Chapter 415 - 414: Visiting the Set

「Friday, November 1st.」

Yun Zijin was invited to attend the production’s opening ceremony with Gao Mi’s crew.

"Miss Yun, please stand in the very center."

Gao Mi was extremely grateful for Yun Zijin’s initial investment. It was also because of her that Lu Yunque, a titan of industry who never dabbled in the entertainment world, had followed suit and invested twenty million.

Regardless, when Gao Mi was in dire straits, it was Yun Zijin who had thrown him a lifeline.

Even though Lu Yunque had added to the investment later, it still couldn’t compare to Yun Zijin’s thirty million.

Yun Zijin didn’t stand on ceremony and went directly to the center of the line, flanked by the male and female leads.

However, after a moment of thought, Yun Zijin realized she couldn’t recall who these two leads were.

’Does this mean the leads Director Gao found aren’t trending stars?’

Only she would tolerate this. If it were any other investor, and Gao Mi had dared to do this, they would have pulled their funding in a heartbeat.

Still, thirty million wasn’t a huge sum to Yun Zijin. Even if the show flopped, it wouldn’t be a major loss for her.

It was only thirty million, a loss she could afford.

Of course, filming had only just begun. Anything could still happen.

Everyone on set knew Yun Zijin was the first investor Gao Mi had secured. Although she completely overshadowed the two leads by standing with them, neither of them said a word.

In the face of capital, small-time celebrities like them had no power to resist. It was better to just keep their heads down and be pretty faces.

"Alright, time to offer the incense!"

After having photos taken, Gao Mi had someone bring over a large bundle of incense. It was lit, and everyone was given three sticks, Yun Zijin included.

Gao Mi offered his incense first, then called Yun Zijin over. After her came the producer and some of the C-list actors.

Yun Zijin placed her incense next to Gao Mi’s three sticks and then stepped aside.

"We’re shooting the first take in a bit, and there can be absolutely no NGs! You two better get into character right now. Whoever messes up doesn’t get to eat today!"

This wasn’t Gao Mi’s first time directing, but it was Yun Zijin’s first time observing a shoot on set. Seeing him warn the two actors beforehand, she suddenly found his image rather impressive.

’He’s a director, all right,’ she thought. ’When he scolds people, he’s absolutely merciless.’

The two young actors nodded hurriedly, promising they absolutely wouldn’t mess up the take.

The two had been rehearsing for this scene privately for a long time.

And with Gao Mi’s stern warning, they dared not slack off.

The two quickly found their positions, waiting for the floor manager’s cue to start filming.

"Scene 1, Take 1, action!"

Sitting off to the side, Yun Zijin watched as the actors and crew coordinated with one another, perfectly completing the first shot. A smile crept onto her face.

"Very good! Keep it up. Let’s get a safety take!"

Seeing that everyone was busy with their respective duties, Yun Zijin felt it was awkward to just sit there doing nothing. She took out her phone and started searching for nearby places to eat and drink.

Since this was her first time visiting to check on their filming progress, Yun Zijin felt that, as the investor, she could treat the crew to some food.

Yun Zijin used her phone to contact a restaurant and arrange the order.

By noon, everyone in the crew finally took a break from filming, and just then, the milk tea and lunch Yun Zijin had ordered arrived.

"Director Gao, I ordered milk tea and lunch. It’s just been delivered to the entrance of the film studio. Can you find two people to help me go get it?"

"That’s fantastic! Miss Yun, you’re so generous! Two people, go with Miss Yun to get the takeout!"

Hearing that Yun Zijin had ordered food, Gao Mi grinned from ear to ear.

The crew, including all the behind-the-scenes staff, was quite large. The money spent on ordering food every day was just burning through the budget.

Gao Mi inwardly wished Yun Zijin would come every day. That way, he could save the meal money and use it for other things.

Because the budget was tight, Gao Mi always felt their props weren’t as perfect as they could be.

But he knew it was impossible. Although Yun Zijin was wealthy, she wasn’t a fool with money. There was no way she’d be buying them meals every day.

At Director Gao’s behest, a young man named Jiang He quickly ran over.

"Miss Yun!"

Yun Zijin nodded. "Let’s go. I wasn’t sure what everyone likes, so I just ordered some of the signature dishes. There are spicy and non-spicy options. You all can just pick what you want later."

"No problem! Whatever you ordered is definitely better than the boxed lunches the production provides!"

’Mainly because what she ordered is expensive. The crew’s boxed lunches cost fifteen yuan a piece. You can’t get anything good for that price.’

Yun Zijin just smiled and didn’t say anything.

’I’m not here every day,’ she mused. ’They’ll have to go back to the crew’s boxed lunches eventually, or else buy their own food.’

To save on actors’ fees, Gao Mi had hired unknown newcomers. They were cheap and obedient, so it was unlikely any of them would be willing to spend their own money on separate meals.

Yun Zijin led the two young men out of the film studio and immediately spotted the people delivering the lunch and afternoon tea.

Because Yun Zijin had placed a rather large order, the restaurant had sent its own delivery person instead of using a standard delivery service.

"Miss Yun, here is your order. Thank you for trusting our restaurant. I hope you and your colleagues enjoy your meal!"

The delivery person had clearly been coached, spouting one pleasantry after another upon seeing Yun Zijin.

Yun Zijin stepped forward and took one of the noticeably smaller bags, leaving the rest for the two young men.

The two young men were right behind her.

They deftly took the rest of the items from the delivery person and quickly headed back into the film studio, soon arriving at their crew’s site.

When the others saw the food had arrived, they swarmed over without needing any prompting from Yun Zijin.

Gao Mi was also in the crowd, grabbing a milk tea and a boxed lunch he liked.

Yun Zijin took a portion for herself as well. After all, her plan for the day was to stay with the crew, and if she didn’t eat, she had no idea how hungry she’d be by the afternoon.

However, Gao Mi had prepared a small lounge for her, so Yun Zijin took her lunch inside to eat.

After eating, she could even take a nap on the small cot inside.

Yun Zijin didn’t know what everyone else’s plans were, but she had already told Gao Mi that she planned to take a nap after lunch.

Yun Zijin was just an investor; her presence on set wasn’t essential. So when she mentioned her plan to nap, Gao Mi simply nodded in understanding.

Everyone else was busy with their own tasks, so few people noticed that Yun Zijin was no longer on the shooting set.

By the time Yun Zijin came out after her nap, it was already 3:00 PM.

Seeing her emerge, Gao Mi took a moment to greet her before quickly diving back into filming.

As the investor, Yun Zijin was very pleased to see everyone on the crew working so seriously and responsibly.
