Chapter 839: Chapter 839: Forbidden Blood Pool
"What if he’s stronger than we expected?"
Yang Cheng asked.
Feng Jiuge replied earnestly, "Then we run. If we can’t win, we retreat. It’s not shameful."
"You’re right."
Yang Cheng was amused by her words, realizing this was the wisdom accumulated by his senior sister over many years.
The two of them discussed for a while and decided to investigate the Gong Family again tonight. This time, they must test the true strength of that expert.
"Your injuries haven’t fully healed yet. Are you sure you can go?"
Previously, Feng Jiuge was severely injured. Although she was mostly healed now, her strength was still affected.
"Don’t worry, it’s nothing. I’ve suffered worse injuries before. This is nothing."
Feng Jiuge loosened her shoulders. There was still some lingering pain, but it didn’t affect her movements. As a master at the Foundation Establishment Eighth Stage, such injuries wouldn’t make her lose combat effectiveness.
Seeing her so at ease, Yang Cheng felt a bit of heartache, wondering how much suffering she had endured to reach this point.
"Alright, but if you feel unwell, don’t push yourself."
"Got it!"
Feng Jiuge responded and walked out of the room first.
Downstairs, Kong Lingwen was sitting in the living room. Upon seeing them come down, she quickly stood up.
"Where are you going this late?"
"To the Gong Family."
Yang Cheng went over and held her hand, "Lin Wen, wait for me at home. I’ll be back soon."
Kong Lingwen opened her mouth, wanting to say she would go with him, but the words got stuck in her throat. She knew her own abilities—going with them would not only be of no help but might also become a burden.
"Then be careful."
She said softly, her eyes full of worry.
"Don’t you know my skills? Even if I can’t win, no one can catch me."
Yang Cheng chuckled, then lowered his head to plant a kiss on her forehead.
Watching their intimate interaction, Feng Jiuge had a hard-to-describe expression, recalling the scene of Yang Cheng entangled with another woman in the hallway.
Clearly, he loves his wife so much, so why cheat? But I must admit, he’s quite strong in that aspect.
Feng Jiuge’s cheeks warmed, and she quickly stepped out the door and got in the car, with Yang Cheng following close behind.
The black sedan, like a lurking beast, disappeared silently into the night.
...
Gong Family villa.
The Gong Family villa was shrouded in an eerie silence, with not even the sound of insects, as if all the small creatures instinctively sensed danger and dared not approach.
Yang Cheng parked the car at a distance, and he and Feng Jiuge walked to the exterior wall of the Gong Family estate.
Both were experts in the Foundation Establishment Realm, scaling the three-meter-high wall with ease and landing silently into the garden.
"Follow me."
Yang Cheng whispered, leading the way.
He had been here once, familiar with the Gong family’s layout. The two traversed the garden, avoiding patrolling guards, heading straight for the small building in the backyard.
The small building was still dark, but the evil aura was even more intense than before, palpable even from dozens of meters away.
Feng Jiuge’s expression changed slightly and whispered, "Such strong Yin Qi."
"It’s down below."
Yang Cheng activated his True Qi, easily unlocking the door, cautiously pushing it open, and the two slipped inside immediately.
The hall was empty, with only a few wall lamps emitting a dim light, casting long shadows of the two.
Yang Cheng found the entrance to the secret room, which was a seemingly ordinary wall. Yet, he knew this concealed the Gong Family’s greatest secret. Strangely, such a hidden place was unguarded, like a trap luring them in.
He groped the wall, quickly finding the mechanism. With a gentle press, the wall slid open silently, revealing a staircase descending downward.
Yang Cheng and Feng Jiuge exchanged a glance, masked their presence with True Qi, and slowly descended the steps. The staircase was long and winding, seemingly leading to the depths of hell.
The further down they descended, the stronger the evil aura became, with a nauseating smell of blood mixed with an inexplicable stench in the air.
Yang Cheng held his breath and quickened his pace.
On the second underground level, a heavy iron door appeared before them, etched with eerie runes, emitting a dim red glow in the darkness, as if drawn with blood.
"What is this?"
Feng Jiuge asked softly.
"I don’t know, but that old thing is behind this door."
Yang Cheng took a deep breath and pushed open the iron door.
The iron door slid open silently, and the scene inside made them both gasp in shock.
The secret chamber was vast, its walls carved with dense runes glowing dark red, casting a bizarre red light over everything.
In the center was a gigantic Bronze Tripod, its surface covered with intricate patterns that seemed to be alive rather than mere decorations.
But the most horrifying sight was inside the Bronze Tripod.
It held a churning pool of blood!
The dark red liquid inside the tripod boiled and bubbled, releasing a pungent blood scent when bursting. Floating on the surface were undefined objects, resembling fragments of flesh or organs, enough to churn one’s stomach with just a glance.
The ground around the blood pool was covered with eerie runes, spreading outward from the Bronze Tripod, occupying the entire chamber’s floor, with dark red light flowing through the runes as if alive.
Yang Cheng looked intently, discovering several corpses beside the blood pool.
These bodies were naked, young men and women with pallid faces and shriveled bodies as if all their blood had been drained.
Their eyes were wide open, staring blankly at the ceiling, their faces frozen in the terror and despair of their final moments.
"This is... blood refining technique!"
Feng Jiuge’s voice quivered, her face pale as paper, eyes filled with disbelief and fear.
"Blood refining technique?"
Yang Cheng frowned.
"An extremely evil Cultivation Technique requiring the fresh blood and souls of living people. The practitioner throws live people into a blood pool, using an Array to extract their essence blood and souls to enhance one’s cultivation."
Feng Jiuge gritted her teeth, a flash of hatred in her eyes, "My master told me before he died that the people of the Blood Refining Sect rely on such evil techniques for cultivation, which is why they are despised by cultivators everywhere."
Yang Cheng’s expression darkened as well, looking at the shriveled corpses beside the blood pool, a murderous intent growing wildly in his heart.
These innocent people were used as mere materials for cultivation, killed so horribly, while the culprit was just behind the blood pool, back facing them, forming Seals with his hands, muttering words.
