Chapter 312 - 309: Accepted an Apprentice
Chapter 312: Chapter 309: Accepted an Apprentice
"Hehe, Master, you drank your apprentice’s tea and accepted my three bows. You can’t take it back now, you know."
At this, Fang Chenyi looked down at the green tea in his hand, dumbfounded. He then looked up at the grinning Wu Xin, utterly speechless.
Just then, Professor Wu, who was standing to the side, began to chide his granddaughter.
"Nonsense! Taking a master requires Xiaofang’s consent. This isn’t a game!"
Hearing her grandfather’s words, Wu Xin, who thought she had just pulled a fast one, immediately pouted and looked at Fang Chenyi with a pitiful expression.
Seeing this, Fang Chenyi shook his head with a sigh. ’Oh, what the heck,’ he thought. ’Elder Wu came all this way for my sake and even solved that huge follow-up problem for me.’
’Sigh... fine, I’ll take her as my apprentice. I’ll just write up some design notes for her later and let her study on her own. That should be enough.’
With this in mind, Fang Chenyi couldn’t help but speak up with a wry smile.
"Haha, I was worried that my own skills are still lacking and I might hold Wu Xin back. But since you think so highly of me, Professor Wu, I will accept her. I just hope you won’t blame me if I end up hindering her progress."
Hearing this, Elder Wu beamed, his face creasing with wrinkles. He then turned to his granddaughter and said...
"Did you hear that? Go get a teacup, quickly! It’s time to make it official!"
Fang Chenyi quickly waved his hands in dismissal.
"No, no, let’s skip the formalities. That’s not necessary. Well then, Professor Wu, it’s getting late. I should get back to work on the rest of the blueprints. When I have some time, I’ll write down my design insights for Wu Xin, and I can teach her properly then. And Wu Xin, if there’s anything you don’t understand and Professor Wu happens to not be around, feel free to ask me anytime."
Fang Chenyi phrased this very tactfully. After all, he had to show Professor Wu proper respect.
After saying goodbye to Professor Wu and his granddaughter, Fang Chenyi rode his electric scooter straight back to his villa.
When he got back, he found the bedroom empty of Bai Menghan. Fang Chenyi didn’t even have to guess; he knew she had to be in the study.
Sure enough, when he arrived at the study, he saw her hard at work in front of the computer.
Hearing Fang Chenyi come in, Bai Menghan spoke without looking up.
"You’re back. Go take a shower and cool off."
At her words, Fang Chenyi walked up behind Bai Menghan and wrapped his arms around her.
"Hehe, but what if I can’t reach my back by myself?"
Lightly patting the back of his hand, Bai Menghan said in an exasperated tone...
"Hey, stop fooling around. I’m not done with this yet. Be good and go take your shower, okay?"
But Fang Chenyi wasn’t having any of it. He simply reached down, scooped Bai Menghan up into his arms, and headed for the bathroom.
An hour later, the two emerged in the bedroom. Another hour later, they found themselves in the study. After yet another hour, they made their way from the study back to the bedroom.
Back and forth they went, tumbling about for more than three hours straight. The "battle" finally ceased after much ’persuasion’ from Bai Menghan. As for how exactly she ’persuaded’ him, there’s no need to go into detail.
Early the next morning, Bai Menghan woke Fang Chenyi up. He hadn’t planned on getting up so early, but she insisted on dragging him along, leaving him no choice but to crawl out of bed.
He stretched groggily, then asked Bai Menghan, who was walking rather gingerly...
"*Yawn*... Xiao Hanhan, what’s wrong?"
Bai Menghan shot him a fierce, exasperated glare at his question. Then, without another word, she started slowly down the stairs, still careful not to take too wide a step with her long legs.
Fang Chenyi vaulted out of bed and quickly caught up to her, asking with concern...
"Xiao Hanhan, what’s really the matter? Is it that time of the month?"
Bai Menghan gave the soft flesh on his waist a sharp, exasperated pinch before retorting irritably...
"And you’re asking *me*? Isn’t this your fault for insisting on... going from behind in the study last night?"
Fang Chenyi froze for a moment at her words. When he processed what she said, a wicked grin spread across his face.
Hearing his laugh, Bai Menghan grew even more furious and gave the soft flesh of his waist another vicious pinch.
She didn’t let go until Fang Chenyi was hissing in pain.
When they arrived at Villa Number One, his dad had already gone to get the car, and his mom and mother-in-law had finished breakfast.
Noticing the strange way Bai Menghan was walking, both her mother and Fang Chenyi’s mother asked about it with concern.
Bai Menghan, of course, couldn’t tell the truth, so she just stammered that her "auntie" had come to visit and her stomach hurt a little.
The two mothers didn’t think much of it. They simply reminded Bai Menghan to avoid cold and spicy foods before grabbing their purses and heading out.
Once they were gone, Bai Menghan caught Fang Chenyi smirking wickedly and immediately reached out to pinch his waist again.
Wen Jinjin, who was sitting across the table, was focused on her food, paying no mind to the couple’s little exchange.
After breakfast, Fang Chenyi and Bai Menghan took Fang Jinjin to the examination site again.
They spent another day waiting outside the exam site. Fortunately, this didn’t interfere with Fang Chenyi’s "business." Thanks to the hot weather, the supply of empty bottles in the trash cans was endless.
By the end of the day, he’d made another million in income.
On the third day, his sister’s exams were finally over, and Bai Menghan went back to school for her classes. In just a few more days, she would be graduating as well.
Now free from her exams, his little sister didn’t bother Fang Chenyi, instead making plans to go shopping with her classmates.
Fang Chenyi was very supportive of this plan—after all, it meant she wouldn’t be bothering him. With a grand wave of his hand, he stuffed a bank card with a million deposited on it into Fang Jinjin’s hand.
"There’s money in here, so buy whatever you want. Don’t hold back. The PIN is the last six digits of the card number. Remember, don’t be afraid to spend it. And don’t you dare try to save money for your big brother!"
Fang Jinjin took the card with a smile. "You’re the best, big bro!" she said, before happily skipping out the door.
Watching his sister leave, Fang Chenyi tidied himself up, grabbed his bag, and headed out the door.
Of course, he wasn’t going out to collect junk; he was heading to the construction site.
Today was the official groundbreaking for the project. All sorts of officials, big and small, would be attending the ceremony to show their support.
Fang Chenyi hadn’t wanted to go, but Wei Yilong absolutely refused to let him off the hook, insisting that for an event this big, the boss himself had to be present.
He went outside and got into the bulletproof Hongqi H9. Liu Yishou was personally driving, taking Fang Chenyi to his super-commercial park.
Upon arriving at the site, he saw that a large, flat area had been cleared the day before right in the center, where the Sun Tower would eventually stand. A huge ceremonial stage had also been fully constructed.
Staff members were bustling about, while below the stage, countless reporters were setting up and calibrating their equipment.
When he saw Fang Chenyi’s car arrive, Wei Yilong, who was in the middle of a press interview, quickly apologized to the camera and jogged over to the vehicle.
Seeing Fang Chenyi get out of the car dressed in a tank top and shorts, Wei Yilong almost fainted on the spot.
"My dear boss! Today is the ribbon-cutting ceremony, and you’re wearing... *that*? This is being broadcast live! Do you see that camera in the center? That’s from CCTV! I’m not exaggerating, this is going out nationwide!"
Fang Chenyi froze. He followed Wei Yilong’s gaze and, sure enough, saw a camera with "CCTV" written on it.
He immediately rapped Wei Yilong on the head and snapped...
"Holy crap, why the hell didn’t you tell me sooner? I thought it was just the municipal TV station!"
With that, he spun around and dove back into the car, telling Liu Yishou to get out and wait for a minute.
Then, he reached over and pulled out a large, woven plastic bag.
’Damn,’ he muttered to himself. ’Good thing I brought a change of clothes in my bag...’
