Reverend Insanity : Blood Path
Chapter 113 Future Plans
Lin Feng was particularly interested in the inheritances left behind by Chi Xiang and Xue Xiang. One cultivated Food Path, while the other cultivated Blood Path. If their descendants had truly disappeared or declined, then the ruins of their former settlements might still contain portions of their inheritances.
“Fine.” Bai Ning Bing agreed without hesitation, causing Lin Feng to look at him with some surprise. “You’re not going to ask why I want them?”
“What’s there to ask?” Bai Ning Bing replied indifferently. “You’re only asking for historical records and legends, not Bai Clan’s Gu recipes. I don’t care about those things. Besides, if you’re secretly planning something against the Bai Clan, they’ll hunt you down afterward.”
His ice-blue eyes suddenly brightened. “That would probably be much more interesting.”
Lin Feng was briefly speechless.
Bai Ning Bing then seemed to remember something. “Since I’ve agreed to your request, you should agree to something in return. I’ve never left Qing Mao Mountain. The world outside must be much more interesting than this place, right?”
He turned toward Lin Feng, curiosity appearing in his eyes. “Tell me about the places you’ve visited and what you’ve seen outside Qing Mao Mountain.”
…
Gu Yue Village
Warm sunlight fell across Gu Yue Village, illuminating rows of green bamboo houses. Barefoot farmers with mud covering their feet walked along the road after finishing their work in the fields. Some carried shovels over their shoulders, while others balanced shoulder poles as they hurried home.
Two children ran between them. The child in front held a small bamboo windmill high above his head while the other chased after him, shouting angrily. Judging from the scene, the first child had probably snatched the other’s toy.
At that moment, two young Gu Masters wearing blue belts approached quickly, apparently in a hurry.
“Move! Don’t block the road!”
One of them shoved aside a farmer standing in his path. The nearby farmers immediately scattered, lowering their heads without any intention of resisting. The two young Gu Masters snorted and continued forward with arrogant expressions, as though what had just happened was perfectly natural.
Fang Yuan watched the scene silently, and memories from his previous life surfaced in his mind. No matter which world it was, those without power would always remain at the bottom.
His expression remained unchanged as he withdrew his attention and focused part of his mind on his aperture. Several Gu moved within it, surrounded by the slowly surging primeval sea.
The Liquor Worm floated comfortably on the surface of the primeval sea, occasionally rolling around before curling itself into a small ball like a glutinous rice dumpling. Deeper within the aperture, the Spring Autumn Cicada concealed its presence completely.
Another Gu hovered above the primeval sea. It resembled a plump white pig, with a pair of small wings constantly fluttering behind it. Fang Yuan guessed that this Gu had originally been part of the inheritance left behind by the Flower Wine Monk.
However, it had ultimately fallen into the hands of First Gen Gu Yue, who later gave it to Fang Yuan. First Gen Gu Yue had deliberately used the remaining Gu from the Flower Wine Monk’s inheritance as benefits, enticing Fang Yuan to cultivate harder and become more useful to him.
Temporarily working under First Gen Gu Yue isn’t entirely bad. At the very least, I can borrow his strength and resources. Otherwise, even with five hundred years of memories from my previous life, developing from nothing would still take considerable time.
More importantly, First Gen Gu Yue cultivated the Blood Path. Fang Yuan had reached Blood Path grandmaster attainment in his previous life. Such an advantage was far too valuable to leave unused simply because Blood Path was difficult to cultivate openly.
Although First Gen Gu Yue had placed Fang Yuan under his control, the benefits Fang Yuan received from him were real. Furthermore, despite being a Rank Five Gu Master, First Gen Gu Yue cultivated the very path Fang Yuan understood exceptionally well. Fang Yuan might not know every method in his possession, but he could understand and counter many of them far more easily than an ordinary Gu Master could.
There was also the Spring Autumn Cicada. Unless First Gen Gu Yue obtained something like a Rank Five enslavement Gu capable of directly controlling him, ordinary enslavement methods would have great difficulty affecting Fang Yuan while the Spring Autumn Cicada remained within his aperture.
For these reasons, Fang Yuan was in no hurry to free himself from First Gen Gu Yue. On the contrary, he was more interested in obtaining the Blood Path inheritance accumulated in the old monster’s hands.
If I can obtain his Blood Path Gu and inheritance, I could save myself hundreds of years of effort compared with my previous life. But thinking about that now is pointless. First, I need to feed White Boar Gu and gain the strength of a boar.
White Boar Gu was a valuable Strength Path Gu comparable to Black Boar Gu. Both could permanently increase a Gu Master’s physical strength by the strength of a boar, and even their appearances were somewhat similar. Their later refinement recipes, however, were different.
Black Boar Gu could be combined with Green Silk Gu to refine the Rank Two Black Mane Gu, which could later advance into the Rank Three Steel Mane Gu. Steel Mane Gu could turn a Gu Master’s hair as hard and sharp as steel needles, giving it both offensive and defensive uses.
One of White Boar Gu’s most practical advancement routes was different. It could be refined together with Jade Skin Gu into Rank Two White Jade Gu, which could later advance into Rank Three Sky Canopy Gu. Sky Canopy Gu covered the Gu Master’s body in a layer of white light that provided powerful protection and weakened attacks such as moonblades, making it an excellent defensive Gu among Rank Three Gu.
Naturally, these were not the only possible refinement routes, merely two of the most common and practical ones.
For Fang Yuan, however, there was a more immediate problem.
