Reverend Insanity : Blood Path
Chapter 102 Leaving Gu Yue Village
“Jin Zhu, let me tell you something! That Rock I bought earlier actually contained a Gu. My luck was incredible!” Beneath the rain, Fang Zheng excitedly told Gu Yue Jin Zhu about his discovery.
Gu Yue Jin Zhu, however, had just noticed a distant figure that resembled Fang Yuan, and most of her attention was drawn toward him. She replied absentmindedly, “That’s great. I didn’t expect you to be so lucky, Fang Zheng. You actually obtained a Gu on your first try.”
Fang Zheng failed to notice her distraction and laughed proudly. “Actually, stone gambling isn’t that difficult. If you don’t believe me, I’ll show you. Come on, I’ll choose one for you this time.”
“Huh?” Gu Yue Jin Zhu finally turned her attention back to him.
“Let’s go. The caravan is leaving for Xiong Clan Village today. If we don’t hurry, it’ll be too late.”
“But I…”
“Don’t worry, I have plenty of primeval stones.” Fang Zheng puffed out his chest. “After I told my uncle and aunt that I’d obtained a Gu from stone gambling, they were so happy that they gave me quite a few primeval stones.”

After several days at Gu Yue Village, the merchant caravan was finally ready to depart. Qing Mao Mountain was home to more than one clan, and the merchants still had several stops to make before continuing on to their next destination.
Unfortunately, the weather showed no sign of improving. Dark clouds hung low over the mountain, and the rain that had persisted for days was growing heavier.
“The rain’s getting worse! Watch your step!”
“Keep the transport Gu worm under control! Don’t let them stray from the path!”
Shouts rang throughout the caravan as merchants, Gu Masters, and servants hurried through the rain, making the final preparations for departure.
The camel-like birds were thoroughly soaked by the rain, their colorful feathers plastered against their bodies. Black-Skinned Fat Beetles struggled along the narrow mountain paths as rainwater streamed down their enormous shells, while the Mountain Spiders were in an even worse state. Their sensitive hairs had been drenched, making them restless and irritable.
The toads, on the other hand, were perfectly content. They naturally enjoyed wet environments and croaked excitedly beneath the heavy rainfall. The Winged Snakes were similarly unaffected, slithering effortlessly across the muddy roads as though the rain had made the journey even more comfortable.
The Gu Masters had their own methods for protecting themselves and their goods from the heavy rain. Some raised their hands and activated Golden Light Gu, forming large pale-golden barriers above themselves. Raindrops struck the barriers and slid harmlessly down their surfaces.
Others used the cheaper Rank One Green Silk Gu. Once activated, their hair grew rapidly and spread outward, forming thick layers that sheltered both the Gu Master and the goods they carried.
Green Silk Gu could also be combined with Black Boar Gu to refine the Rank Two Black Mane Gu. This Gu caused thick black hair to grow across the user’s body, forming a sturdy layer of natural armor. Advancing it further could produce the renowned Rank Three Steel Mane Gu.
Steel Mane Gu was the signature Gu of the famous demonic Gu Master Zhu Ganglie. Using it as the core, he had developed a powerful killer move that combined offense and defense. Its defensive ability was so formidable that only Rank Five experts could easily break through it, causing considerable trouble for the righteous path Gu Masters who pursued him.
Amid the rain, Lin Feng turned and looked back at the gradually receding Gu Yue Village, the place that would one day produce a dragon among men.
It seems Heaven’s Will really is determined to protect Fang Yuan, the future Great Love Immortal Venerable. If I keep trying to force his death now, I’ll only create more unexpected variables. I might even draw Heaven’s Will’s attention directly onto myself.
Lin Feng had originally intended to eliminate Fang Yuan during this visit to Gu Yue Village, but that plan had clearly failed. More importantly, he had personally witnessed how drastically events could change when Fang Yuan’s life was genuinely threatened. The first-generation Gu Yue had awakened far earlier than expected, turning what should have been a simple killing attempt into an encounter with a Rank Five expert.
Forget it. There’s no point forcing the issue. Killing Great Love Immortal Venerable before the battle of Yi Tian Mountain clearly won’t be as simple as I thought.
Still, the journey had hardly been fruitless. Lin Feng had gained a better understanding of Heaven’s Will’s influence, witnessed the unexpected awakening of the first-generation Gu Yue, and most importantly, obtained the Rank Five Blood Path Gu, Blood River Python.
The Blood River Python itself had already given Lin Feng considerable inspiration. He vaguely felt that he could construct a Rank Five killer move around it. Beast-type Gu had one enormous advantage: much of their strength came from their own bodies, greatly reducing the burden on the Gu Master’s primeval essence. Similar examples included River Swallowing Toad, Flying Bear Phantom Immortal Gu, and Tiger Phantom Gu.
If Lin Feng could successfully develop such a killer move, he would gain a Rank Five offensive method while still only being a Rank Four Gu Master.
And if the first-generation Gu Yue eventually came looking for his Blood River Python, Lin Feng would no longer need to flee.
By then, he would have the strength to fight back.
