Chapter 867: Chapter 867: A Young Girl’s Secret Feelings

Jiang Yu sat quietly across from Yang Cheng, eating her meal quietly. Occasionally, she would look up at Yang Cheng, then quickly lower her head, her cheeks slightly red, like a frightened little rabbit.

"Miss Jiang, eat more of this, it’s good for your blood."

Yang Cheng placed a chopstick full of braised pork liver into her bowl.

"Thank you, Dr. Yang."

Jiang Yu said softly and obediently ate the liver.

Feng Jiuge sat opposite them, watched their interaction, and curled her lips in a meaningful smile, raising her eyebrows at him.

Noticing her expression, Yang Cheng directly placed his hand on her thigh and subtly moved it upward.

"Mmm..."

Feng Jiuge moaned softly, her cheeks turning red instantly.

Jiang Heping and his daughter watched her in confusion, and Jiang Heping asked, "Miss Feng, does the dish not suit your taste?"

"No, it’s fine. I just... bit my tongue."

Feng Jiuge gave an awkward smile and then glared at Yang Cheng when no one was looking.

Yang Cheng didn’t mind at all. His hand grew increasingly audacious, using his Yingyang Ghost Hand to roam over her.

Finally, the meal ended, Feng Jiuge’s cheeks were flushed red, as if she’d had a drink.

She kicked Yang Cheng several times, but this scoundrel just wouldn’t let go, continuously bothering her.

"Yu, why don’t you go back and rest, don’t tire yourself out."

At this time, Jiang Heping spoke up.

He was quite pleased; although Jiang Yu didn’t eat much, she was already doing much better than before, at least she didn’t feel dizzy and weak halfway through the meal.

"Dad, I’m not tired, I want to stay a while longer."

Jiang Yu shook her head, her gaze falling on Yang Cheng.

She hadn’t been this happy in a long time. Since falling ill, she spent most of her time lying in bed, rarely going out unless it was to the hospital, and her life had become frighteningly monotonous.

With Yang Cheng here today, she felt the entire room brightened.

Yang Cheng could see her little thoughts and said with a smile, "Miss Jiang, if your health allows, I’ll take you out for a stroll this afternoon. Staying indoors all the time isn’t good for your health."

"Really?"

Jiang Yu’s eyes brightened instantly, like two shining stars.

"Of course, but it depends on whether your body can handle it."

"I can manage!"

Jiang Yu quickly said, afraid Yang Cheng would regret it.

Watching his daughter smile for once, Jiang Heping felt both gratified and heartache.

"Go, go, wear more clothes, don’t catch a cold."

He waved his hand, not stopping her.

In the afternoon, the sun was just right, and the breeze was gentle. Yang Cheng drove the car, taking Jiang Yu and Feng Jiuge out of the Jiang Family gate.

Jiang Yu sat in the back seat, the car window rolled halfway down, the breeze caressing her cheeks and blowing through strands of her hair.

She gazed greedily at the scenery outside the window, her beautiful eyes full of excitement.

Having not been outside for a long time, the world beyond seemed both unfamiliar and fresh to her.

"Dr. Yang, where are we going?"

She asked curiously.

"Taking you to the liveliest place in Linzhou for a stroll and some good food."

Yang Cheng replied with a smile.

Feng Jiuge, sitting in the front seat, turned back to glance at Jiang Yu and said softly, "Miss Jiang, do you not often go out?"

Jiang Yu nodded, her voice dropping a few tones, "Since falling ill, I haven’t really gone out much. Dad worries I can’t handle it, and I also don’t want to go out. People outside see my poor complexion and always give me that sympathetic look, which I don’t like."

Her tone was quite calm, but Yang Cheng could hear the loneliness in it.

A young girl in her prime, at an age meant for carefree exuberance, yet trapped indoors by illness, losing so much joy that should have belonged to her.

Yang Cheng glanced at her in the rearview mirror, his tone gentle, "Things will get better. Once you’re better, you can go wherever you want, and no one will hold you back."

"Mm!"

Jiang Yu nodded seriously, a thread of anticipation crossing her eyes.

The car soon stopped at the most vibrant commercial street in Linzhou.

It was much livelier than the previous streets they’d passed, with shops and pedestrians, full of the essence of life.

As soon as Jiang Yu got out of the car, she was like a bird freed from its cage, looking left and right, her eyes full of wonder.

"Dr. Yang, can I eat that?"

She pointed to a stall selling cotton candy, asking.

"Of course, I’ll buy it for you."

Yang Cheng smiled, walked over to buy two sticks of cotton candy, handed one to Jiang Yu and the other to Feng Jiuge.

Jiang Yu took it, gently took a bite, her eyes squinting slightly, smiling, "So sweet!"

She laughed like a child, revealing two small tiger teeth, incredibly cute.

Feng Jiuge looked at the cotton candy in her hand, feeling amused and helpless, "I’m already an adult, and you’re still buying this for me."

"Age doesn’t matter, women love sweet things."

Yang Cheng said righteously.

Feng Jiuge gave him a look, but still took a bite, her lips curling into a smile.

Studying the three of them walking slowly down the street, Jiang Yu seemed like a curious little baby wanting to experience everything she saw.

Yang Cheng patiently obliged, buying whatever she wanted to eat, indulging whatever she wanted to do.

Before long, Jiang Yu’s hands were full of various snacks, her face radiant with happiness.

"Dr. Yang, you’re so good to me. My dad never lets me eat things from outside."

She suddenly stopped, looked up at Yang Cheng, her beautiful eyes full of sincerity.

"He’s just worried about your health, but I’m a doctor, so when you’re out with me, you can eat whatever you like. If you feel uncomfortable, just tell me."

Yang Cheng reached his hand to rub her head, speaking softly, "You’re so well-behaved and adorable, anyone who meets you would want to treat you well."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Yu’s cheeks turned red instantly, looking down in bashfulness, her heart racing.

Standing nearby, Feng Jiuge crossed her arms, observing this scene, and a complicated feeling washed over her.

She had been alone since childhood, never truly experiencing being cared for.

Watching Jiang Yu being adored by her father and cherished by Yang Cheng, she couldn’t help but feel a bit envious.

"Senior sister, what’s wrong?"

Yang Cheng noticed her peculiarity and approached to ask.

"Nothing much, just feeling that this young girl is rather fortunate."

Feng Jiuge shook her head, forcing a smile.

Yang Cheng understood her sentiment, wrapped an arm around her shoulder, and said softly, "You’re also lucky to have such a great junior like me, others envy you too."

"You’re so shameless."

Feng Jiuge gave him a glare but did not push him away.

The three roamed around the whole afternoon, not heading home until the sky grew dark.

On the ride back to the Jiang Family, Jiang Yu fell asleep in the back seat from exhaustion, but a gentle smile remained on her face.

The car slowly pulled up to the entrance, Feng Jiuge gently woke Jiang Yu up.

When they entered the home, Jiang Heping had already prepared dinner, seeing his daughter’s face full of joy, his heart was both gratified and saddened.

"Yu, did you have fun today?"

"I did!"

Jiang Yu nodded with a smile, ran up to hold his arm, "Dad, Dr. Yang said he’ll take me out again tomorrow."

"Alright, go wherever you want."

Jiang Heping eagerly said.

During dinner, Jiang Yu insisted on dining with everyone. Although she didn’t eat much, her spirits clearly improved.
