Return of the Mythic Bloodline
Chapter 649: Limit Breaker Vajra
The dark clouds in the sky shifted tremendously, parting outward as if an invisible hand had torn them apart. The rain stopped falling in a wide circle above the battlefield.
The four elder dragons caught their breath, the irises of their draconic eyes shrinking into vertical lines.
Absolute chaos erupted on the platform of vines. The cultivators’ faces turned pale, their entire bodies shivering as though they were staring at the apocalypse descending from the heavens. They ran outward, trampling each other and slipping on the soaked vines, desperate to put as much distance as possible between themselves and the battlefield.
"Wh-what the hell is this?" Felix murmured, falling onto his back. His burnt arm was trembling inside its plaster of petals.
Vincent’s breath caught in his throat, sweat trickling down his temple. "I-is this the true power of the Dragon of Death?"
"I can feel it..." Gumiho murmured, rising to her feet, her pink eyes fixed on the sky above. Her wet hair clung to her scarred face. "The very heavens are resonating with Master."
Vyaghra, Mriga and Riksharaja couldn’t tear their eyes away from the apocalyptic scene either.
"So this is what Her Majesty’s master is capable of..." Mriga murmured, his voice barely leaving his lips. He had always wondered what kind of person could train their very goddess. What must his cultivation base be? What kind of ridiculous technique must he possess?
But this? This was far beyond the limits of his imagination.
The reason for their reactions was the thing that emerged from the dark clouds as they parted.
Nearly ten times the size of all four Lóng combined, the head of a black dragon, formed from Death Lightning, covered the entire sky. Its eyes were two endless pits of darkness.
As it descended, cracks spread across space, breaking the very reality around it. Terrible storms erupted, and the ground below shattered at its mere emergence.
The four dragon elders knew instinctively that this thing was dangerous. The technique carried the very aura of death within it. Even they, as the Celestial Dragons, would suffer if they get struck by it.
They could have attacked the caster standing imposingly on the ground, staring at what he had just summoned with his golden eyes. But they didn’t take the risk. Killing him didn’t guarantee that the attack would be cancelled. Their Young Masters were still below, and protecting them was the highest priority.
All four heads rose into the sky, their jaws opening wide. Their throats bulged as concentrated purple and silver energy gathered inside.
"ROAR!!"
The four Celestial Dragons released their greatest raw offensive skills at the same time towards the descending dragon. Two beams of purple energy and two of silver struck the dragon head above, and the collision was cataclysmic enough to be heard from thousands of kilometres away.
The black dragon head stopped mid-motion. The four dragons further increased the output of their roars, their scales flashing in the dark.
Maximilian’s eyes narrowed. He slowly moved his hand downward. As if following his command, the dragon head began moving again, ever so slightly.
Seeing that Maximilian was unguarded, Vincent and Felix exchanged silent glances. In the very next moment, the duo rushed towards him with their sharp claws.
"Even though we are only at the ninth level of the Transcendent Realm, it’s enough to kill you!"
Crash!
Both of their hands pierced through Maximilian’s chest and came out of his back. Blood sprayed into the rain.
"Hahahaha, it’s me, Felix Floraisan Valcyrian, who slayed the Dragon of Death!" Felix laughed, his face twisted in joy.
"No, it’s me who killed him!" Vincent argued, wearing the same twisted face of victory.
"Young Masters!" the four elders cried out simultaneously, breaking off their attack on the dragon head. "What are you doing?"
"We just killed Max—" Felix’s words stopped mid-sentence, his eyes widening as he felt a sharp pain in his abdomen.
The smile vanished from Vincent’s face as well. As the duo lowered their heads, they saw that each one’s hand was piercing through the other’s abdomen.
"B-but how..." Vincent murmured, a bead of blood trickling from the corner of his lip.
"I-I clearly remember killing Maximilian..." Felix added as the duo collapsed onto the wet ground.
Suddenly, they felt a pair of pink, or more accurately, rose gold eyes staring down at them. Their heads slowly turned towards Maximilian, who stood a few metres in front of them, unharmed.
Behind him stood a large ethereal fox. Her pink fur had a softness that seemed impossible for any creature, each strand carrying a faint pearlescent glow. Six magnificent tails unfurled behind her, their tips fading into pure, luminous white. One of the tails was curled around Maximilian as if to protect him from any threat.
Her eyes were perhaps the most mesmerising part of her, vast crystalline pools of rose-gold, with irises that seemed to contain countless tiny stars and vertical pupils at the centre.
Even the scars covering her face couldn’t diminish the divine radiance that came from her.
"No one harms my master," Gumiho’s feminine but undeniably authoritative voice echoed as she glared at Vincent and Felix.
It was only then that the duo realised they had been under her illusion.
Meanwhile, with the four elders distracted, the dragon head from the sky descended, completely unstoppable.
KRAKABOOM!
Thunder echoed from its motion as black lightning danced around the translucent dragon.
The four dragons slammed their claws against it, trying to stop it.
"GRAAAAHH!" they growled as their faces flashed black while the dragon head overpowered them.
Boom!!!The earth blasted open, and massive chunks of land flew outward. Ear-deafening thunder filled the surroundings. Dust and storms covered an area of nearly a hundred kilometres, sweeping away several cultivators who were still retreating in the aftermath.
After several minutes, the dark clouds closed over the sky again, and the pouring rain slowly settled the dust.
However, what was revealed beyond had permanently altered the geography of the Western Continent, leaving scars that might not heal for several hundred years.
