Chapter 1026: Chapter 1011: Robbing the Robbers (Part 2)

Facing Lei Tong’s teasing, the man with the earring dared not retort. He just hoped to quickly reunite with his brothers; if luck was on his side, there might be a chance to turn the tables.

When that time comes... humph! I’ll take my time to settle the score with you guys.

This is what it means to forget the pain once the scar heals.

Just a little opportunity for these kids and they easily lose their bearings.

The man with the earring still hadn’t realized that his defeat wasn’t due to the Survivor Team’s luck, nor his carelessness, but rather an insurmountable gap in strength between the two sides.

With a crouched posture, utilizing the cover of surrounding obstacles and supported by Hu Xiaodong’s archery, Old Xu’s group slowly approached the target location.

At the alley entrance, the four bravely darted in.

Once inside the alley, the first sight was around a dozen corpses.

Without a doubt, these were all dealt with by the man with the earring’s crew.

"Where is it?" Inside the alley were at least four or five windows, and Old Xu needed to determine which window was the entrance.

Under Lei Tong’s escort, the man with the earring pointed ahead: "The, the third one."

"Do you have any passwords or secret codes when entering the house?"

This is standard practice, especially in the army, whether setting up camp outside or patrolling the station, the parties would set corresponding codes to identify each other’s identity.

But this bunch of rookies with the man with the earring, how would they know these tricks?

Sure enough, upon hearing Old Xu’s question, the man with the earring immediately shook his head in denial: "No, we just knock to get in, or open the window ourselves."

"Fine, then go knock on the window! Do you know how to introduce us when we meet?" With a gun against the man’s waist, Old Xu glared angrily.

The man with the earring was almost scared into a collapse by Old Xu, but fortunately, Lei Tong was quick to catch him: "Damn! Such a coward."

"B-bro, I’ll say whatever you want me to say."

He’s seen stupidity, but never this stupid; were it not for considering the earring man’s use, Old Xu was contemplating just finishing off this brainless fool who only wastes food.

"Listen carefully, later you’ll say you were attacked by zombies along the way, we saved you, and now we want to join your group, so you brought us back. Understand?"

"Un-understand!"

"Repeat it!"

"I was attacked on the road..." Stammering through Old Xu’s words, the man with the earring complied well.

But Old Xu wouldn’t relax just because of his compliance; he kept the gun pressed against the man’s waist and threatened in a low voice: "You better not try anything funny, or the bullets in my gun won’t discriminate!"

No need for further words from Old Xu. The man with the earring had seen Lei Tong’s shooting firsthand.

At that time, Lei Tong was roughly fifty or sixty meters from the toll booth’s roof punks, and he hit a target in the chest dead-on with one shot.

If nothing else, just Lei Tong’s marksmanship was enough to intimidate the man with the earring.

No more to say, Old Xu and Lei Tong flank him, escorting the man forward while Hu Xiaodong stayed at the rear, ensuring safety.

Upon reaching the third window, Old Xu nudged the man with the earring to signal him to knock.

The latter hesitated for a moment, but under the threat of steel against his waist, he obediently raised his right hand and tapped on the glass at the window’s edge.

"Knock knock knock!" The sharp sound of glass echoed painfully in the silent alley.

After a brief wait, the expected opening didn’t occur.

Old Xu frowned slightly upon seeing this: "What’s going on?"

"Uh, I-I don’t know either," the man with the earring showed a bitter expression.

"Knock again!"

Following Old Xu’s command, with no choice, the man with the earring bit the bullet and knocked again.

But after four or five knocks, the interior remained as silent as the grave without any response.

"You’re not fooling us, are you?" Lei Tong’s brows immediately shot up threateningly, frightening the man with the earring into hurriedly explaining: "N-no, big bro, I’m being honest, I-I... how dare I fool you in this situation!"

Lei Tong thought it over, considering it unlikely for the opponent to challenge them when their gun was trained on him.

"So now what, why is there no response inside?"

Could the opponent have discovered us? Old Xu ignored Lei Tong’s interrogation; he was more concerned with the current situation.

While he was lost in thought, the man with the earring trembled as he spoke: "Pro-probably nobody’s home, w-we sometimes act in groups, th-they might have gone out."

Regarding his answer, Old Xu couldn’t determine its truth.

But right now, as long as they controlled the man with the earring firmly, even if something unforeseen occurred, they had ways to handle it.

With this mindset, Old Xu further instructed: "You should have a way to enter, right?"

Old Xu didn’t want to resort to brute force, smashing the window open at the last moment.

Because doing so would reveal their identity and their purpose.

The man with the earring was acutely aware of his situation; he knew if he didn’t handle the present problem well, then...

"I-I have the key, have the key. Unlock the latch with the key."

"Where’s the key?"

"My-my pants pocket." He was quite fortunate that today he kept the window key himself, typically he would let a subordinate manage it.

"Don’t move!!" Since he hadn’t searched the man’s body, Lei Tong intervened, stopping him from pocketing.

Shoving his hand into the man’s pants pocket, Lei Tong pulled everything out indiscriminately.

Aside from a half-bent pack of cigarettes and a ZIPPO lighter, sure enough, there was a set of keys.

"Which one?"

"The middle one."

Confirming the key, Lei Tong signaled Old Xu and Hu Xiaodong.

Xu and Hu both nodded, simultaneously gripping their weapons tightly.

After all, the current state of the opponent was unknown, and no one could guarantee whether they lay in ambush inside, waiting for their entry.

To be safe, Old Xu’s group prepared for combat.

Blade in hand, gun ready, if the opponent made any moves once the window opens, they’d welcome them with precision shooting.

Key inserted, twisted, with a light ’click’, the latch was unlocked.

At Old Xu’s signal, Lei Tong opened the window.

Old Xu then whispered a few words into the man’s ear, after which he immediately shouted: "Damn it, I’ve been knocking for a while, why is no one opening the door? Are you all deaf?"

Old Xu benefited from the man’s shouted words as they were extremely misleading, making any mix gang inside less cautious and likely to emerge.

But ultimately, the interior remained silent, as if confirming the man with the earring’s speculation that everyone had gone out. (To be continued.
