Chapter 28 Tie Yuning Investigation

Tie Yuning shook her head.

“That person was very skilled.

They must have been a long-time member of the caravan and knew how everything worked.

I only discovered the beast-attracting powder by accident.

After that, I couldn’t find any other useful clues.

However, I can be certain of one thing: the culprit is someone within this caravan.”

Jia Hu clenched his fists so tightly that his knuckles cracked.

His mood was already terrible.

With the Jia clan leader nearing the end of his life and preparing to choose a successor, this was the most critical time to prove his worth.

The heavy losses suffered by the caravan would undoubtedly affect how the future clan leader judged his abilities.

Tie Yuning tried to reassure him.

“Caravan Leader, there’s no need to worry.

Since I brought this matter up, I naturally have a way to uncover the culprit.

All we need to do is have everyone in the caravan explain what they’ve been doing over the past few days.

We’ll begin with the Vice leaders.

I have Deduction Gu.

With its help, finding the culprit won’t be difficult.”

“Great!

That’s wonderful!

We’ll do exactly as you suggest.” Jia Hu was overjoyed.

He had been suppressing his anger for days.

If he caught the person responsible, he would skin them alive.

Jia Hu immediately discussed the matter with the other Vice leaders and revealed Tie Yuning’s identity.

The Tie clan’s reputation for solving cases was renowned throughout the Southern Border.

After learning that she was the daughter of the Tie clan leader, none of the deputy leaders raised any objections.

With everyone’s agreement, Tie Yuning immediately began her investigation.

“Vice leader Su, someone reported that you secretly left the camp not long ago.

Where did you go, and what were you doing?”

Seeing that Tie Yuning was young and only a Rank 1 Gu Master, Vice Leader Su could not hide the contempt in his eyes.

“What do you mean by sneaking around?

I acted openly and honestly.

I merely stopped by that village for a visit.

What’s wrong with that?

Besides, I only went hunting afterward with a few other Gu Masters…”

After hearing his explanation, Tie Yuning lowered her head in thought, as though silently activating a Gu.

A moment later, she raised her head.

“Not quite.

When you visited that village, you intentionally spread the news that the Xiao family was still selling off their goods.

As a result, the villagers forced the Xiao family to lower their prices.”

“You’ve done this sort of thing more than once, so it isn’t unusual.

However, based on everything you’ve said, I don’t believe you’re the one who scattered the beast-attracting powder.”

“You…

you’re talking nonsense!

Those two things have nothing to do with each other!

How could I possibly do something so underhanded and shameless?”

Vice Leader Su’s face flushed red.

Just as Vice Leader Su was about to argue with Tie Yuning, Vice Leader Xiao suddenly threw him to the ground.

“You bastard!

So it was you all along!

No wonder the price I’d already negotiated suddenly dropped!”

Tie Yuning frowned slightly at the sudden scuffle but did not interfere.

She simply walked over to another vice leader.

“Vice Leader Zhao, could you tell me where you’ve been over the past few days?”

After witnessing Tie Yuning’s terrifying investigative ability, Vice Leader Zhao coughed awkwardly.

“I…

I have nothing to hide!

I didn’t do anything!

It wasn’t me.

It definitely wasn’t me!”

“In that case, Vice Leader Zhao, you’ll have to prove your innocence.

Otherwise, how do you expect everyone else to believe you?” Tie Yuning said firmly.

The moment Tie Yuning finished speaking, everyone’s eyes turned toward Vice Leader Zhao.

Vice Leader Zhao let out a helpless sigh.

“Fine, fine.

I’ll talk.”

There was nothing suspicious about Vice Leader Zhao’s movements.

However, after comparing his account with what she had observed over the past few days, Tie Yuning still exposed several of his little schemes.

He often took advantage of the damp night air to make another Gu Master’s tea absorb moisture and lose its quality.

He had also secretly tampered with another person’s goods, causing them to become infested with insects.

It had to be said that the Gu Masters in this caravan were only average when it came to business, but when it came to sabotaging their companions behind their back, every one of them was an expert.

Next, Tie Yuning questioned another vice leader about his whereabouts.

Although she found no clues related to the beast-attracting powder, she accidentally uncovered his secret affair with the wife of a Rank 2 Gu Master.

The revelation instantly threw the tent into chaos.

The two Gu Masters began shouting at each other, and before long, they were on the verge of coming to blows.

Time passed like this.

Not only had they failed to uncover the culprit, but the atmosphere inside the caravan had become even more strained.

“What a greenhorn!

If you’re handling a case, then handle the case.

Why offend everyone before you’ve even caught the culprit?” Jia Hu rubbed his throbbing temples, feeling a headache coming on.

After arguing for so long, everyone gradually came to the same realization.

If they let Tie Yuning continue investigating, they might never catch the culprit behind the beast tides, but the caravan’s leadership would certainly fall apart first.

There was no helping it.

Every one of them had done their share of dirty deeds, both openly and in secret.

Yet Tie Yuning was far too straightforward.

Whenever she uncovered something, she exposed it on the spot without the slightest regard for the consequences.

If this continued, there would be no need for the culprit to destroy the caravan.

They would tear themselves apart first.

In the end, everyone silently reached the same conclusion.

Tie Yuning’s investigation had to end there.

They were already close to Jia Family Village.

As long as they returned safely, everything else could wait.
