No matter how you looked at it, he was in the wrong, so Zhang Bowen simply remained silent.

“I’ll get straight to the point. We’ve seen the security footage, and you know the truth.

She intentionally fell into the water, causing your wife to fall in as well. Then, she played the victim to trick you into thinking your wife pushed her. Those are the facts, aren’t they?

I don’t care about anything else. Now that the truth is out, she has to apologize.”

Jiang Qianqian lowered her head, looking as if she were on the verge of tears, but she showed no intention of apologizing.

“Qianqian, what you did today was wrong. Apologize to Xiao Yan.”

With Yun Zijin and her friends watching, Zhang Bowen had no way to shield Jiang Qianqian and could only force her to apologize.

Jiang Qianqian might not have known who Yun Zijin and her friends were, but Zhang Bowen knew all too well.

Among the four of them, Yun Zijin alone was powerful enough to make it impossible for him and Jiang Qianqian to survive in Dijing.

Since Zhang Bowen had spoken, Jiang Qianqian had to reluctantly apologize to Liu Yan, even if her heart screamed in protest.

“Sister Liu, my apologies.”

That apology made Yun Zijin and her friends frown. ‘Can’t she even say a proper “I’m sorry”?’

However, seeing the look on Liu Yan’s face, Yun Zijin didn’t press the issue.

Zhang Bowen was too embarrassed to linger. After Jiang Qianqian apologized to Liu Yan, he pulled her away and left.

Although he was eager to curry favor and chat with Yun Zijin’s group, the current situation was entirely inappropriate for it.

After Zhang Bowen’s party of three had left, Yun Zijin and her friends leisurely moved to another spot.

Inside the banquet hall, Lu Yunque was, as always, the center of attention. But when he saw Yun Zijin leave the hall pushing Lu Yunzhou’s wheelchair, followed by Su Mengyao and Tu Tutu, his mood instantly soured.

The people around him noticed his expression darken. A few who had been chatting animatedly quickly trailed off, not daring to speak.

“Mr. Lu, regarding what we just discussed, I was wondering if it would be possible to…”

Lu Yunque raised a hand, signaling for the man to stop talking.

“If it’s about business, bring your project proposal and make an appointment with the Lu Family on Monday. This is after hours; I’m not discussing work.”

The old Lu Yunque might have listened just to kill time—banquets were boring, after all, and you never knew when a pleasant surprise might pop up.

But now, with his heart completely captivated by Yun Zijin, and seeing her leave the banquet hall, Lu Yunque had no desire to listen any longer.

Shaking off a pack of CEOs who flocked to him like starving dogs to a bone, Lu Yunque headed straight for the same door Yun Zijin’s group had just used and exited the banquet hall himself.

The moment he stepped out of the banquet hall, Lu Yunque felt like he could breathe easier.

He turned his head and spotted the four of them resting on some chairs by the swimming pool.

Just then, as if sensing his presence, Yun Zijin turned her head and saw Lu Yunque walking toward them.

A smile instantly blossomed on Yun Zijin’s face. “What are you doing here?”

When she left, she had seen Lu Yunque surrounded by a crowd. It didn’t matter if they had business ties with him or not… everyone wanted to make an impression on him.

Perhaps one day, when the Lu Family launched a new project, Lu Yunque might remember their faces.

“You all left, so there was no reason for me to stay in there alone.”

It was billed as a welcome banquet for two elders of the Situ Family, but everyone knew that these events were just social networking opportunities in disguise.

At a single banquet like this, countless funds were secured for investment, though just as many people who arrived full of confidence left in defeat.

The four great families—Lu, Sheng, Li, and Fu, represented by people like Lu Yunque—were the biggest “prizes” of the night.

Tu Tutu was on her phone, doing her routine scroll through the trending topics on various social media apps.

Suddenly, Tu Tutu’s expression froze. She quickly shoved her phone in front of Yun Zijin. “Zijin, you’re trending!”

The phone screen she showed Yun Zijin prominently displayed the trending topic: #SituFamilyYunZijin.

“I’m trending?”

Yun Zijin couldn’t understand. ‘I haven’t done anything, have I?’

Su Mengyao leaned in for a look and was just as surprised when she saw the topic.

“Is the privacy protection for guests at a Situ family banquet this bad?”

The banquet wasn’t even over, yet a trending topic had already emerged. No one would believe it wasn’t posted intentionally.

“Whoever benefits the most from this news getting out is the one who released it…”

Just as Tu Tutu said it, she realized something wasn’t quite right.

Once the news was out that Yun Zijin was the granddaughter of the current head of the Situ Family, outsiders would naturally assume she was the one who stood to gain the most.

But those in the know were well aware that Yun Zijin never had any intention of acknowledging her connection to the Situ family.

Yun Zijin tapped on the topic to read the comments.

They were almost universally saying how lucky she was. An orphan for twenty-one years, suddenly found by an old-money dynasty like the Situ Family—it was a total case of Cinderella transforming into Snow White!

Some people were even making wishes in the comments, hoping that by praying to Yun Zijin, her good luck would help them pull an SSR card in a game or win the lottery jackpot…

The variety was endless; there wasn’t a single angle the commenters hadn’t thought of, only ones Yun Zijin hadn’t anticipated.

Of course, there was also a fair share of sour, sarcastic remarks. In short, the comments were all over the place.

“Can we get this taken down? We may be related by blood, but that’s the extent of it.”

Yun Zijin showed her obvious displeasure at the topic trending.

“I’ll handle it.”

With that, Lu Yunque called Mo Bin and ordered him to get the topic taken down.

The Lu Family didn’t operate in the entertainment industry, but if they made a move, every entertainment company would have to give them face.

Even among the wealthy, there’s a pecking order.

And the old, established dynasties reigned supreme over all the other wealthy families.

With Lu Yunque handling it, Yun Zijin didn’t give it another thought.

Because of the trending topic, it wasn’t long before Yun Zijin lost all interest in the party.

“I want to go home.”

Yun Zijin turned, her clear, bright eyes fixed on Lu Yunque.

“If you want to go home, then let’s go. For this kind of banquet, just making an appearance is enough.”

With that, Lu Yunque stood up, ready to leave with Yun Zijin and push Lu Yunzhou’s wheelchair.

“What about you two?”

Yun Zijin looked at Su Mengyao and Tu Tutu.

“My parents are over there. I’ll just go find them in a bit, so don’t worry about me.”

“I’m going to find Su Jingyun. He’s still over there, deep in conversation.”

Su Mengyao pointed in Su Jingyun’s direction.

Just then, Su Jingyun was holding court with a group of other young people, chatting about anything and everything.

The table in front of them was already littered with empty glasses.

“Your brother’s not drunk, is he? You’re going to have to be the one to look after him and get him home.”

Yun Zijin glanced at Su Jingyun’s condition and thought he didn’t look very reliable.

“It’s fine. If my brother’s useless, I’ll just find my parents.”

Su Mengyao had originally thought that if she stuck with Su Jingyun, they could hit an afterparty when the banquet ended. But seeing the state her brother was in, she decisively opted for a different plan.
