Reverend Insanity : Blood Path
Chapter 30 Humiliation II
“What?
Am I wrong?” the logistics Gu Master sneered, her voice brimming with confidence, as though she possessed undeniable proof.
“Since you’ve already done it, what are you so embarrassed about?
We all understand.”
Understand, my ass!
Fury surged through Tie Yuning.
Unable to endure the humiliation any longer, she lunged at the logistics Gu Master.
Unfortunately, before she could reach her, the others rushed forward and restrained her.
Tie Yuning was only a healing Gu Master.
In terms of combat strength, she had no chance of breaking free.
At that moment, a thin, freckle-faced Gu Master stepped forward from the crowd and raised a hand to quiet everyone
“Miss Tie, you’re saying that’s a rat’s head, correct?”
Tie Yuning remained silent.
Her beautiful eyes were filled with icy anger as she stared at him, having no idea what these people were planning this time.
The freckled Gu Master turned to female Gu Master Zhen.
“You’re saying it’s just a duck neck?”
“Of course!” Zhen replied without hesitation.
“It’s obviously a duck neck.
Everyone here can see that.
I think this little girl is just trying to stir up trouble.” She waved her short, chubby fingers dramatically before putting on an aggrieved expression.
“I’ve worked tirelessly for the caravan every single day without a moment’s rest.
Look how thin I’ve become!
Yet someone still wants to make things difficult for me.
My life is so miserable!
Waaah!”
The freckled Gu Master looked her up and down.
Seeing that she was nearly as wide as she was tall, he coughed twice in embarrassment.
“In that case, let’s ask someone else in the caravan.
We’ll have them identify it and decide whether it’s a rat’s head or a duck neck.
That way, everyone will know the truth.”
“Good.
That’ll shut up all those blind fools spouting nonsense,” Tie Yuning said coldly.
She wasn’t stupid.
By now, she had already realized she had been deliberately set up.
But who was behind it, and why?
“Very well,” the freckled Gu Master said with a grin.
“However, falsely accusing one of your companions is a serious matter.
Whoever is wrong should take responsibility.
If it turns out to be a duck neck, you’ll eat it.
If it turns out to be a rat’s head, Zhen will eat it.
What do you think?”
“Fine!” Tie Yuning agreed without hesitation.
“Since she insists it’s a duck neck, then she can enjoy this ‘duck neck’ herself.
But you can’t choose the witness.
We’ll pick someone at random from the caravan.”
“No problem.
Whatever you say.”
Tie Yuning’s firm attitude only caused the surrounding crowd to burst into laughter, leaving her completely bewildered.
A duck neck was a duck neck, and a rat’s head was a rat’s head.
There was no way anyone could be so blind that they couldn’t tell the difference.
But Tie Yuning was quickly proven wrong.
“It’s a duck neck!
I eat duck necks all the time!” one of the mortals declared confidently.
“That’s right, young lady.
Take a closer look.
If this isn’t a duck neck, then what is it?” another added.
“It looks a little strange, but it’s definitely a duck neck!” “We ordinary mortals can’t afford expensive meat.
Duck neck is something we eat regularly.
There’s no way we’d mistake it.”
Tie Yuning questioned one person after another.
Without exception, every single one insisted it was a duck neck.
She stood there in complete disbelief.
When enough people repeated the same lie, it began to feel like the truth.
For a fleeting moment, she even wondered if there was something wrong with her own eyes.
No.
This is definitely a rat’s head.
It can’t possibly be a duck neck.
But I’ve never had any grudge against Zhen or anyone else.
Why would they go to such lengths just to frame me?
Wait…
Damn it, it must be because of that!
“Hehe, little girl, see?
Your eyes were playing tricks on you.
That’s obviously a duck neck.” The freckle-faced Gu Master waved his hand with a triumphant smile.
“A bet’s a bet.
Come on, feed the young lady her duck neck.”
As soon as he finished speaking, several female Gu Masters stepped forward and forcibly pried Tie Yuning’s mouth open.
One of them picked up the “duck neck” from the bowl and slowly brought it closer.
“No…
no!
Don’t come any closer!”
The rat’s head, covered in black fur and soaked in greasy broth, drew closer and closer.
A violent wave of nausea surged up her throat, her stomach churned violently, and Tie Yuning felt as though she were about to vomit.
Never had she imagined that the dignified young lady of the Tie clan would one day suffer such humiliation.
Watching the foul rat’s head draw closer and closer, despair gradually filled her eyes.
“Wait!” Just then, a loud voice suddenly echoed through the crowd.
Lin Feng, Vice leader of the caravan stepped forward.
He had always intended to step in at the very last moment and save Tie Yuning.
Even a second earlier would have been too soon.
After Tie Yuning had exposed the caravan leaders’ countless dirty secrets during the previous investigation, he had long expected them to retaliate.
It was only natural.
It was like investigating corrupt officials.
Catching a single corrupt official was easy enough.
The difficult part was that every case was entangled with countless others.
Pull one radish from the ground, and an entire cluster came with it.
If you focused solely on arresting the corrupt official, the case could be solved quickly.
But if you insist on exposing everyone connected to them, not only might you fail to catch the culprit, you could even lose your own life.
That was why experienced Tie clan Gu Masters focused only on the suspects directly connected to the case whenever they conducted an investigation.
Even if they uncovered other injustices or corruption along the way, they simply pretended not to notice.
Tie Yuning, however, was clearly too young and inexperienced.
When she exposed all those scandals in the tent earlier, she had secretly congratulated herself, believing she had uncovered countless hidden truths through a single investigation.
Little did she know that, by doing so, she had turned nearly everyone in the caravan against her.
