Chapter 983: Fulfilling Another's Trust, Remaining Loyal to Their Cause (3)

“Brother Lin, I hope you can inform our Sect Elders about the situation inside the Holy Fire Realm.”

Zhang Qing cupped his fists toward Lin Chen. Lin Chen looked at Zhang Qing with some doubt. “What do you mean by that?”

“Brother Lin, those few strands of Innate Fire are extremely powerful, and we’re still two days away from the exit. I fear those fellow brothers won’t be able to hold on. I need to go back and help them. Please trouble Brother Lin to take my junior brother away from here.”

In Zhang Qing’s eyes, although Lin Chen had displayed great strength, those strands of Innate Fire were even stronger. If he were Lin Chen, once he understood what was happening in here, there was no way he would stay. As long as the news was brought out, the Sect Elders would definitely reward him heavily.

Of course, he could hide the true power of those strands of Innate Fire and let Lin Chen go look for the other brothers to buy time, but doing so would only incur Lin Chen’s displeasure.

If he rushed back, one more person would mean they could hold on for a few more days.

“Senior brother, if anyone leaves it should be…”

“Junior brother!”

Seeing his own junior brother’s anxious look, Zhang Qing hardened his face and cut him off. “Master has already said that your talent is higher than mine. On the future road of the Martial Path, you’ll go farther than I ever will. You should be the one to live and get out. Before, I was afraid you wouldn’t be able to get out alone, but now that Brother Lin is with you, you should have no problem escaping.”

Zhang Qing’s junior brother fell silent when he heard this.

Lin Chen looked at Zhang Qing and his junior with some surprise. The two really shared a deep brotherhood. Normally, even fellow disciples of the same sect would first choose to protect themselves in such a situation.

“No need. Tell me where the others are trapped, then you brothers both leave.”

Although the brotherly affection between these two was moving, Lin Chen didn’t want to waste time; he directly interrupted their talk.

“Brother Lin?”

Zhang Qing stared at Lin Chen in some astonishment. He didn’t believe Lin Chen could be unaware of the danger involved. If these were merely ordinary Innate Fires, there was no way so many of their brothers would be trapped.

“I promised Elder Zhuang. When entrusted by others, one must faithfully do the task.”

Seeing Zhang Qing about to speak again, Lin Chen interrupted him once more. “Don’t delay any longer. The sooner I get there, the sooner your brothers will receive support.”

“Many thanks, Brother Lin. Once I’m out, I’ll definitely relay Brother Lin’s exact words to the Sect Leader and Elders without omission.”

Lin Chen had already said this much, so Zhang Qing no longer dawdled. After telling Lin Chen the direction where the other disciples were trapped, he bowed deeply toward Lin Chen, and his junior brother followed suit and saluted as well.

“Brother Lin, take care.”

“You two also be careful.”

After finishing his instructions to the two brothers Zhang Qing, Lin Chen’s figure flickered, and he turned into a streak of rainbow light, rushing toward the direction Zhang Qing had indicated.

“Senior brother, I didn’t expect this Lin Chen to be like this…”

“He is a true gentleman.” Zhang Qing watched the direction Lin Chen left, admiration in his eyes.

If he were Lin Chen, upon learning the situation inside the Holy Fire Realm, he would not choose to risk himself.

“Let’s go. Since Brother Lin has taken the risk on our behalf, we brothers must see that the news gets out.”

…

…

Within the Holy Fire Realm, Lin Chen pushed his speed to the limit, thirty percent faster than before. Three two-hour periods later, Lin Chen slowed down, because he had already discovered the disciples of the Ten Thousand Flames Sect.

In a certain canyon, dozens of disciples of the Ten Thousand Flames Sect were sitting cross-legged. The entire canyon was shrouded by a defensive light barrier, and at this moment those disciples were continuously channeling the Innate Energy in their bodies into the golden pearl floating in front of their mouths.

Boom!

A massive azure Fire Dragon slammed fiercely into the barrier. The barrier trembled, the bodies of the Ten Thousand Flames Sect disciples inside swayed, but they managed to hold on—barely.

And at the mouth of the canyon, three more Fire Dragons coiled there, each as large as a small mountain. The six pairs of dragon eyes of these three dragons were viciously fixed on the disciples within the barrier.

Just as Lin Chen’s Divine Thought perceived what was happening over by the canyon, those three coiled Fire Dragons suddenly turned their heads, their gaze shooting toward the direction where Lin Chen was.

They’ve discovered me!

Truly Innate Fire—their Perception is razor sharp.

Since he’d been discovered, Lin Chen had no intention of hiding his presence. His aura fully erupted, and he shouted, “Senior and junior brothers of the Ten Thousand Flames Sect, I’ve come to aid you all!”

The disciples of the Ten Thousand Flames Sect, who had been barely holding on, all turned their eyes toward the front when they heard the voice—and then they saw a scene that left them stunned.

In their line of sight, a young man flicked his fingers, shooting out three tongues of flame. The three flames headed toward the three coiled Fire Dragons. The flames were small, but as they drew close to those three dragons, they suddenly surged into a sky-covering tidal wave, instantly devouring those three Fire Dragons. The azure dragon that had been attacking the barrier actually abandoned its assault and bolted toward the rear of the canyon.

Only, though the azure dragon was fast, that youth was faster. With a single flicker of his figure, he appeared above the azure dragon, extended his hand in a grasp through the air, and directly seized the dragon’s throat. This azure dragon that had left them utterly helpless didn’t even manage to execute a single move in the young man’s hands.

“Too strong!”

“Who is this person?”

Is there such a formidable senior brother under thirty in our sect?

All the disciples of the Ten Thousand Flames Sect fell silent. They felt the joy of being saved, but also a kind of shame.

So many of them together weren’t as good as this one man.

“I… I think I know who he is?”

After a while, one disciple spoke.

“Who?”

“Lin Chen of the Canglan Sect.”

Someone recognized Lin Chen, and as his words fell, the others also clearly saw Lin Chen’s appearance and confirmed his identity.

“If it’s him, then it makes sense.”

Having recognized Lin Chen, many disciples of the Ten Thousand Flames Sect found it easier to accept. After all, when this man had come to the Ten Thousand Flames Sect back then, he had already displayed a shocking talent for refining Innate Fire. More than two years ago, when he broke through the Heaven-Reaching Pagoda, he already possessed the strength of the Peak of Innate Third Realm.

High in the sky, Lin Chen frenziedly absorbed the energy of the azure dragon. As the dragon’s body shrank and finally turned transparent, deep within the Holy Fire Realm, a sudden furious roar rang out.

The whole land quaked and the mountains shook.

Elsewhere in the Holy Fire Realm, Li You heard that furious roar, and an excited look appeared on his face.
