Tian, "Just an S-level, and you think you can fight us over Lingzhi and even dare fight back? You really don’t know your place. This old man is just giving you a small lesson, so you understand what it means that there’s always a higher mountain and a stronger man."
The young woman’s face was full of smugness; she sneered, "Stinking bitch, you actually dared provoke me. Now you’re getting what’s coming to you."
With that, the young woman slapped a card onto the counter and barked imperiously at the shopkeeper, "Swipe it. I’m taking both stalks of Lingzhi."
The shopkeeper didn’t dare say a word; he hurriedly swiped the card and handed the Lingzhi to the young woman.
"Next time, watch where you’re looking."
The young woman glared at Xia Tian, then twisted her plump hips and headed out of the herb shop.
Only after the three of them had walked out did Xia Tian realize that the handbag she’d put on the counter had somehow been taken by that young man.
Her bag had her ID, bank cards, cash, and phone. Xia Tian was in a strange city—she absolutely couldn’t lose it.
She hurriedly shouted to the young man, "Give me back my bag!"
The young man turned his head, winked at Xia Tian, and said with a grin, "Beauty, if you want this bag, come find me at Moyun Club in downtown SH before eleven tonight."
