Chapter 1030: Chapter 1015: Robbing the Robbers (6)
"The clothes are here, put them on." Old Xu threw down the clothes and called Lei Tong outside, instructing, "Stay here and keep an eye on them, and bring them down once they’re ready."
"Yes!"
"Oh, and remember, they’ve been through a lot of scares, so be mindful when communicating and handling things."
"Understood, Captain, you can rest assured."
Though Lei Tong said this, he had no confidence in his heart.
He would rather take on zombies or scoundrels than deal with two disgraced women in the room.
After all, a woman’s heart is a needle at the bottom of the sea, especially for battle-hardened guys like Lei Tong.
He truly didn’t know how to communicate with the two women, but because of Old Xu’s orders, Lei Tong could only face the situation bravely.
After the instructions were given, Old Xu said once more to the two women on the bed before departing: "Hurry and put on those clothes, if you have any questions or needs, you can talk to him, and we’ll take you away once you’re ready."
No time was wasted; the series of inspections had already taken up a lot of their time.
And now, in the abandoned city, every second was precious, every second signified life or death.
Because in this place riddled with dangers, you never know when threats will appear.
We need to quickly move the resources downstairs out! With this thought, Old Xu hurriedly headed downstairs.
As soon as he reached the junction, he was met by Hu Xiaodong who asked anxiously, "What’s going on upstairs, Old Xu, how is it?"
"It’s fine," Old Xu patted Hu Xiaodong on the shoulder and explained, "There are two abducted women, everything else is normal. By the way, do you have the hand-held radio?"
"Yes!"
"Give it to me!"
Putting down the Compound Bow, Hu Xiaodong pulled out the hand-held radio from the pouch at his waist.
Old Xu immediately took it and contacted Hua Biao outside.
"Hua, how are things over there? Over!"
Hua Biao had been eagerly waiting for Old Xu’s call, feeling a bit anxious. You see, Tang Xiaoquan was manageable, but Wei Dazhuang’s impulsive nature meant he was already clamoring to get out of the car to take a look.
Luckily, Old Xu contacted before things got out of hand, or Hua Biao might not have been able to maintain the situation.
"No problems on our end, Captain, how about you? Have you encountered those guys? Over."
"They’re not in the building, only two women are here."
Upon hearing the word "women," Tang Xiaoquan’s face immediately changed.
Although his interaction with Wei Yang had shifted his perspective regarding the end-of-the-world threat posed by women,
Considering the current situation, Tang Xiaoquan couldn’t help but have thoughts about the women Old Xu mentioned.
You have to understand, the women who stayed with the ear-stud men could only be in two conditions.
First, being women of ill repute, surviving by mixing with these people.
Second, abducted women, usually facing tragic ends, with rape being unavoidable.
So, either way, they were of no use to their team.
Moreover, facts had already proven everything, as seen with someone like Yang Xue, who could change Wang Qiang’s character dramatically. And the group of students rescued from school now sitting idly at camp was a useless bomb, potentially ready to explode at any time.
Based on this, Tang Xiaoquan naturally didn’t want the team to have any connections with these two women.
But in the current team, they had Old Lin as the strategist, Old Xu as the warrior, and Old Zhao as the logistics caretaker. Though Tang Xiaoquan had some thoughts and opinions, his age meant he couldn’t act too forcefully.
It’s said that even between close brothers, accounts are clear; regardless of how harmonious the team is or how seamless the camaraderie is.
But being Tang Xiaoquan, he was very clear about what should and shouldn’t be done.
And knowing Old Xu’s character, Tang Xiaoquan understood that the latter would definitely not leave the two girls unattended.
Hence, voicing his request now was clearly unwise; the only feasible option was to advise privately once they met.
"Two women? They must be hostages. Where have the rest of the scoundrels gone?"
"We’re not sure yet. Here’s what we’ll do: get Dazhuang out of the car, and drive over. The location is at the alley in front, remember to drive into the alley with the rear facing inward, so we can move out the supplies from here."
"Understood! Captain! We’ll head over!"
"Alright, stay safe! I’ll be waiting for you here! Over!"
"Over!"
Ending the communication, Old Xu immediately headed to the window from which they entered.
The reason Old Xu requested Hua Biao to drive into the alley and angle the convoy outward had two primary purposes.
Firstly, for safety. Although most zombies around this road had been cleaned up by the ear-stud men’s group, there could still be stragglers in hiding.
And the abandoned city is zombie territory; with any slight disturbance, it’s possible to attract "an army."
Secondly, for convenient transport. Once the vehicles are inside the alley, with the window open, Old Xu can easily shift the supplies.
This dual advantageous strategy was undoubtedly the most suitable for the current situation.
Luo Baochun quickly maneuvered the vehicle to the designated spot. Having driven trucks for years, he operated the smaller Jianghuai vehicle with ease.
Despite the alley being quite narrow, for him, it was hardly a challenge.
With a few shifts and turns, Luo Baochun successfully backed the Jianghuai vehicle into the alley as requested by Old Xu.
Wei Dazhuang, having driven less frequently, even though he’d taken small goods vehicles to the market from the countryside, was undeniably several tiers below Luo Baochun in skill.
Nonetheless, with Hua Biao guiding him, he managed to complete Old Xu’s assigned task moderately.
The two vehicles, parked in line, just enough to block most of the alley. This way, even if attacked by zombies, the survivors would still have a chance to escape due to the blockade.
"Captain!" Hua Biao spotted Xu Renjie leaning out from the vehicle as he jumped down.
Old Xu didn’t waste words, making a gesture: "You and Dazhuang keep watch outside; Little Tang, Little Luo, Qiangqiang, you three come inside."
Everyone was acutely aware of the current situation; staying here one second longer meant more risk.
So as soon as Old Xu gave the directive, the Survivor Squad members immediately split into two lines.
Dazhuang and Hua Biao headed to stand guard at the entrance of the alley.
Meanwhile, Wang Qiang, Tang Xiaoquan, and Luo Baochun successively climbed over the wall into the small building.
"Follow me!" Old Xu led the three to the place where the supplies were piled.
The task ahead was simple; they just needed to transport the supplies into the vehicles.
But because this batch of supplies was mostly looted and hoarded by the ear-stud men, except for whole packs of rice and flour, most were loose items.
And picking such items one by one was time-consuming, not to mention taxing on everyone’s stamina.
So Old Xu ordered everyone to first pack up all the small assorted items scattered on the ground.
For packing supplies, the sheets and quilts in the room would serve as the best carriers.
Once decided, Old Xu’s arrangement was complete; Hu Xiaodong and the other squad members immediately got to work.
