Ruling Martial World by Infinite Insect Swarms
Chapter 198: Winds Rise and Clouds Surge, Astonishing Merit Points
Qin Yu nodded without saying a word. The Space Ring on his finger flashed with light.
CLATTER—
Onto a table specifically meant for displaying corpses, over a dozen human heads and dozens of Demon Fiend skulls suddenly rolled out, piling up into a small mountain.
The stench of blood and faint Evil Qi immediately filled the air. These heads had been simply processed, yet their facial features remained ferocious and twisted, allowing one to still make out their general appearances from when they were alive.
“These are the missions I accepted, including ten in total such as Grade B Middle·’Hundred Poison Child’ and Grade C+ ‘Grass Dam Swamp’,” Qin Yu said, his expression calm.
Li Linfeng, Steward Zhou, and the others, however, had their pupils shrink slightly. As experts within the Demon Suppression Bureau, they naturally recognized the named and notorious criminals on their wanted list.
“The Hundred Poison Child is indeed dead,” Li Linfeng thought with shock. He had pursued the Hundred Poison Child in the past, but the demon had ultimately managed to escape. To think he had actually fallen into Qin Yu’s hands.
“Hurry! Tally up the missions!”
The other Demon Suppression Bureau members responsible for calculating Merit Points stepped forward one by one to carefully identify them. With a legacy of ten thousand years, the Demon Suppression Bureau naturally possessed a complete system to identify a deceased’s identity, cultivation, and so forth. They quickly confirmed the ten missions Qin Yu had originally accepted.
“Confirmed without error! It totals 43,000 Merit Points,” Steward Zhou said respectfully.
“Mm, then take a look at these. Although I haven’t accepted the missions for them yet, it shouldn’t be an issue if I accept them now, right?” Qin Yu asked.
“Of course not. As long as the heads or corpses are present, completing the mission first and making up the paperwork later is completely fine,” Li Linfeng replied without hesitation. He naturally understood Qin Yu’s meaning. Unless he deliberately wanted to make an enemy of Qin Yu, it was impossible for him to object to such a thing.
“That’s good. It’s a bit cramped in here, so let’s head outside.” Qin Yu glanced around the hall and shook his head slightly.
Human heads were not large. Even if several thousand were piled together, they could still fit in the hall. However, there were quite a few Demon Fiend skulls among them, and those would definitely not fit in this space.
Li Linfeng and Steward Zhou were startled, but they subconsciously followed Qin Yu out to the plaza outside. Once they reached the open area, Qin Yu took out another Space Ring and tipped it over. Dozens more human heads and over a dozen massive Demon Fiend skulls tumbled out.
Then a third ring, a fourth…
He had many Space Rings on hand. He had harvested quite a few when slaughtering those Evil Demons on the wanted list, and they were perfect for storing their heads right now. Qin Yu’s expression remained calm as he brought out the Space Rings one by one, as if he were pouring out ordinary goods rather than horrifying severed heads.
As each Space Ring was emptied, the severed heads piled higher and higher, gradually forming a spine-chilling “Jingguan” pyramid of skulls in the center of the plaza.
At a rough glance, there were already over a thousand of them!
Furthermore, the auras emanating from many of the heads impressively belonged to the Qi Sea Realm. One head even carried the faint lingering coercion unique to the Primordial Mansion Realm!
The entire plaza was dead silent. Only the muffled thuds of rolling heads and increasingly heavy breathing could be heard. The thick stench of blood mixed with Evil Qi and Resentment Qi caused some of the civilian clerks with lower Cultivation bases to turn pale, nearly vomiting.
All the onlookers stared with wide eyes, their faces written with utter disbelief. It wasn’t that they hadn’t seen bloodshed before, but bringing out so many high-quality heads of wanted criminals all at once was simply unheard of!
Steward Zhou’s hands trembled slightly. Forcing himself to calm down, he quickly grabbed a wanted registry booklet and began cross-referencing, identifying, and recording. The several clerks beside him also snapped out of their daze and hurriedly stepped forward to assist.
“Blood Slaughter ‘Du Li’, Late Stage Sea of Qi Realm, C Level bounty, eight hundred Merit Points…”
“Lady Bai Hua ‘Lady Liu’, Middle Stage Sea of Qi Realm, C Level bounty, seven hundred Merit Points…”
“Black Death Palm ‘Tie Xiong’, Peak of the Qi and Blood Realm, D Class bounty, sixty Merit Points…”
“Heart-Eating Demon ‘Old Monster Tong’… Early Stage Primordial Mansion Realm, B Class bounty, eighteen thousand Merit Points!”
“Red-clothed Fierce Ghost ‘Yunniang’…”
Name after name was called out, and the corresponding Merit Points were rapidly tallied up. Fine beads of sweat broke out on Steward Zhou’s forehead, his hand moving faster and faster as he recorded. Beside him, the abacus clicked and clacked fiercely, the clerk responsible for the calculations flushing red in the face.
After emptying out all the heads, Qin Yu took out a bound book.
“These are my records of the people and Demon Fiends from my hunts. You can cross-reference with this; it should be of some help,” Qin Yu said.
Not every head had an independent bounty. Some were cronies killed in passing while eradicating Evil Demon strongholds, and the specific identities of the Demon Fiend types were even more impossible to determine. And among these missions, many were specifically related to Demon Fiends.
“Thank you!” Steward Zhou wiped the sweat from his forehead and received the book, his hands trembling slightly.
Li Linfeng opened his mouth but had no idea what to say. He had guessed that the Insect Swarm had committed quite a slaughter these past few days, but he never imagined it would be this much.
To slaughter so many people and Demon Fiends all at once.
To even have to list them in a book to turn in the missions at the Demon Suppression Bureau… Such a thing had probably never happened in the entire history of the bureau.
In order to clear out these heads and verify the missions, they had to pull in as many people as possible from other departments within the Demon Suppression Bureau, verifying them one by one according to the book Qin Yu provided. Across the entire plaza, every passing member of the Demon Suppression Bureau looked at Qin Yu standing to the side with horrified expressions.
In just a few short days!
Just how many Evil Demon lairs had he eradicated? How many had he killed?
The gazes many directed at Qin Yu were no longer just filled with shock; they now carried a deep sense of awe and fear.
