Rich Parents Found Me After I Got a Tycoon System? Yeah, I'm Not Interested
Chapter 520 - 519: Employees on Holiday, Boss Works Overtime
Of course, we couldn’t let these children think the charity foundation’s support was unconditional and unlimited. They had to earn the foundation’s approval through their own efforts, submit valid documents, and pass a rigorous review process before they could receive their allotted funding.
This was to ensure that the sponsored students remained diligent and maintained high moral and academic standards during their time in the program.
While they were in school, the funds would be paid out annually.
Their academic performance and their conduct at school would determine whether they received funding for the following year.
Finally, after graduating and entering the workforce, they would be required to complete a certain number of volunteer hours for the charity foundation each year.
Yun Zijin had already emailed the director the relevant documents, outlining the materials and procedures required to apply for the foundation’s funding.
The application requirements weren’t strict. Basically, any child at the orphanage who was diligent and genuinely loved learning would be able to apply for the funds.
Liao Zhuxiu had already read Yun Zijin’s email. It was no exaggeration to say that it had solved the orphanage’s most pressing problem.
It’s human nature to want what you lack. Most of the children at the orphanage stopped their education after compulsory schooling.
It wasn’t that the orphanage didn’t want to send them to continue their studies, but it simply didn’t have the funds to support so many children’s further education.
The only reason Yun Zijin had been able to finish high school and get into university was thanks to her "superpower" as a top student: her academic excellence was so outstanding that schools waived her tuition and fees.
For any other child who got into high school but couldn’t secure a waiver for tuition and fees, the orphanage wouldn’t have been able to afford their education.
Now, with Yun Zijin’s support, it was certain the orphanage would only get better and better.
Liao Zhuxiu replied to Yun Zijin, telling her that the children were already in the process of handling the paperwork to go back to school.
Before, they had neither the means nor the opportunity. Now that they did, Liao Zhuxiu naturally wanted every child in the orphanage to be able to get an education.
Even for those who weren’t top students, a high school diploma was still much better than just a middle school one.
In today’s society, a middle school diploma was considered by some to be no better than being illiterate.
Yun Zijin brought it up with Liao Zhuxiu and then left the subject alone.
’After all, when it came to managing the orphanage, Liao Zhuxiu is the expert. All I need to do is provide the funds.’
After finishing her meal at home, Yun Zijin went to the rehabilitation center to give Lu Yunzhou his acupuncture treatment, and then headed straight for the Lu Group building.
As the one in charge of the Lu Group, the concept of a "holiday" didn’t really exist for Lu Yunque.
So, while all the employees were home for the holidays, Lu Yunque was still at the Lu Group working overtime. This also meant that his special assistant, the long-suffering Mo Bin, had to be right there with him, working overtime as well.
When Mo Bin saw Yun Zijin step out of the elevator, he looked at her as if she were his savior.
"Miss Yun, you’re here!"
Yun Zijin took a step back. ’Mo Bin’s stare... it’s a little unsettling.’
"Pull yourself together. The company is closed for the holiday, and your Mr. Lu is still working?"
Yun Zijin was finally getting a taste of the difference between a real-life domineering CEO and the ones in novels.
The domineering CEOs in novels never seemed to work. They just spent all day orbiting the female lead, with way too much time on their hands.
If they had an old flame—a "white moonlight"—in the picture, they’d be donating a kidney one day, giving blood the next, and offering up a cornea the day after that.
Finally, when the female lead was completely drained and wanted to leave, the male lead would go, "Don’t leave me! I just realized I’m actually in love with you! My old flame tricked me into doing all those things! I can’t live without you!"
And the female lead? ’I love him! He loves me! Since I love him, what choice do I have but to forgive him?!’
But a real-life CEO? They’re insanely busy, even on holidays.
It was a good thing Yun Zijin was unemployed. Otherwise, their relationship would consist of seeing each other just a few times a month.
Mo Bin chuckled awkwardly. "There are just a few documents left to process. It should be quick."
"I’m going in to see him."
Yun Zijin knocked on Lu Yunque’s office door. After hearing a "Come in" from inside, she opened it and went in.
"Just leave any documents on the desk."
Lu Yunque didn’t even look up, his voice devoid of any emotion. ’So this is how he treats his employees,’ Yun Zijin thought.
"Oh? Does Mr. Lu need my help delivering documents, too?"
The moment Yun Zijin spoke, Lu Yunque’s head snapped up. Seeing the very person he’d been longing for appear before him in the flesh, an unconscious smile spread across his face.
"What are you doing here? I still have a few files to deal with. Sit over there and have a snack while you wait for me, okay?"
Lu Yunque glanced at the tall pile of folders on his desk.
"What’s the point of earning so much money? Your employees get time off, yet you, the boss, still have to work overtime."
At her words, all Lu Yunque could do was wear a resigned expression.
"If I don’t earn a little more, I’m afraid I won’t be able to support you, my dear little landlady of Dijing."
"That’s true. I am very high-maintenance."
Yun Zijin lifted her chin haughtily. It was true; not just anyone had the means to support her.
’Whether I have money or not is up to the System.’
With that said, Yun Zijin found a spot in Lu Yunque’s office and sat down as if she’d done it a hundred times before. A moment later, several bags of snacks appeared on the coffee table in front of her.
Lu Yunque finally finished the last of the day’s documents and sat down beside Yun Zijin.
"Are they good?"
Lu Yunque glanced at the bags of snacks Yun Zijin was eating.
He’d had his secretaries stock them, specifically so Yun Zijin would have something to nibble on and pass the time whenever she came to the Lu Group to see him.
These were all new items that he hadn’t tried himself, so he had no idea how they tasted.
"They’re okay, but they’re a bit dry if you eat too many. You definitely need to have some water on hand."
That was why Yun Zijin had just downed several cartons of sugar-free drinks.
"Okay, got it. I’ll have them get something different next time. Or you could send me a list of things you like, and I’ll have them stock up."
"I can’t think of anything off the top of my head.
We could go to the supermarket together sometime. I’ll know what I like when I see it."
’I can make a list right there.’
"Okay. But... since you aren’t going back to G City for New Year’s Day, would you like to come to my family’s home for dinner?"
Although Yun Zijin had parents who were doctors and knew who they were, she hadn’t acknowledged them. So, she was still a poor little thing with no real family.
Hearing Lu Yunque mention New Year’s Day, Yun Zijin was silent for a moment.
"Don’t worry about it. You’ve already met my grandparents and my parents, after all.
Besides, you give my older brother acupuncture every day, so you must be quite familiar with him by now.
Before my older brother was born, my parents were hoping for a daughter. In a way, your appearance has fulfilled their wish."
"As for having us two boys... well, they didn’t say a word, just had one after the other."
